This job can cause severe mental health problems.  I've been working at home for 12 years and the isolation has taken its toll on me.  That, in combination with meeting such high line counts my brain is always "racing".  I think I'm done with this profession for good.  Its just not worth it anymore.  Be careful not to fall into the depression that comes along with this job working at home and the anxiety that eventually builds up.  It is not healthy to be isolated and working at such a fast pace.  Thats all I got to say.

I disagree totally... - Patricia

I absolutely love this job and working at home. I detested any job I had outside the house. Those jobs were far more mentally demanding than this one. What to wear, what to take for lunch or eat out, getting to work on time, traffic, deadlines. I was more "depressed" before I started working at home. I think it all depends on the individual. If I ever have to go back to work outside my home, I'll just retire first.

There are so many angry posts, ppl who sound like they just hate their jobs and their lives... The Crux Of The Issue -- Mental Health IssuesOct 02, 2015
The gunman who carried out the deadly attack on Umpqua Community College was described Friday as a “hate-filled” individual, with anti-religion and white supremacist leanings who has long struggled with mental health issues, law enforcement sources said. Officials said Friday they had recovered 13 weapons tied to the shooter, Chris Harper Mercer, 26. Six were found at the college, seven were found during a search of his apartment -- and all were legally purchased, officials said. ...

Health Insurance Is A Poor Measure Of Health Care.Sep 14, 2011
On Tuesday, the Census Bureau released its annual report on health insurance coverage in the United States. News media widely misconstrued the data and presented the problems facing the nation's health care system through a distorted lens. Many major news outlets made a basic error when reporting on the Census Bureau study. The Los Angeles Times wrote that "the number of Americans with no health insurance rose in 2010 to 49.9 million from 49 million the year before." But the figure c ...

Need To Talk About Mental IssuesApr 27, 2011
I don't even know where to begin.  Right now, I am in such pain and emotional turmoil, but I know it is many times worse for my son.  He has been diagnosed with autism (educational diagnosis) later changed to Asperger's, and the initial medical diagnosis was PDD-NOS with ADHD (at age 3).  He is now in 9th grade and life is miserable for our whole family.  I am coming to believe that he may actually have (either with the above or any combination of thi ...

Anyone Have Mental Illness In Their Family? May 02, 2012
My daughter seems to be bipolar.  I say seems because she has never gone for counseling and not officially diagnosed as such.  With that being said, we do have a strong history of mental illness in our family and I know it is hereditary.  My mother had major depressive disorder and was a "mess" all her life.  She attempted suicide numerous times and was not there for us at all when we were young.  I see these signs going on in my daughter, but maybe worse.  She is m ...

What's Your Mental Framework? Are You Dedicated To TruthJun 28, 2016
Most people today have absolutely no personal dedication to discovering what is TRUE, as opposed to what they are already predisposed to think. In fact, they are very highly defended against any facts that conflict with their view of the world. They impugn the source.  They slant or distort the data - and easily find other sources that have done so, always in favor of their own positions - while ignoring contradictory evidence.   They don't have the slightest idea how (or desire ...

Coping With Addiction/mental IllnessApr 27, 2015
My son and DIL recently went through a divorce. She has bipolar compounded by alcoholism and addictions to prescription and recreational drugs. He coped as best he could, but throughout their 6 year marriage she attempted suicide 5 times, is a cutter, and twice became wreckless with a gun to the point that authorities including a SWAT team became involved. My son is active duty AF, living on base. At one point she was banned from the base before the divorce and had to get an apartment of her own ...

Health Care Reform-Question About Canadian Health CareDec 03, 2009
So....a friend is for our US health care reform (already retired and on Medicare) because he had no trouble going to Canada to get laser surgery on his eyes so he wouldn't have to wear glasses and states there is nothing wrong with the Canadian system....but, and I'm asking a serious question here, how long do people really wait for emergent surgery if they belong to the Canadian system versus the American system as we have it now? How did Canada get their health care system up and ru ...

The Anthony Family And Their Mental Capacity To Continue On.Jun 26, 2011
I have to watch with much question as having been a hospital worker for so many years and also in psychiatry and then experiencing teenage years.   It is all about feelings and caring...which today is missing even from our healthcare system.  It is also about reality and families.  So easy to judge, yet least we be judged.  Teen aged years are ALL dysfunctional.  What is normal really? Capitalism Is Not A 4-letter Word. Don't Let Mental Midgets Like SandersNov 10, 2015
It's really quite this simple:  No economic model in the history of the world has lifted more people out of poverty, and raised the standard of living of ALL economic strata, from "poor" to "rich", as the system known as capitalism.   If you doubt this, either you haven't studied economic systems or the history of the revolutions that have been based on socioeconomics, or, if you haven't had that opportunity, you haven't even been paying attention to the world arou ...

I have a bra question. I've recently learned that I have been wearing the wrong size bra for years (who hasn't unfortunately). I was sized at Victoria Secret and am a size 34DDD. I've always worn bigger size bras to fit the cups and had spillage and still had a gap in the band part, no matter the size or style, and now I know why they never fit properly. Well, VS has my size 34DDD (of course) in many styles but they are at least $50 for one bra and way out of my price range, n ...

Health Problems Being An MTSep 11, 2014
I'm a relatively new MT and already I'm having a constant ache in my arm and shoulder. It's a strange sensation that I can't really describe. No Health Insurance? Read This!Jan 12, 2012
For the past year and a half I have been sans health insurance.  Fortunately, I only have a couple of prescriptions that I take on an intermittent basis, and even those are generics.  Walgreen's has a "Savings Club" for those without insurance.  Normally enrollment costs $15 for a year, but this month only they have reduced it to $5 so I signed up. The club saved me $2 on today's Rx (meaning that the net enrollment cost for me was $3), and ...
