I don't think the OP is happy our economy is in the trench. I think it's just a matter of wanting people to see the reality of this horrendous administration.
Vindicated? What did Obama do to bring down economy? - This started years ago.
[ In Reply To ..]
What is the vindication? What about the administrations before Obama that allowed tax benefits for companies who shipped work offshore? Who came up with NAFTA which is why American jobs are sent to other countries. Our economy has been a runaway train for years before Obama thanks to lawmakers on both sides bowing to big corporations who funded their campaigns to make laws to support corporation/big business interests instead of the American worker.
You are exactly correct!! - OP

I posted my "sad" comment in the wrong place.
Sad for our country. - OP

Hoping for people to wake up.
People should wake up and do what exactly - do you have a plan?
[ In Reply To ..]
Do you want people to go to India, Philippines, Mexico, China, etc and take the jobs back by force? Perhaps people should wake up and ban the technology that has replaced American workers?
Really I would love to know what you want people to wake up and do?
Vote with their heads. No big government! - sm

It's quite simple really. The economy is only part of the problem. Everything this president has set out to do has become a colossal failure. There is no oversight, no accountability. You name it, it has failed. It is bringing this country down. We are an international laughingstock.
"International laughingstock?" "Vote with heads?" - "No big government?"
[ In Reply To ..]
Nice soundbites that are meaningless. How do you propose to get rid of big government and get people to vote with their heads? I mean you get limited choices, a Republican or a Democrat, to vote for. No candidate cares about anything but power and money. They certainly do not want to eliminate their jobs to decrease government. Face it, it takes lots of money to run a campaign to get elected. Who do you suppose funds these political campaigns and why? Corporations need "favors" (laws) to look out for their interests from politicians and in turn the corporations fund politicians campaigns to ensure the laws favor their interests.
I doubt we are an international laughingstock. Where are you getting your information in this regard? Why would nations be laughing at us other than the nations who have been receiving American jobs for years now beginning with NAFTA years ago (early 90s) and still going on with corporations shipping our American medical records to be done in India.
Regarding NAFTA disadvantages.

And your proposal to get rid of big government is? - LOL
[ In Reply To ..]
People should wake up and vote with their heads for who? What politician is going to get rid of "big government" so we are not an "international laughingstock" (whatever that means).
I'm not going to get into an argument with you. - sm

I have no idea how old you are. I don't need to know, but perhaps you've never heard of Ronald Reagan. Go ahead and flame me for using his name. I can handle it, but I will not get baited by you. I said what I said. I stand by it. There is some history to be learned here, but not by me. Bye.
No argument involved. Just want your thoughts - on how to achieve your goals
[ In Reply To ..]
I'm open to your idea as far as less government but wanted to know how you propose to achieve it with the political system we have in place.
Simple. Elect those who are against big government. - nm

Who do you believe and who is against big government? - Politicians say what they need to to get elected
[ In Reply To ..]
Once they get elected it is a whole different story and they go along to get along. One massive good ole' boy network.
Is there anyone in office that you know of who got elected because they were against big government who has done anything to change it?
Ted Cruz - NK
[ In Reply To ..]
shut it down. Does that count?
In the current environment, they don't go along to get along, thus the gridlock and inability to accomplish anything.
What did Ted Cruz accomplish - and for what it is worth it was temporary right?
[ In Reply To ..]
What I meant by go along to get along, no politician will bust another politician for underhanded practices or shady dealings because they don't want to open up a can of worms because they are all guilty.
Not sure what you want politicians to get done as far as gridlock. No news from politicians is good news for taxpayers. It is beyond my understanding what they get paid for at this point.
You're over-simplifying the problem. If it were - that easy, it wouldve been done by now.

Jobs are being sent offshore and there is no turning back - Technology also affecting economy
[ In Reply To ..]
No spin. Fact is the groundwork for the US economic decline has been set way before Obama took office and there is no way to reverse it. What do you want him to do bring jobs back that are legally able to be shipped offshore? Who legalized that? Think about it.
All it proves is what we knew all along: - That the media has been lying to us.

From a personal viewpoint - it is easy to extrapolate
[ In Reply To ..]
Meaning: Us MTs (and probably other professions as well) have had our pay shrunk, in some cases halved. Most of us have commitments we made back when we were making decent money. This means we can barely afford our mortgage and utility bills (if even that). We cannot afford extras, cannot afford to spend money on luxuries, even small ones.
This is what the US economy is based on, consumerism. The Chamber of Commerce and multinational corporation lobby have pushed and pushed for offshoring and no minimum wage increase.
Do they not get this? What did they think would happen?
Come on, you greedy jerks, an extra $5000 a year back into OUR pockets from your rich pockets would make all the difference, but noooo...never enough for these rich megalomaniacs who wish also to not pay any taxes.
Deregulation and no penalties for offshoring jobs and $ is the cause of the economy shrinkage, and with this current congress, well, we are not going to change that, are we.

Budget Deficit Shrinks By $200 BillionOct 13, 2012
It starts with the figures released in 2009, when the deficit reached a record high of $1.4 trillion. Why is the column in red? Because, thanks to fiscal years, Obama inherited a deficit of nearly $1.3 trillion from Bush/Cheney the moment he took the oath of office.
This year, however, according to the official data published by the Treasury Department, the deficit is 1.089 trillion.
A big number, but going down--no thanks to those helpful Republicans in Congress. ...

20 Ways The Economy Has Gotten Worse Since Barack Obama Became President
By almost any measure that you can think of, the U.S. economy has gotten worse since Barack Obama became president. Unemployment is higher, the cost of food and gas are skyrocketing, the number of Americans living in poverty has spiked dramatically, the housing market is in nightmarish shape and our national debt has absolutely exploded.
Meanwhile, Barack Obama continues to prance around the countr ...
