I've had 2-3 posts disappear in the last week or two. Can you please tell me why? Yes, I disagree w/ some folks, but I try to be civil until I'm driven not to be. The latest was here w/in the last 3 hrs. I will not defend my opinions as the others don't seem to. Block me if you want. Whatever. I just try to discuss stuff.

that are not removed such as the one comparing President Obama to Hitler, deliberating misleading ones about Muslims, and pictures of obnoxious racist bumper sticker photos. gotta wonder, don't you?

between expressing your opinions and insulting posters. I have been limiting the moderation to posters insulting other posters. The internet is a large place. People should be able to have the freedom to express their opinions about politics, politicians, issues, etc. If you disagree with a post I would suggest having a debate about the information posted. It is not fair to anyone here for me to pick and choose sides. For the particular topic you posted concern about (the Obama/Hitler post) I cannot delete that just like I didn't delete the posts that were equally as bad regarding the past republican president.

If there is an obscene photo that will be removed. This board is no place for obscenity. But sometimes if we don't like what is being said about a politician we like we just have to get a thick skin. Nobody likes to hear negativity about the party the prefer, but everyone also has the right to post their opinions, articles, and viewpoints. For me to choose sides would not be fair and it would be wrong. If you don't like a post just reply and calmly state why you don't agree with something. Everyone will see your posts too.

I don't want to start removing certain posts while letting the other side post whatever they want. That is not my job. If it is obscene I will see it and I will remove it. No matter what side it pertains to.

I hope we all can come to agreement as adults that we need to start discussing issues in a rational manner. It will just be a better place to share ideas and hear information we may have not known about.

I am going through the board to try to remove belligerent and insulting posts. It will take a little while but I will go through each post.

Here's are articles that compare Bush to Hitler (some with pics too) and back when these came out they were not removed. Also people have lost their job over comparing Obama to Hitler, but nobody ever lost their job comparing Bush to Hitler. This first one is the "Best". Calls Bush an a**hole.

The post commented negatively on a poster. It had nothing to do with the topic being discussed by the OP. If you were the poster you should have received an email and I stated that. If you were one that had replied to that message unfortunately all messages after that are automatically deleted when the original message is deleted. That is the way the board is set up and I have no control over that.

I am trying to go read the board and read everyone's message. I am all for different opinions, jokes, and other remarks that are amusing, but if a poster is belligerent towards another and it has nothing to do with the topics being discussed I am deleted the posts. This includes posters who are stalking others and cutting them down because they share a different view point. Unfortunately everyone who posts after that all their messages get deleted too.

It's taking awhile to read though all the posts. I'm for freedom of expression, but I'm just asking people to lay off the personal insults.

If it was a post regarding the topic at hand please post again.

I want to be fair to everyone. I just would like everyone's help to keep the board decent so everyone can express their viewpoints. Nobody likes to be insulted for voicing their opinion.

I understand this can be a difficult process. If someone cannot direct a comment to another poster without being insulting, why would they expect their post to remain? It is one thing to voice a difference of opinon (and by the way, comparing Obama to Hitler is not a personal attack on any poster no matter how offensive someone may find that comment), and something totally different when the poster is personally insulted, attacked and called names. Some on here are so immune to the degradation and offensiveness of their posts, they see nothing wrong with them (unless of course their same comments are "quoted" directly back to them; then they are outraged. See below). There is a lot to be said for simple, basic common courtesy.

make vitriolic posts referring to the President as being unamerican, a Nazi/Communist, whatever and that is OK because it is free speech and not subject to the rules of intelligent civil discourse? I do not think that is what the moderator is saying.

Your post is EXACLTY what is wrong with this board. I never said any of what you attributed directly to me. If someone lays out comparisons between Hitler's and Obama's life, they have the right to do so. When the OP put that up, their post was not rude to any other poster, nor did they single out or stalk any other poster. They merely posted an article with links (that so many scream for on this board constantly). However, Obama supporters came out with guns blazing and tried to outdo each other with the insults to the OP. What is civil discourse about the horrible, vitriolic comments made about Bush that are still on this board? No civility there. Look at the disrespectful pictures posted of Bush, with no facts to support the attached comments the OP posted with the pictures, yet I saw not one step forward to speak against that disrespect other than the conservatives on this board. The Dems/libs laughed and made degrading comments. I am perfectly capable of interpreting what the moderator is saying on my own and, IF I need clarification on anything, I will contact the moderator directly.

We are allowed to be insulting to politicians; we are not allowed to be insulting to individual posters.

I didn't care for the Hitler/Obama comparison, just like you didn't care for disrespectful pictures of Bush. I just don't believe it's the moderator's role to prevent people from making vitriolic comments about presidents, past or present.

Just something to think about. I think it's okay to say that.

Letting someone express their opinion of any politician is freedom of speech - within reason. Everyone has the right to freedom of speech without being belligerent or obscene. Voicing your opinion about a candidate is a right. As much as you don't like what is written about a politician you like equal is being written about the other side. The vitriolic posts are not directed towards one political party.

This is a place for people to share articles and discuss issues. If a poster is obscene or belligerent that post with be deleted.

I will not tolerate obscenity or posters stalking others or ridiculing them for their believes. That is where it needs to stop.

Be adults. Discuss issues and debate topics in a civil manner. If you don't like what someone writes, write a rebuttal explaining why or just skip over it. If it's obscene, etc, I will remove it.

Then wouldn't it only be fair for the moderator to take away other posters rights and remove all the vitriolic posts directed against Bush and Palin and Bohner and anyone republican/independent.

Is there any way I could pursuade you to add a "frugal living" option to our other talk boards? With a tight as things are for most MTs, I think it would not only be helpful but fun to be able to share ideas on how to save on and resuse household items. As there ar every few nays to this suggestion, I'm hoping for a vote to make this a new category. Everyone, not just MTs, are feeling the pinch nowadays. It would be wonderful and I believe very, very helpful to compare ideas and suggest sites that help with pinching pennies!! Even saving $50 a month in cost savings is a big deal today. Why on top of the post about Romney's religion, sending it to the faith board? He is of a faith that has for years promoted prejudice nad all kinds of crazy stuff. Romney says his religion shaped him and made him what he is today. I think that makes his faith VERY relevant to the politics board. Where have all of the posts at the bottom of the board gone? It seems as if once they hit the bottom of the page, they drop into some big black hole somewhere, never to be seen again. LOL!
