It was a good day for the Republican Party

Boehner executes a long overdue smack-down of the Tea Party, et al, and Paul Ryan quotes Mick Jagger in a very eloquent smack-down of his own.
It's about time.

I do not think the Dems need to worry yet - wild rumpus

I think this wrestling match will not be resolved for some time. In time for 2016? Maybe 2020.
For sure. To clarify, I was speaking in the context of Republican Party vs - Tea Party

And it would seem, as you pointed out, that the non-Democratic party, be it Republican or Tea, has a lot to iron out before 2016.
it seems the dems are starting to have some infighting themselves lately - Backwards Typist

Could be some of them are waking up and seeing that their fearless leader is not the person they thought he was...or could it be that they're afraid of 2014 and 2016?
Either way, the infighting is just getting started. all because of 2014.
They always have had infighting, but it's just - finally starting to come out

I especially enjoyed the fist fight in the oval office with Ax-man awhile ago.
Democrat party is imploding and a lot of true democrats are trying to steer clear of the progressive/communist democrats because they see the policies are disastrous if they want to be re-elected. I don't blame the true democrats. The progressive/communists are taking their party down.
Perhaps a 12-step program would be in order - I am a *blank*

I am a Republican, but I can change, if I have to, I guess.

He admitted openly the Tea Party is to blame for the gridlock in Washington, and a bipartisan budget was passed. Neither side got everything they wanted, but that's the way progress works in government. Compromise is necessary from both parties since they represent all the people.
Why does he have to go? What will have to happen for that to occur?
The budget did nothing - SM

to bring spending under control and will likely result in increased taxes and increased deficit. That is not a compromise; that is business as usual. That is enough for me to want him to go along with many others. I am with the Tea Party on this issue.
Business as usual of late is gridlock, not progress - sm

The bill also did not extend unemployment benefits for those about to lose them right after Christmas. Again, everyone didn't get everything they wanted.
Being a Liberal Democrat, I might side with the Dems who voted no because the unemployment benefits were not extended. This does nothing for the economy as that's less money going into the economy, and just pushes these people into relying on other forms of government assistance for help.
However, I look at this whole budget scenario as a statement of major change in attitude of Republican Leaders, their willingness to drop the obstructionism and go back to governing, which by definition is to collectively represent all Americans, not just what I want.
Unemployment is a large problem but the way things are, no one - Truthhurts

in Congress seem to worry about creating jobs anymore. They just worry about keeping people on the government dole, including unemployment.
I don't know how to fix the unemployment situation any more than the next person but people can't live on unemployment forever, which is what Congress is allowing. It was crazy for the 99-week unemployment and now to expand it more is not only crazy, but stupid. It just makes people get lazy and game the system in other ways.
I'm not looking at this budget as very favorable to anyone except Congress (re-election). The worse thing about it is the cut in veteran's benefits. I am totally against that. They have already sacrificed enough...and for King .Harry to DENY amendments to fix some of the problems of this so-called bipartisan budget is, again, foolish and being a dictator.
You're right because Obama introduced a job bill and the Reps shot - it down nm
No, instead, it will probably result in even more - Libby

cuts to the very poor, once again, while the top 2% continue to get richer and richer.
With Paul Ryan's "dream" of doing away with all social programs, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, I feel pretty confident that nothing of much good will come from a budget with his fingerprints on it. The rich will continue to do better, though.
