In 1982, Kennesaw, Georgia passed a city gun ordinance that required heads of households to keep at least one firearm in their homes. Crimes against persons which include homicide, rape, armed robbery, aggravated assault, and burglary, plummeted 74 percent the first year, dropped another 45 percent the next year, and has remained notably low ever since, despite a doubling of the population. From 1983 to 1993, armed robberies averaged a mere 1.6 annually, rapes 1.5, and murders (none with firearms) 0.2.

I live a few miles from there and go to shop at the mall. Overall a very nice safe city. Believe me the law is not enforced by any means, but you sure don't hear about much crime there. Interesting.

A raft with a rift in it? Why would we need to keep a raft with a rift in it at bay with a gun? You mean in the bay? Why would a raft with a rift in it try to get out of the bay, and why would we care if it did or not? Wouldn't a raft with a rift in it sink before it could get out of the bay? My husband and I have been living in Arizona for the last 7 years and think it's time for a change. We were thinking about Georgia-drove through it once on way to Florida many years ago and remember it as a pretty state. I wonder if anyone is from the Walton county area. We are looking for a smaller town and there seems to be some in Walton county. I think the most encouraging part of this report is in the last paragraph. The U.S. added 120,000 jobs in November, but the unemployment rate posted a huge drop to 8.6% from 9% and a broader unemployment rate fell even more to 15.6% from 16.2%. Why?
