What do you all think about the Rolling Stone

Posted: Jul 17, 2013

I consider myself a pretty open-minded person, but this is just a bit too much for me. It's not that he's on the cover, it's that he could very well be mistaken for some rock icon. I find that pretty tasteless. I won't be buying this copy because I don't want his face in my house, but I am interested in reading the article.

I think it is ridiculous. Fame is half the reason - crazy people do these things

Rolling Stone is going under and are hoping that doing something controversial will help them.

This was a stupid move.

I think it is ridiculous. . . - Mary

The Rolling Stones do something controversial, say it isn't so! Wonder if he is going to buy five copies for his mother? Ah, ah, ah I don't believe it, hey Ray, hey Sugar . . .

Rolling Stone cover - Nick

Since I have a subscription I (unfortunately) will be getting a copy, but I find it tasteless and disgusting.

I would send it back! - disgusting

I would tape a large note over the cover and send it back with an explanation of why I would like to cancel my subscription to this tasteless magazine!

Why the outrage? - If he were on

Time or Newsweek (do either of these still exist?) you probably wouldn't think much of it. Is he posing shirtless or giving the finger? Rolling Stone hasn't been a rock fanzine for quite some time now, and I imaging the article will be quite interesting and in depth. Controversy sells.

General McChrystal wasn't on the cover for his musical talent - or Charles Manson

I believe the point is Tsarnaev doesn't look like a terrorist. Maybe you should read the article and then get outraged, or not!

Yes, that's the point. I read the article, - OP

and it is very good, paints a thorough picture of the family's history. It's just that the picture is romanticizing him, and that's what I can't stomach.

I'm not going to boycott the magazine or march in the streets, I'm just acknowledging that squicky feeling the cover gives me, that it just does not *feel* right. I'm sure RS knows that, and I don't have a lot of respect for them monetizing on it.

Interesting Rolling Stone ArticleMay 29, 2014
Fox News are doing a disservice to their watchers. They could at least TRY to mix in some truth amongst the anger-generating sensationalism. That way their viewers would not fail so miserably if asked questions about the real world. Yes, not opinion but fact, questions there are right and wrong answers to. "It's not exactly a revelation that Fox News viewers are spectacularly ill informed about current events compared to people who watch other networks. But according to a recent repor ...

Another bit of news for those of you who have followed my posts the last couple of months - my (now) ex of just one week has informed me that he is getting married. He left to move to another state today so i don't know whether they did it this morning on their way to move or if they are going to do it once they get up there.  So essentially my 10 year old son is going to have a step-mom that not only has he never met before but is also the one that broke up his family to begin with.&n ...

Texas Rolling BlackoutsFeb 03, 2011
I'm on the east coast, and the majority of us use natural gas or propane for heat, so we've never experienced rolling blackouts in the winter.  This may sound like a stupid question, but why are Texans experiencing the blackouts?  Do the majority of businesses use electric heat?  Why would they be using more electricy now than when it's 120 degrees in the summer?  (hence, my stupid question)  I heard they had to buy some power from Mexico.  ...

Stone To Death Killer Whale Who Killed TrainerMar 04, 2010
The American Family Association, a religious right group, is urging that Tillikum (Tilly), the killer whale that killed a trainer at SeaWorld Orlando, be put down, preferably by stoning. Citing Tilly's history of violent altercations, the group is slamming SeaWorld for not listening to Scripture in how to deal with the animal: Says the ancient civil code of Israel, "When an ox gores a man or woman to death, the ox shall be stoned, and its flesh shall not be eaten, but the owner shall not b ...
