HS teacher in Alabama suspended for 10 days without pay for saying Michelle has a fat butt. He should sue them for every penny they are worth. Now that really does sound Communistic, doesn't it?

Maybe the teacher should have just shown a picture and not said anything. Let them draw their own conclusions.

Have to wonder, though, how the subject came up and how it was relevant to the class he/she was teaching.

I fail to see the connection. Now may if instead of 10 days without pay he had been summarily executed, imprisoned without trial or re-assigned to the mines, sure.

As for the teacher's suspension, it's inappropriate because she's a woman. It's inappropriate because it's a joke about someone else's weight. It's inappropriate because of it's potential (though not necessarily intended) racial connotations. It may have seemed innocent to him, but part of a teacher's job is to be a positive role model.

Teachers should be extra careful what they say around the kids. I don't think that's a radical idea.
