Would you please get this board under control. I know your busy and I hate to bother you, but these messages are going way past reasonable. Seems like the Martin/Zimmerman case is giving posters free reighn to call others racist, stupid, and the arguing and accusations are getting ridiculous.

I think everyone on this board knows there is racism in this country, but I'm really getting tired of reading all the accusations. This one doesn't know that, this one hasn't been paying attention, your a racist, you are stupid, you are ignorant. There is no political content in these posts anymore, just people getting free reign to cut others down.

I'd love to go back to discussion political topics if possible.

What's not political about a pending DOJ civil rights investigation, the response of numerous elected representatives to the verdict, the continued polarization between the political parties over the outcome, grass-roots actions such as the 450,000 folks that signed the petition requesting the investigation, continued efforts to the seek justice for Trayvon Martin in civil proceedings in the aftermath of what many, many Americans feel is a failure of Florida's criminal court and legal systems, and unequal protection under the law, just to name a few....all of which share the common thread of historical racism that in reality has disgraced this nation's highest aspirations that "all men are created equal" since the Declaration of Independence was signed and the Constitution ratified?

Can you not skip through subjects that do not interest you or offend you? I do this all the time. What is your problem? You need to grow up instead of tattling when you have control by skipping subject matter.

I am quite sure the people who run MT Stars are happy to have discussion here rather than no discussion. The Zimmerman trial has brought out a lot of opinions which is good for MT Stars.

I never said in my post that racism doesn't exist. Of course it does (both sides).

If people want to talk DOJ, great, talk DOJ. If people want to talk about political people getting involved in cases they know nothing about, fine. Passions run high for everyone who participates in these discussions. Regardless of subject, 5-year-olds will be 5-year-olds, and those so inclined will always be spoiling for a fight. Ignore them. Do not give them what they want. Pass their posts by and refuse to feed the trolls.

On more than a few occasions, RWs have decried and ridiculed "political correctness," but I guess that only applies when they can aim their PC attacks against the president and his supporters. IMO, trying to get the subject banned or the dialogue sanitized is just another passive aggressive gesture to silence long overdue exposure, definition, examination, acknowledgement, strategy- and agenda-building, goal setting and resolution to our nation's greatest shame and the ugly little secret we try to keep every time we find ourselves sweeping it under the rug.

It is what it is. Let it be seen as such.

that somehow this case and the implications of Florida's legal process and laws, the 1st amendment protests by countless Americans across the nation, the possibility of a DOJ investigation being petitioned by more than a million citizens through grass roots efforts, the galvanization of legislative initiatives it has spawned, and the possible effect it could have on 2014 election because of the unresolved reality of endemic racism in our culture IS NOT POLITICAL?

I left the threads about the DOJ, as that is political. There was no discussion of about the possible outcomes of any elections or anything else related to politics in any of those threads. There were already several posts on the Gab Board regarding the outcome of the trial, so they are not buried. The DOJ investigation is political, the not guilty verdict of this trial is not. Taking turns calling each other racist is also not political - these statements will probably be cleaned up on the Gab Board as well.

So what about general discussion on racism? - Fluffy gab or political?

Is there any way I could pursuade you to add a "frugal living" option to our other talk boards? With a tight as things are for most MTs, I think it would not only be helpful but fun to be able to share ideas on how to save on and resuse household items. As there ar every few nays to this suggestion, I'm hoping for a vote to make this a new category. Everyone, not just MTs, are feeling the pinch nowadays. It would be wonderful and I believe very, very helpful to compare ideas and suggest sites that help with pinching pennies!! Even saving $50 a month in cost savings is a big deal today. Why on top of the post about Romney's religion, sending it to the faith board? He is of a faith that has for years promoted prejudice nad all kinds of crazy stuff.
