Forbids counties from extending voting hours because of long lines.
Outlaws certain types of voter registration drives.
Slaps tax penalties on parents out out-of-state student voters.
Drastically reduces early voting period (57% of NCs voted early last time).
Disenfranchises felons and "mentally incompetent" who could vote before.
Does away with same-day registration.
Ends pre-registration for 16- and 17-year-olds.
Authorizes vigilante poll "observers."
And more. 22 changes to current law, none of them protecting or promoting voter rights.
Excuse for doing this? Voter fraud. EXCEPT, analysis of the last 6 state elections found 2 cases of voter fraud. Two. Or as one observer pointed out, more people died from eating Pop-Rocks in that period.
BTW? Twice as many women as men do not have photo ID, but twice as many conservative men are hard-right as conservative women, who tend to be more moderate.
