~ A country in the crosshairs of every other major power in the world, because we will have become a danger to everyone, not just to ourselves.

My economy is shot, making about minimum wage after years of experience. Lost my home. My daughter lost her small business and had to let go of 10 employees when she could no longer run her business for a profit.

Well, you're quite wrong. They (finally) raised rates DESPITE - the fact that Obama recovery was so weak.

For 8 long years, the Fed has conspired with Obama to create artificial conditions for recovery, which utterly failed (now the weakest recovery in US history now).

Everyone knew that even the Fed couldn't keep up the pretense and everyone knew that an interest rate increase HAD to come...the question was whether it would be delayed beyond the election in order to help Hillary.

...and of course it WAS delayed, but it didn't get her a single vote, and you should be asking why.

...but of course, you're not asking, and neither is your party.

Which is why Democrats are going to suffer yet another stunning defeat in the next midterm elections.

I try to educate, but some people simply refuse to face reality, and it is fitting that such people - and their failed political parties - be forever relegated to the trash heap of history.

First, Mr. Trump is not President. This interest rate hike comes on Mr. Obama's watch.

Second, there's been nothing "fiscally responsible" about the Fed artificially suppressing interest rates and printing $trillions of phony dollars.

Third, the people who understand the difference between fiscal policy and monetary policy know that it was way past time for the Fed to act responsibly and adjust interest rates to reflect economic reality.

Fourth, watch what happens next, especially if there are a few more of these small adjustments. On this news, the dollar has already strengthened relative to foreign currencies, and a strong dollar helps our exports. A weak dollar requires exporters to charge higher prices in global markets and makes them less competitive.

Fifth, you might conclude from all the above that this interest rate hike had nothing whatsoever to do with Trump and NOW you would be right. This was anticipated for months and you'll find plenty of pre-election speculation about whether it would be deliberately delayed by the Fed until after the election, not to help Trump but to help Clinton because they knew there would be a lot of knee-jerk reaction from people on the street who don't know economics. Well, it was delayed, but it didn't turn the trick for Clinton. Sorry. However, it seems now that it's possible for SOME people to misunderstand it anyway, yes?

That a rate increase can be a very beneficial thing often seems counterintuitive to people who don't understand macroeconomics and monetary policy or how interest rates affect the economy, and I understand that, so I'll just give you two observations that I think you can relate to:

1. Notice what savings accounts, CDs, Treasury Notes/Bills, etc. have paid savers during the period of artificial rates that you embrace. Did you say "nearly nothing"?? That's why.

2. Look at what stocks that have dividends tied to interest rates have paid to investors during the same period. Again - nearly nothing, and now you know why.

Now answer 2 questions:

1. Do either of these situations encourage saving or investing?

2. Where do you think REAL economic growth comes from?

ANSWERS:
1. No.
2. Saving and investing.

You can't just look at anything (for instance, the minimum wage or a line item in the federal budget) from one side of the coin. There is always someone on the other side of any transaction, on the other side of any investment, on the other side of any federal contract, on the other side of any federal regulation...etc.

Learn to look for "the rest of the story" because there ALWAYS is more to appearances than you see on the surface. I hope this will be a valuable lesson for you in the future. It's one we all need to remember. Before you leap to superficial conclusions by reducing complex issues to trivialities, educate yourself on these issues and then you can think about them properly.
