Pregnancy making it harder to work... help!

Posted: Jul 29, 2011

This is my 4th child, but my 1st while working in transcription.  I am 37 weeks and super uncomfortable!  I always have pelvic pain no matter what I do!  I know she will come out when she is ready but I have started looking up home induction.  Mostly everywhere I turn gave suggestions but said nothing worked.  So no induction for me!

Anyways, I am finding it so hard to type.  I have stuffed pillows everywhere and have taken breaks off and on but nothing works.  My company, like most, dosen't give maternity and I basically have to work until I go into labor.  I have to save up all my paid time off for the week after the baby is born just in case I get a c-section and need to heal a bit.  I don't get PTO like I did before thanks to cut backs with the company.  I have to work!

Any suggestions at all would be totally appreciated!  I'm dying here!

Try frequent breaks - ZonedOut

[ In Reply To ..]
I just had a baby 3 months ago, and I totally understand. I never made it up to 37 weeks working, so kudos to you! (I had a lot of preterm labor issues). I worked up until 34 weeks and (I was lucky) but my employer allowed me to change my shift temporily to allow frequent breaks so I could get up and walk around, take a nap if needed, etc. I worked more of a window shift than a normal 8-hour straight shift.

That really did help. Other than that, lots of pillows, I sat on a heating pad a lot, I also worked in a recliner and put my foot pedal on the foot rest to keep my feet elevated as they would swell like elephant feet! It was a little complicated to get it situated in the recliner and my DH had to help me get up, but while I was working, it was great.

Sorry, I'm not much help. Unfortunately, being 37 weeks pregnant just plain sucks! LOL... It'll be over soon. Good luck!

Pregnancy Rant...SMJan 24, 2010
Ok...here we go... :-) I am currently just over 21 weeks pregnant and I couldn't be happier! However, I am having a very hard time taking people's "advice" gracefully. This is my first child and by no means do I know everything, but I am pretty well versed in the basics of pregnancy (I transcribe for an OB-GYN). It just seems like everybody I know has something to tell me about how I should be doing this, or I should be careful of this or I shouldn't be doing that. And on ...

New Pregnancy, Smoking Problem, Help!Jan 19, 2011
With my other non-MT job at Jewelry Televison if I don't smoke I really don't get a break.  I found out that I am pregnant and I am finding it so hard to kick the habit.  I deal with customer complaints all day on the phone and believe me I want to get away from the phones! and smoke!  I actually started smoking when I started the job a few months ago.  I have cut back where I don't smoke at home which is good for me.  Today I was so stressed out I actuall ...

Question Regarding Terminating A Cat's PregnancyAug 10, 2011
We have a cat we are going to take in tomorrow to get fixed.  She had kittens and now she is pregnant again (at least we think so because her sides are starting to bulge out).  There is no way we can have more kittens, and I won't have them suffer in a world where there are too many already and they might go hungry or get placed with bad people or whatever.  The questions is I'm trying to not think in human terms.  Has anyone ever had a cat fixed after they found sh ...

Life Is Harder For Some Than Others. If This Sounds LikeSep 02, 2012
kindness, and clear-eyed understanding, would be in order? Lots of us have a bit of this tendency, but some may too much for their or anyone else's good, and these grim times just accentuate it. This tendency has to be combated by able people, but not with pointless back-and-forth arguments with those whose convictions are just reinforced by resistance.   “As a member of the avant-garde who is capable of perceiving the conspiracy before it is fully obvious to an as yet unaroused ...

Pregnancy Pics, Ultrasounds Of A Baby? Sep 03, 2013
My husband and I married for about a year. His niece is having a baby. I am happy for her but have only seen her twice and got invite to baby shower, out of state, couldn't go, ultrasound of her baby on the invite and yesterday got 52 pics of her pregnancy pictures. If she and spouse happy, good but people should realize not everyone cares about seeing pregnancy pictures and as far as ultrasound, that would be just like me looking at someone's xray that I don't even know and could ...

GOP US Senate Candidate Thinks Pregnancy From Rape Oct 23, 2012
it just so happens that a few hours before he revealed this in a state candidate debate forum, Mitt Romney voiced his support in a local ad release:  "There's so much at stake, I hope you'll join me in supporting Richard Mourdock for US Senate."  Until today, the race to replace Senator Lugar (who is not conservative enough to suit the Tea Party) was at a stalemate with Mourdock's democratic challenger, Joe Donnelly, having a hairline lead....despite obscene infusions of ...

Democrats Digging Harder Than Ever To Dig Dirt On PubsJul 08, 2010
So, does this mean they are worried about the upcoming election? I think so....but also think the pubs should worry, too. They also have a lot to lose. This may be the most interesting election in history. Democrats digging harder than ever for dirt on Republicans Top 10 Senate races that turned ugly The Fix combed throug ...

Making A WillAug 12, 2010
How many of you have set aside time to make your final wishes known?  I kept saying I was going to do it, and today at least I have written in a tablet all vital information my family needs to know, phone numbers, bank info, etc.  Money is so limited, but I want to have a formal will done very soon. I saw firsthand what confusion comes of not letting people know simple things.  There are so many details, and I am going to make things as easy on everyone as possible.  I ...

Regarding In-Laws, Making Sure You Do Not Become That MIL.Oct 28, 2010
I have been very careful with my daughter and her husband.  I do not pry and do not give advice unless I am asked.  I am careful to say, "Do you think..." or "I wonder....."  Sometimes my daughter comes to me with their problems and I am quick to say, "You guys need to discuss this, or maybe "This is none of my business," or "I should not be commenting on this."  This has served me well and my daughter and I are very close even though she is busy with small children and ...

Does Anyone Have Any Experience Making Jul 04, 2012
I got interested in this after hearing a radio show about fermented foods and the recipe seemed simple, cabbage, salt, let  it sit out for 4 weeks or so and there you have it.  My cabbage has been sitting out for a couple of weeks now and is actually sort of looking like the sauerkraut you get in the cans.  Has anyone ever made this, eaten it and lived to tell the tale?  Thanks and happy 4th!  ...

Making My Own CalendarsJan 02, 2013
Does anybody else make their own calendars?  I normally would go out and buy 5 to 6 calendars (cheap ones from the dollar stores), but this year I am just feeling creative.  I actually got out my digital camera, which I have had for 4 years and never used, and started taking pictures of my cats and would like to try printing calendar pages and hanging them around the house instead of the store-bought ones.  Any idea what software to use?  I tried HP photo creations, came with ...

Bread Making QuestionsJul 17, 2014

Officials Say Al-Qaida Making A ComebackOct 10, 2012
Obama claims the Iraq war is over and is proud that our troops are out of there.  Military officials had stated it was too soon, Iraq was not ready to completely take over and protect their country from Al Qaida but Obama didn't listen.
