Info About GeorgiaApr 28, 2013
My husband and I have been living in Arizona for the last 7 years and think it's time for a change. We were thinking about Georgia-drove through it once on way to Florida many years ago and remember it as a pretty state. I wonder if anyone is from the Walton county area. We are looking for a smaller town and there seems to be some in Walton county. I would just like some information about how it is to live in that area (crime, access to shopping and medical care, etc.) We're older now ...

Over 5 Inches Of Snow Here In Georgia And While (sm)Feb 12, 2010
I know it is not anything compared to what others have received, it is a LOT for this area.  We are lucky if we see snow every 5 or so years.  It is beautiful though.  Huge pot of homemade chili, cornbread and cheese for dinner.  Come onnnnnnnn summer!!!  :) :) :) ...

Georgia....... Crime Rate Apr 20, 2010
In 1982, Kennesaw, Georgia passed a city gun ordinance that required heads of households to keep at least one firearm in their homes. Crimes against persons which include homicide, rape, armed robbery, aggravated assault, and burglary, plummeted 74 percent the first year, dropped another 45 percent the next year, and has remained notably low ever since, despite a doubling of the population. From 1983 to 1993, armed robberies averaged a mere 1.6 annually, rapes 1.5, and murders (none with firearm ...

Who Is Going To Win Special Election In Georgia Jun 20, 2017
Georgia’s Special Election Comes to a Nail-Biting Finish By JONATHAN MARTIN and NATE COHNJUNE 20, 2017 ATLANTA — Tuesday’s runoff between Karen Handel and Jon Ossoff in Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District will decide what has become the most expensive House campaign in history — and quite possibly the most consequential special election since Watergate. Yet as high as the stakes may be, the race to fill the seat vacated by Health Secretary T ...

Georgia Republican Quits HouseMar 03, 2010
Nathan Deal is stepping down from his elected position as a representative from Georgia. That will cause a special election ($$), let health care reform pass the house with one less vote, and let him avoid the ethics committee investigation into him. He will be running for governor and is currently (I think) in 3rd place behind the other 2 republican contenders. NJ ...

U.S. Marine Beaten By 4 In Georgia A Month After TMJul 16, 2013
Why post something that happened in Marchl 2012? Because I didn't see nor hear the national media, Holder, Sharpton, Jackson, the NAACP get in an uproar on this story. Why not? I'll give you three guesses. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2138388/Four-Georgia-men-arrested-beating-death-ex-Marine-survived-TWO-tours-duty-Iraq.html     http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1A-Eqg9re4 ...

Georgia--No ACA, No Emergency Room CareMar 01, 2014
Talk about getting what you vote for. Move out of Georgia if you can. . . **** Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal (R) has a problem: rural hospitals keep closing, overwhelmed by financial troubles they can’t solve on their own. The obvious solution – accepting Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act – is the one thing Deal refuses to even consider. There is no great mystery here as to why the rural hospitals can’t keep their doors open. These facilities have routinely covered low- ...

Guns In Bars And Churches In GeorgiaApr 23, 2014
Nothing makes me feel more secure than a drunk dude with a gun, except maybe this!! Under the bill, school districts would now be able, if they wanted, to allow some employees to carry a firearm under certain conditions. The bill also eliminates the fingerprinting requirement for renewing weapons carry licenses. According to the Marietta Daily Journal, the legislation prohibits the state from creating and maintaining a database of licensed weapons carriers and repeals the state-required l ...

Georgia Democrats To Propose Limitations On Vasectomies For MenFeb 22, 2012
I left out a few paragraphs in the middle, but the link is at the bottom. As members of Georgia’s House of Representatives debate whether to prohibit abortions for women more than 20 weeks pregnant, House Democrats planned to introduce their own reproductive rights plan: No more vasectomies that leave "thousands of children ... deprived of birth."Rep. Yasmin Neal, a Democrat from the Atlanta suburb of Jonesboro, planned to introduce a bill Wednesday that would prevent men from vas ...

Food Stamp Usages Plummets In Georgia. Jun 24, 2017
decrease in the number of people receiving food stamps as the improving economy lifts many recipients into new jobs and frees them from the fear of going hungry. The number of Georgians getting food stamps has dropped by 300,000 from 1.9 million in April 2013 to 1.6 million. That decrease of 16 percent in the federally funded program saves taxpayers tens of millions of dollars monthly. That may sound great, but it’s also fueling a passionate debate about which people should get food stamps ...

Georgia GOP "pays" Reelected State Senator Rogers To Leave. Remember HisDec 06, 2012
Apparently that was the last straw in a pile of them created by Senator Chip Rogers.  "Remember that Georgia Senate leader, the Republican who held a meeting for his caucus about President Obama's secret UN mind-control plot? Remember how the progressives from Better Georgia released sneak video of that meeting, and then the Georgia Republican decided not to run for his leadership spot again?  Now that same Georgia Republican is leaving the state Senate ...
