Pretty sure those jokes are mostly written by someone else, but yeah, - I think that's pretty good self-mocking.

I love these events. I even liked the Bush bit with his doppelganger impersonator. And Stephen Colbert made comedy history during his stint in 2006.

Just curious - But how do you figure that is self-mocking?

It's the White House correspondents' dinner. It is a roast, a send-up, with particular attention to press coverage and the way the White House is covered in the press.

Like it said in your link: "Swipes at the media's expense are traditional fare at the event." He poked fun at CNN, Fox, MSNBC, and even his campaign advisor.

I hope you're not going to tell us you've never ever heard of the president being referred to in the press as a Muslim or a socialist!

...that they can't give it up, even over an event that everyone KNOWS is full of tongue-in-cheek, satire, humor--whatever you want to call what people with an actual sense of humor can see!!! Even my Republican sibling, who can't stand Pres. Obama, posted a clip from this dinner on their FB page with the comment that: love him or hate him, this guy has a good sense of humor and great comedic timing.

ALL presidents are given a break by their opponents when it comes to this correspondents' dinner....apparently all except Pres. Obama, whose point you're proving that no matter what the truth is, some STILL believe he's a Muslim socialist (or whatever negative fill-in-the-blank one chooses).

I can remember the same event for President Bush and the rabid comments made by the left. So if you are testing "rabidity by a foe", got to tell you it's pretty even.

As for the truth about Obama's faith, if you are so offended that he is a Muslim and a socialist you need to tell it to him. He is the one who said he was a Muslim. HIS words, not anyone elses. As for socialist, also if you are so offended take it up with him. It seems that you have no problem with his socialist agenda, you just don't like anyone to point it out.

Once again on his religion, I don't care if he is Muslim, Catholic, Mormon, or Jewish. His faith is his personal business and I don't want to hear about who he prays to. That does not solve the countries problems. However, if you are so offended by his Muslim faith tell it to him and tell him not to say it anymore.
