Divorce.

My List - Christine

Lean on the promises of God instead of worrying and trying to figure it out on my own.

Cherish every moment with stepfather, Tiny and Morry.

Work toward a resolution to this terrible de Quervain's tenosynovitis. Worst thing ever. Appt. on January 9 with hand specialist. No matter what he wants to do, go for it.

Lose some WEIGHT, and finally wear new clothes with tags still on!

Thanks, Christine - inspiring

#1 on the list--so inspiring. Thank you for the reminder! Happy New Year.

I am going to try not to worry so much while - my hubby is in the Middle East.

[ In Reply To ..]
My worrying doesn't make him any safer and it just makes everything harder on the kids and me.

I am going to lose the last 20# I need to lose while he is gone, since it is so much easier to lose while he is not here.

I am going to try to hit the gym every single day, instead of 4 days a week, or at least jog a mile or two at home.

I am going to save some money up and pay off old bills.

Mostly, I am going to try to take everything a little more positively than I have been. Yes, hubby is leaving in two weeks to go to war, but at least he has a job.

*Note, everything on her is *try* because I am going to try not to beat myself up if I can't make everything happen.

Happy New Year, everyone!

That's a tough one. - sm

Good luck to you both, and tell your hubby that a fellow MT on the West Coast says "thank you."

work as much as they'll let me and get debts paid off. yes I overspent at Christmas...

volunteer for a local hospital or hospice and hope that my volunteer work will someday produce a career, and hopefully before transcription runs completely dry...

be happy

cherish whatever time I have left with my elderly parents

lose weight! and exercise more! I need to find exercises to do for my aching back at the end of a long day at this desk!

get outside at least 20 minutes a day. One doctor I type for always advises his patients to have 20 minutes a day of outside activity IN THE SUN (which is not always possible) so I'm going to try it.

get the clutter out of my home so the Hoarders people don't come lol...

Trust God. He is still in charge.

I hear ya on the Hoarder's thing...sm - Old Woman

I have a lot of stuff that I really don't need but just can't quite seem to part with it. Reorganization and clutter control are high on my resolution list this year. My others are

As you said...Trust God. He is in control and His plan is much better than my own.

Get my diabetes under better control.

Appreciate what time I still have with my elderly mother. My dad passed a few years ago, and the realization that I won't have her always has really hit home.

Live more simply. I am far more blessed than I realize, and I have found through necessity that I can live on much less than I ever imagined.

Spend more time with my boys. Although they are a good part of my clutter situation mentioned above, I realize I won't have them at home with me much longer.....or will I?

Continue to work through my church to help others and find ways on my own to do so.

Make more Christmas gifts this year. I spent far more than I really should have, but I missed Christmas entirely last year and wanted to "make up" for it.

Live life. Laugh more. Love much.

wow, we could be clones! I too pretty much skipped Christmas 2010. I managed to come up with gifts but they were either made or dirt cheap, and I felt like this year I had to make up for it. I enjoyed it, but next year going back to the old plan.

and I am certainly living more simply but realize I can do better on that too. I went from a 3-bedroom house to a 2-bedroom apartment and am now in a 1-bedroom apartment. It's as big as I need, but have a lot of stuff I don't have room for and don't need. Goodwill, I'm on my way...

and you mentioned church. I need a home church. It's been a long time since I had one and I need to make that a priority. I have become isolated and I need to get back into life outside my apt. you made me realize that needs to be #1 on my list.

good luck to you and here's wishing all of us a better year!

Sounds like a great list. I, too, want to always remember that God's plan is designed for my benefit, and trusting and believing in him is the key. That's why I made that #1 on my list. I believe saying "thank you" more often in our prayers is so important. It is easy to focus on the things we are lacking, and sometimes we forget what we have been given. My mother passed away two years ago. Each day with an elderly parent or step-parent is a gift. Best of luck to you with better control of your diabetes!

New Years ResolutionsJan 01, 2014
I am finally getting it. If we want to make our world safe and healthy for our kids and future generations, I think we need to make some drastic changes. I personally am going to do all I can to reduce my "energy footprint" by conservation, i.e., CFL/LED lightbulbs, looking into solar, perhaps a dual-fuel car someday. I am also going to try reduce/reuse/recycle more. I am also going to try buy more locally to reduce transportation costs/gas use and support my local area. There is ob ...

