Fixing Republican messes costs us all a lot of money

The children of Flynt, Michigan have suffered lead poisoning, the consequences of which will probably follow them the rest of their lives. It happened because of the Republican short-sightedness of cost cutting and messing with the health of the citizen's water supply.

How much do you suppose it will cost to pay off the lawsuits? How much will it cost to replace the corroded pipes? Who do you suppose is going to pay for the myopic decision to save a little bit of money?

This is not just one incident--it is the policy of the Republican party.

Cut education funding, cut funding for infrastructure (if you can't see it, it doesn't need fixing, right?) why do poor people need health care? lower the minimum wage--scare workers by sending jobs overseas. Deregulate Wall Street -- why shouldn't a company lose 85% of its value and still pay the CEO 60 million a year. Yeah, privatize Social Secury and watch the China market collapse brining down the US market with it.

On the other hand, dump trillions of dollars into the Pentagon, but where billions are totally unaccounted for while war profiteers like Cheney go on their merry way.

Yup. I am ready for a socialist Democrat as president.

Democratic held? Did this corrosion just now occur? Where was the Democratic Congress with the Democratic President to fix this in 2008? The Democrat state legislature, etc? Do you have a link that this is solely Republican party's fault to back up your accusations or not? Flint water problems go back just a couple of years, not to 2008, when it experienced financial problems and Governor Snyder appointed an emergency city manager. They then decided to cut costs by leaving the Detroit water system, which comes from the more pristine Lake Huron water, to the Flint River, which corroded the old pipes and leaked lead into Flint homes. So yes, it is the Republican governor and his appointed city manager who is to blame.

more corrosive and declined to add an anticorrosive to the water. This was all to save money and was in blatant disregard to the health of the people of Flint, especially the children. The cost will end up being in the billions of dollars.

Just being Democrat doesn't guarantee that - Repub messes go away automatically.

can help me. I want to replace a toilet seat and I expect the procelain hole on the one side is a little different than the right where you put the bolt down through so the one side of the toilet seat doesnt not sit flush at the front when you tighten the screws on the toilet. I added up my federal, state, and property taxes. If I was paying the full cost of my health insurance (employer shares cost), my taxes would be about $3,000 LESS than the cost of my health insurance.
