Does anyone know how much it costs to replace...sm

Posted: Nov 28, 2012

the engine in a 1997 Ford F250?  My husband and I just bought this truck for our son a little over a month ago and we have been told by two mechanics that it's probably blown heads and that we should replace the engine.  Using a rebuilt engine, I am assuming this will be around $2500-3000.  Does anyone know off hand?

Mine was $5000 - me

But this was for a Toyota convertible despite telling the dealership I wanted extended coverage....They did not add it, and the engine blew 1 month later.

$5000 sounds about right, give or take. It also - depends on dealership vs. independent mechanic.

I paid $7000 to replace a diesel engine in a Ford F250 back in the mid-1980s. It got fried because a little 59-cent part - the oil-sending unit, ceased working. By the time the engine started to konk out, it was too late to save it. What really killed me was this happened only 3 or 4 days after the warranty expired!
:(

Didja buy it like that? Or did son do a number on it? - nm

my husband just looked into a new engine also for a Ford, but F150 and a diesel engine for a dualy. anyway, the costs he found in Miami were anywhere from 1500-2000. But our mechanic says that if he was to replace the engine next thing you know it would need new brakes, then a new hose, then...then...then.... but i totally completely understand fixing your truck! I just hate looking at ours in the "backyard". 1-800junk! LOL

Why Healthcare Costs So Much In America - Apr 23, 2017
Not for those who are too impatient to read anything longer than a paragraph. While our earnings are being ground into dust, the HC providers we ultimately work for are marking up everything they deliver by 300%, 400% and more, making outsize profits and paying obscene salaries to executives.  Example:  A patient charged $1.50 for a generic Tylenol pill when you can buy a bottle of 200 for $4.00 from Walmart (2 cents a pill).  https://www.walmart.com/ip/39661523 ...that's ...

Big Jump Seen In Health Costs For Employees Oct 14, 2009
As companies begin unveiling their workplace benefits for next year, many employees are learning they will have to dig even deeper into their pockets for health coverage. Such price increases have become a fact of life during open-enrollment season, when workers sign up for their health plans. But the jump is expected to be steeper in 2010 than this year, as employers struggle with the impact of the recession and continually rising insurance costs. Employees will pay $4,023 on average in premiu ...

My Health Insurance Costs More Than My Tax BillApr 14, 2011
I added up my federal, state, and property taxes.  If I was paying the full cost of my health insurance (employer shares cost), my taxes would be about $3,000 LESS than the cost of my health insurance.  I get a of a lot more for my tax dollars than I do from my health iinsurance.   But, I am so glad I am paying all that so the insurance CEOs can afford gas, car payments, and nice vacations.  ...

What started as hot air has now become a thunder cloud. Should Congress fail to reach a compromise to raise the debt ceiling, a multitude of economic sectors could take a hit—if not come to a screeching halt. Eye-opening Information On Hospital Costs.Jul 05, 2012
I watched Dr. Sanjay Gupta's piece on CNN this week where he was explaining why hospital costs were so high.  Of all the bills collected by the hospital from all sources they only end up actually collecting 4%, that's 4 cents for every dollar billed!  To compensate, they bill accordingly so they come out even or ahead, $800 for a disposable chest tube that in reality costs less than $50 from the supplier.  This was really shocking to me!  To be fair, labor need ...

Health Care Costs RiseSep 12, 2012
While annual health care premiums for job-based family plans rose a seemingly respectable 4 percent this year, premiums averaged $15,745, with employees picking up more than $4,300 of that tab, according to an annual employer survey released Sept. 11.  According to an Associated Press report, the costs are a reminder that the U.S.’s struggle with unaffordable medical care is still significant.  Overall, "it's historically a very moderate increase in premiums," said Drew Al ...
