Colorado's first pot rally marred by gunfire

Only two wonded, thank heavens but now that marijuana is legal in Colorado, they want other laws regarding marijuana repealed? What's wrong with this state? Seems like the tokers don't want to follow ANY laws.

The two paragraph in that article that really caught my eye and truly disgusted me are these:

Lopez and a number of other leaders of the legalization movement said they remain unsatisfied with what they consider the limited scope of Measure 64, which along with forbidding consumption of marijuana in public spaces, contains other restrictions, such as driving while under the influence of cannabis. In addition, Lopez said those individuals imprisoned for past crimes involving the sale, use and distribution of marijuana should be released from jail.

On Monday, several of the event’s organizers will hold another rally outside the Colorado state capital in which they will speak out against the “Driving Under the Influence of Cannabis Bill,” which aims to set a legal limit for the amount of THC a person can have active in their bloodstream while driving. The bill passed the state House in March and is scheduled to be taken up for consideration by the state Senate.

I say, make the DUIC bill that they can be arrested and jailed if they smoke 1 joint or less (depending on how strong the marijuana is) just like alcohol. If they're not happy with that, then go somewhere else. I will never set foot in the beautiful state of Colorado again. Such a shame.

Only adults should smoke pot (kids are going to do it, but they shouldn't be doing it *legally*). No one should drive under the influence of ANY drug (for some reason, no one seems to mind that people are popping prescription pills and driving--as if they don't alter you?). I also don't think people should just be smoking pot on the sidewalks. In other words, the world cannot be one giant music festival, as great as that would be. :)

Do some more research into what DUIC really entails. THC can stay in your system for 30 days after use. This drug is no longer causing impairment after the initial high. To be able to charge someone who smoked a week ago with DUIC just because it still shows up on a test is insane!

Did the article mention any tests to be given? Don't think so. I'll read it again just to be sure, but I think you misread my comments. I think I stated something about tests and I think they should be something like they do for DUI field testing even though I don't think marijuana should be legal at all. If they flunk the field test, then there should be some kind of other test.

You evidently are talking about blood tests.

I don't think there is a test yet that can determine short-term - cannabis consumption

Field testing is walking the straight line, finger-to-nose, counting backwards or counting in "sets," and whatever else they do. They don't do blood tests - that's left to taking them to a hospital if they flunk the field tests.

Colorado again. I live here, and we're a bunch of good people who are some of the nicest people you'd ever meet.

I'm sure you would be unhappy to visit a state where people are HAPPY.

My hubby and I are taking two full weeks off and heading to Colorado on our Gold Wing motorcycle in July. We live in Ohio so we are either going to head north through Michigan and the UP to go to Mt. Wow, what an inspiration they are! They took time out from their busy practices to rally in Washington. This is from late last year. At bottom of page is a COMMENT section containing comments (many of which are recent) from lots of other docs and nurses who couldn't make it to the rally.