DT has been repeating over and over again that Obama was not born in this country.  Now he suddenly changes his mind, blames the whole idea on HC and Trump supporters simply accept his statement.  What does this man have to say to make his fans realize he is the biggest liar in the history of persons running for public office? ...

Why do I find the census an invasion of privacy... Why do I find the census almost non-relevant... First of all, it will take me more than 10 minutes to complete because I have to call them to verify why they say not to include college students when they include as a category under each person if this person resides at college.  If I'm not supposed to include them as living here, why would "in college housing" be an option to choose under person number whatever? And makes no se ...

New Years Eve PlansDec 31, 2011
Anyone have New Year's Eve plans or traditions?  I personally find New Year's Eve depressing, especially since the news people love to re-hash the tragedies of the past year.  We're staying home tonight and I got some movies to watch.  Tomorrow we go to my mother's for the traditional pork and sauerkraut dinner.  (I don't know if that's traditional everywhere, but it is in SE Pennsylvania.)     ...

Change Comes: After 4 Years, Jan 20, 2013
, January 19, 2013 Barack and Michelle Obama have spent more than a thousand days on display before the nation’s eyes, but the personal changes they have undergone can be hard to detect. Up close, though, those who know the Obamas say they can see an accumulation of small shifts in the president and the first lady since they walked the inaugural parade route four years ago. The man who wanted to change the nature of Washington now warns job candidates that it is hard to get any ...

Gum Disease, Had For Years And Now Seeing About Apr 17, 2014
I had gum surgery years ago, never again. Total misery for months, like ongoing birth except no drugs to help me out. Told my dentist all the teeth could fall out before that again so that is how strongly I feel about it. Fast forward now, I am reading on line about laser surgery, lesser pain, fast recovery and wanting to know if others had this and if so what was the outcome. ...

Four More Years Of This? This Is The Part Of The SpeechSep 12, 2012
There was plenty to dislike in Obama's speech. The language was flat, his delivery languid. The speech was stuffed with standard Obama chestnuts about the smallness of politics, the corrupting influence of money in politics, and how cynicism is our worst enemy. Instead of stirring rhetoric filled with hope and promise, Obama pledged that under his leadership, "our path is harder" and "our road is longer." Seriously? After four years of the worst economic recovery since the Depression, fal ...

To Those Undecided Or Those Who Do Not Like Either Candidate...look Beyond The Next 4 YearsSep 30, 2012
Normally in a democracy the government works to expand its citizens' rights.  Look what has been going on in the GOP held states:  Voter suppression, curtailment of women's rights by banning abortion and closing clinics even though constitutionally a right (at least for now), union busting, replacing duly elected officials with appointed city managers, etc.  It is very likely that within the next four years the new president will have the job of replacing up to 4 new sup ...

Do Teeth Shift If You Are Over 50 Years OldFeb 25, 2013
Okay, weird question, but I'm wondering if your teeth shift around after a certain age (I'm 53). The reason is this.  About 4 months or so ago I had a tooth that broke in half.  It is one that has a filling.  Went to the dentist and it cannot be repaired.  It needs to be extracted and then I would get a bridge or partial.  It is not in the front, it is in the middle (3rd tooth from my back molar - in other words if I smile or laugh you don't see it).  ...

Just Wanted To Share....Over The Years...Mar 04, 2013
I have been asked on many occasions if I could show people how to do what I do because "I know you make a ton of money".  Today, that comment is good for a never ending laugh!  I did want to share my two favorites.  Driving through the local Burger King, the gal that handed me my food asked me what I did for a living.  I love this part- I told her and she said, "oh, how nice".  When I gave her a little more detail, she said she was SURE she could do it.  Her mom wo ...

Feet Issues- For YearsAug 22, 2013
I have no idea where to go to get some help for myself. I have tried every single speciality that I thought perhaps could help but this has been going on for over 10 years now and no help. Tried ortho, podiatry, neurologist, nerve conduction studies, x-rays, MRIs, nothing found and no treatment and still going on. If not for Birkie's, have no clue what I would do but still feet aching. At 10 Years Old I Told My Mom I Wanted To Be A BoyNov 07, 2016
I must have scared my mom when I told her I wanted to be a boy. Transgender issues were the furthest thing from my mind.  I knew I could never be president because I was a girl.  I heard this at school.  My teachers always gave the boys the most attention in class and I knew that the same opportunities were not open to me.  I even had to argue with my dad that I should go to college--there was no question in my mind that I deserved to go to college.  I saw the only thing ...
