Friend with large stone burder, anyone have

Posted: Apr 17, 2013

Have a friend who at the present time is in the ER because of another stone attack. She has had surgery, ESWLL among other things and is still suffering. Wondering if anyone has any ideas about what she can do, one person said changing diet, don’t know what to change but thought other MTers might type on, know about, something. Thanks. ;

I have had kidney stones before...... - mom22dogs

I think it depends on the composition of the stone as to how best to prevent another one. They sent mine to a lab to find out.

My sister had stones - had them analyzed and

was told that she could not eat green peppers or sour cream.

They will tell you what foods to stay away from.

What Do You All Think About The Rolling StoneJul 17, 2013
I consider myself a pretty open-minded person, but this is just a bit too much for me. It's not that he's on the cover, it's that he could very well be mistaken for some rock icon. I find that pretty tasteless. I won't be buying this copy because I don't want his face in my house, but I am interested in reading the article. ...

Interesting Rolling Stone ArticleMay 29, 2014
Fox News are doing a disservice to their watchers. They could at least TRY to mix in some truth amongst the anger-generating sensationalism. That way their viewers would not fail so miserably if asked questions about the real world. Yes, not opinion but fact, questions there are right and wrong answers to. "It's not exactly a revelation that Fox News viewers are spectacularly ill informed about current events compared to people who watch other networks. But according to a recent repor ...

Stone To Death Killer Whale Who Killed TrainerMar 04, 2010
The American Family Association, a religious right group, is urging that Tillikum (Tilly), the killer whale that killed a trainer at SeaWorld Orlando, be put down, preferably by stoning. Citing Tilly's history of violent altercations, the group is slamming SeaWorld for not listening to Scripture in how to deal with the animal: Says the ancient civil code of Israel, "When an ox gores a man or woman to death, the ox shall be stoned, and its flesh shall not be eaten, but the owner shall not b ...

Gas Still Expensive And Yet Large Vehicles Still Preferred.Aug 27, 2014
I don't know about you guys, but where I am the economy is stagnant.  Every day in our local paper jobs are being lost to mill closures and manufacturing work going overseas, supposedly more additions to the people on welfare, and yet every day in the news are oodles of accidents where vehicles are "crossing the center line" which I place 85% of the blame on smart phones, and those vehicle always seem to be really big, like late-model pickup trucks and SUVs.  Anyway, I was just wo ...

Obamacare Could Face Large Numbers Of DropoutsNov 04, 2014
More than half the people who enrolled in Obamacare last year don’t plan to sign up again—and that’s bad news for the president’s healthcare law.  A new Bankrate survey reveals that 53 percent of current Obamacare enrollees who signed up through the exchanges said they would not be enrolling for 2015. Their reason--“much higher prices for health plans.” Uh, oh.  Did I hear that Obamacare was supposed to lower health insurance premiums? ...

Large Portion Of GOP Thinks Obama Is Racist, Socialist, Non-U.S. CitizenFeb 02, 2010
If this is true, it's certainly sad for America. I don't know how our President stays focused knowing people think he is a non-U.S. citizen, racist, etc. Some are even praying for his death. A new poll of more than 2,000 self-identified Republican voters illustrates the incredible paranoia enveloping the party and the intense pressure drawing lawmakers further and further away from political moderation. The numbers speak for themselves -- a large portion of GOP voters think that Presid ...

Irony. Obama Admin Approves Large Shipment Of Uranium To IranJan 11, 2017
Iran is to receive a huge shipment of natural uranium from Russia to compensate it for exporting tons of reactor coolant, diplomats say, in a move approved by the outgoing U.S. administration and other governments seeking to keep Tehran committed to a landmark nuclear pact. Two senior diplomats said the transfer recently approved by the U.S. and five other world powers that negotiated the nuclear deal with Iran foresees delivery of 116 metric tons (nearly 130 tons) of natural uranium. U.N. ...

Border Agents 'Face Retribution' For Reporting Large Illegal Alien GroupsMar 21, 2015
Border Patrol agents gave eye-opening testimony on Capitol Hill last week, saying that they"face retribution" for reporting large groups of illegal immigrants. "Management will either take them out of the field and assign them to processing detainees at the station or assign them to a fixed position in low volume areas as a punishment," border agent Chris Cabrera said before the Senate Homeland Security Committee on Tuesday. These revelations come as the Department of Homeland Security co ...

My Best FriendDec 27, 2010
I just need to unload some of this now.  My best friend, Jane (whom I have literally know since kindergarten) had a serious bout of depression about two months ago.  She called me one evening telling me she had a meltdown at work.  She told me at that time she was suicidal.  I asked if she had a plan.  She said she did.  That terrified me, and I talked to her that night on the phone urging her to get help.  She did just that.  She is now seeing a therapist ...

I Can't Seem To Let My Friend Help MeDec 10, 2010
I have a wonderful friend who happens to have a husband worth millions.  I live quite far below poverty level.  I'm a single mom and I do make ends meet, bills are paid, child is happy, we truly do have everything we need.  My car is paid for and I easily manage my tiny mortgage.  Here's the thing -- a couple of months ago part of my tooth broke away from the filling and I really need dental care (of course, I have no insurance).  My dear friend insists on ...

Friend Needs HelpApr 04, 2011
I have a friend who is dire need of some kinds of help, and I don't know what to suggest for him. He's a guy in his late 50's, and a few weeks ago he had a terrible bike accident.  It was nighttime, he was in the city, and he hit some kind of a curb or a barrier, and went flying.  He was pretty sure he dislocated his hip, and sprained both wrists.  The problem is that he's currently unemployed, and has no health insurance.  Apparently he was alone when i ...

Friend With OCDMay 24, 2013
Hi all, One of hubby's co-workers has OCD, by her own admission. Hubby and I have come to enjoy her and her husban'd company socially, as they're quite fun, but she drives us all nuts. Her mouth doesn't stop talking, and it's not just normal talking. Everything that happens is a spiral downhill of some sort of tragedy. Her dog was constipated, so he has a tumor in his bowel; her husband had dark circles under his eyes, so he ate too much bacon (?!!). A lot of it (like t ...
