re: love animals more than people

I feel kind of the same way. I fall to pieces when I see animals hurting, but it does not affect me as much when I see people hurting. If I see a story about animal abuse, I cannot bear to look at it or read about it, but I have a safe curiosity if it is about a person being abused. I'm not alone in feeling this way, and I think more people feel this way than let on. Those who say they care about people more than animals, or who are defiant in humans inherent value compared to animals are acting under some pretense that we are "supposed" to feel this way. Which is true, humans have more value than animals. But I think the reason why it is so hard to see an animal suffering is because we are responsible for it in some way, and humans are held more accountable for their actions. What I mean by this is, we are responsible for suffering of animals, therefore responsible for our own suffering as well. However, animals are innocent in that regard. What does everyone else think? ;
