Newspapers going out of business, do they care?

Posted: Oct 28, 2009

I have gotten the newspaper for years now although as everyone knows with the internet and other means, newspapers going downhill fast. I have called and called my carrier, same complaint, asking to speak to supervisors trying to get the situation straightened out. I know for a fact if a subscriber has a special request, this newspaper goes along with that, or is supposed to. I have received the papers folded over so much (4 folds completely) that by the time I would get them cannot sit in a chair having the morning coffee trying to read because of them being so bunched up. I cancelled my subscription today. The lady real apolegetic when finding out why I was letting my subscription go, asking could she not put in an emergency request. I said no, read where I have called and called and no one listened and now this is it. I am surprised when a company is doing so poorly can they not listen to the customer?

I mean you would think that they would be supportive of their customers!!! A few years ago I go the paper delivered because it was cheaper then getting at the news stand.... anyways I never got my papers and I complained and then they said that they will look into it. Well I still didn't get my paper and they told me that the person is delivering them and I am not looking hard enough or my neighbor is stealing my paper. I basically have no neighbors! I mean I do, but they would have to walk a heck of a long way to steal my paper. Plus both my neighbors get the paper! I called them again to cancel and asked for a refund because I had already prepaid and I have still to get that and that was 2 years ago. I just eventually gave up calling because it was only $20 and not much to take them to court over, but I did complain with the BBB!!!

I hate online coupons!!! I love to spend a Sunday clipping coupons even if they just sit on my desk till they expire!

Other vendors don't care either - unimportant customer

I have gotten into it recently with both AT&T and Comcast. Both my issues are ongoing, both companies are uninterested in my complaints, and both companies continue to bombard me with advertising for more services although I have threatened to drop both of them if they don't get their act together, fix my problems, and quit wasting my time arguing with me. Nothing ever changes no matter how many times I complain.

I think it was about 10 days ago or so that I predicted a 7-point popular vote win for Romney and a 30-vote win in the electoral college.  If he's up by 7 points now, he might win by more since late-deciders usually vote against the incumbent. ...

Health Care Reform-Question About Canadian Health CareDec 03, 2009
So....a friend is for our US health care reform (already retired and on Medicare) because he had no trouble going to Canada to get laser surgery on his eyes so he wouldn't have to wear glasses and states there is nothing wrong with the Canadian system....but, and I'm asking a serious question here, how long do people really wait for emergent surgery if they belong to the Canadian system versus the American system as we have it now? How did Canada get their health care system up and ru ...

How Do You Allow Your Dog To Do Their Business?Feb 16, 2010
So to those who do own dogs, do you walk them, tie them to a tree/lead or just let them wander around the yard (hopefully a fenced yard) on their own? While I was growing up, we raised 3 dogs and all lived to be from 14-17 yo. They were always walked several times a day no matter what the weather was. Never did we have them outside in a yard, nor did we have them tied to a tree or anything else. To my parents, tying them up and allowing them be alone outside was just unthinkable. In two weeks, ...

How Trump is Draining the Swamp Chaos or strategy? This Might Explain a Lot of Things Going on at The White House "Apparently, liberals and never-Trumpers are so isolated in their political circles that they have no concept how things work in the real world of business and corporate America. For example, they completely fail to grasp the concept of the "hatchet man." Allow me to explain: Say you are a business tycoon. You just successfully completed a large-scale acquisition an ...

I read the post below about the lady whose family cook book is getting published, and also once in a while see someone posting their stuff on Esty.  That's amazing. Regulations And BusinessOct 24, 2012
I saw some comments on the board recently about the strangulation of business through regulation.  It's a subject I've always been fascinated by because of its vast complexity, politicization and above all a complete lack of named regulations.  It's so rare that any politician right or left ever names an individual regulation they don't like.  They are always referred to in bulk: "Those darn regulations are killing American jobs."  Certainly some are point ...

How Much Does A Business Have To Make Before It Does Not Have To Pay TaxesApr 05, 2011
We've been asking the wrong question. My family has a business. We hire people, so according to the current standards, we should not have to pay taxes. We are creating jobs. However, we have not yet reached that magic number. It's  higher than most of you think. You have to make more than a million a year, much more than that probably, before you get to stop paying taxes. Before you get to that point, you get to save money in other ways. I paid cash for my house. I pay cash for ...

Trump Bad For Local BusinessFeb 20, 2017
For some of the businesses and government agencies that surround President Trump’s “Winter White House,” the effects of his frequent weekend getaways to Mar-a-Lago can best be told in numbers. $200,000 in lost fuel sales at a large local airport in a single four-day visit this month. 75 no-shows at a new restaurant in just one night. $60,000 a day to pay overtime to sheriff’s deputies who guard the many closed roads, a tab that is about $1.5 million over all ...

Democrats Are The Best Friends Big Business Every Had.Oct 13, 2015
contenders at Tuesday's Democratic presidential debate will say they're the toughest on big business. What they won't say is their own policies favor big business, big time. Health Overhaul's Assault On BusinessMar 19, 2010
Health Overhaul's Assault On Business Posted 07:07 PM ET Taxes: If ObamaCare becomes permanent, no one will suffer more than U.S. businesses. The heavy-equipment giant reckons its insurance costs will go up 20%, or $100 million, the first year after the health care system is overhauled, and may go even higher.
