Tips on making a shadow box

Does anybody have any ideas on how to improve my speed with VR? It's supposed to be so terrible to take your hands off the keys, but we have to do that constantly to hit the arrow key, the control key, the delete key, etc.-- then when we need to make a correction, we have to put them back on, and I always put them back on in the wrong place.
