One who was unfamiliar with the recent election results reading this board would think that Obama won by a landslide....there were 49% of the people who voted against Obama, 51% voted for Obama, yes indeed a WIN.......Congratulations to those supporting Obama. However, the margin is not overwhelming, those 49% of the population still have the same rights as the 51%.

Either you're a racist or a communist, depending on your "side." And the worst part is that this board is indicative of this country - so divided and so sure "our side" stands for what is best - no other opinions necessary. Yes, we all still have the same rights to speak our minds, but it gets harder and harder every time we slam one another for doing so.

Post what you like. If somebody snarks at you, that's on them. Everybody has a right to post what they want, as long as it's in line with the moderation's rules. If you choose not to post because you're afraid of what someone will say to you, that's your choice.

Speak your truth, even if your voice shakes (or your fingers tremble). If the fear of some random internet stranger's reaction is enough to stop you, that's your decision to make. Nobody's stopping you but YOU.

What I'm saying is that we shouldn't be calling each other names or insulting each other because we have different beliefs. I personally don't care if someone wants to take a cheap shot at me for what I believe in, but you have to admit that there's only so much even the strongest person can take.

It seems to me that some people have short memories. In 2004, Bush and Kerry had very close to the same percentages of the vote (51.2% for Bush and 48.8% for Kerry). As I recall, the re-elected President Bush said, afterward: "I earned capital in the campaign, political capital, and now I intend to spend it."

If you supported his right to govern as he and roughly 51% of the voters saw fit, then it would follow that President Obama has earned that same right. There was a lot of crowing by Republicans after the 2004 election, too. That's the nature of the beast. Democrats learned to live with it, and I suppose Republicans are going to have to, now, too. It's how our election process works.

When I say that Bush and Kerry had "very close to the same percentages," I mean very close to the same percentages as Obama and Romney now in 2012 (not close to each other).
