If Romney does win this election and if he starts another war, I wonder if any of his 5 sons will enlist in the military or be cowards and hide behind the church like their father did. Just wondering.

Guess that would be my military-disabled father, my uncles, my brother-in-law, my husband, my nephew, and many, many friends and neighbors who are in no-wise low class and, like most Americans, some better educated than others. I will say that no one in my family has ever been on public assistance unless you count my father's disability, which he did not collect until he was in his 80s because it was for loss of hearing and he still felt like he should work if able and did so until he was 79 years of age. You are a real jewel to make such sweeping generalizations about the men and women in our military.

Not a snit. You would probably not like me if you ever saw me in a snit. It is classism to imply only lower-class, uneducated people are in the military and also pretty bad to suggest any President or candidate wants war. I must have missed the campaign speech where Romney promised war. (Don't think he will be able to sell many of those bumper stickers, but then that is the point in your statement, isn't it?). If you haven't heard or seen it, look up Romney's 60 minutes interview and see what he said about war.

Besides, unless we challenge Al-Qaeda to a horse dance-off, I don't see how the Romney family has anything to add to the war effort.

Wait, I just figured out how to end the war. We could lower taxes in Iraq! It's so simple. It works for every problem in the whole world. We lower their taxes, so their job creators can start investing in the community like they want to and then the terrorists will be so busy working down at the Baghdad Wal-mart SuperStore that they'll have no time for fighting.

I am being alienated from my son by his horrible father. Divorced him 10 years ago and he has been pulling stunts since. I am just devastated of course. It has been almost a full year. My father passed away this past week, he took his own life. He was 75 years old and in bad physical shape and constant pain. His nightmare was that he would be put into a nursing home. He was a fiercely independent man living alone and was at the point of not being able to care for himself. He led a good life and was a very generous man with many friends. I recently said on another board I was glad I did not have any friends because no one can say do it for the kids.
