I finally fit in my skinny jeans - WOOHOO

Well at least they are skinny jeans to me :-)  I have been losing weight (could be something to do with my monikers name LOL) and can't tell you how excited I am.  4 years ago I was up to 200 pounds.  I stepped on a scale and I finally hit in the 150s (159.8) actually.  Gotta love that .2 pounds that brought me into the 150s which is a huge high for me.  I never thought I'd see the 150s again.  I think 1998 is when I weighed this much.  I've been saving my favorite pair of jeans that are brand new (worn once or twice before I gained), so didn't think I'd be able to fit yet, but was curious.  Last time I tried them on they only came up to my knees.  And low and behold viola!  They fit and I could zip them up and I'm TOTALLY excited.  I spent the morning dancing around my house jumping up and down.  :-)  Also I have just noticed my psoriasis behind my ear is gone and I looked and I don't have a double chin anymore.  These are things I didn't notice over time because I just don't spend a lot of time looking at myself in the mirror (except to brush my teeth). - Okay sorry if I bored anyone, just had to write to someone and tell them.  Now if I can just get enough energy to exercise I might lose more, but 29 more pounds and I will hit my goal.

I've got a couple pair of those skinny jeans waiting in my closet too. In another month, I hope to be moving them into my dresser :-) You'll be an encouragement as I work towards my own fitness goals.

So proud of you! I just started a couple of days ago on a low-calorie diet and weigh about the same as you and wanting to see the 150s again!

My daughter is needing surgery and doctor has put her on the HCG 500-calorie diet, plus B12 shots. I decided I could lose with her; not the HCG diet, but below 1000 a day.

My epiphany occurred 3 years ago. I had bought a pair of 7 For All Mankind jeans, ungodly expensive at the time, as my "inspiration." My boyfriend (now hubby)moved in with me a few months later and took over all the cooking. He wasn't used to "filler" food, so we ate primarily beef, chicken, lots of fish and salmon, salad, fresh veggies and occasionally fruit. I also started walking about 1-2 miles per day, 5 days per week.

Man oh man, that weight just literally MELTED away. Within 6 months, I put them on just to check my progress and, well, ended up wearing them to work (in-house) that day with a pair of designer loafers, a blazer and a pretty tank top. Most comfortable jeans EVER, and didn't stretch out or become "saggy" anywhere as the day wore on.

The downside is I tried them on a week or so ago and *gulp* I can't zip them now. My eating habits haven't really changed, but I have cut back on the walking because of summer's 110+ degree heat. So, back I go to walking because I LOVE those jeans! Just for added inspiration, I've ordered my little dog the cutest little harness vest and leash so it looks like I'm walking my dog instead of walking off that added MT belly bulge, LOL!

I felt just like you did when I zipped those babies up and walked out the door wearing them...It's a total adrenalin rush, isn't it?

Congrats, and you go, girl! I'll be back in mine before Christmas (I have them out on a hanger as a daily reminder, LOL!).

calories - beware

I was on a diet 500 calories a day, and almost ended up in the hospital with ketosis and walking into walls because I was dizzy. Too low calories and mine was doctor-assisted also. I was losing muscle while on that few calories.

Any diet that is so low-cal that it discourages - exercise is a a VERY bad idea.

It's a gimmick and I don't care whether or not a doctor advocates it. It is unhealthy. The best way to lose weight is with diet AND exercise. If you are on a diet that excludes exercise, something is wrong. I think I would find a different doctor.

You don't need to starve yourself or go way low-calorie, and even if you just move a little more (take the stairs, park farther away, etc.) that will help even without actual planned "exercise" although that will help. I believe she said she needs to "get in some exercise," not that she was on a diet plan that excluded exercise. Sometimes it's easier to lose a little weight first because then you will be more ABLE to exercise (walking, etc.)

I can't tell if this post and the one below it were insinuating I somehow drastically cut calories or my diet didn't include exercise or not but in case there's some..."comprehension" issues with my post, I ate all I wanted. I just cut out all the starchy filler food that so many people overdo it on...potatoes, rice, etc. I hate VERY healthily with lots of grilled meat/fish, fresh veggies and salads. I thought my post made that pretty darned clear.

And, just because I chose to not walk 1-2 miles per day during 110-plus degree heat doesn't mean my doctor told me not to nor did I say anywhere that I was on some crazy diet during the summer months, either. I said now that the cool weather was here, I could start walking again as I had put on a bit of weight over the summer and was buying my dog a cute little harness so I'd have a reason to walk.

I dunno...I'm beginning to think some people either don't bother to read an entire post or have EXTREMELY selective comprehension.

Thanks for clarifying that, because I'd NEVER advocate not eating as a way to lose weight. I'd never survive on 500 calories per day...I love my food too much, LOL!

I even re-read my post a couple of times to make sure I hadn't inadvertently conveyed the idea that I (or ANYONE) should starve to lose weight or that I advocated not exercising. Not that I'm a complete health freak, but I don't think it's healthy for anyone to try to exist on 500 calories a day with no exercise; it might work for some, but if I even tried that, not only would I fail on about day #3 but I just find "quick fixes" mean one normally gains the weight back soooo quickly.

Quick story but I worked with a very large woman who went on the MediFast liquid diet (this was about 20 years ago and all the rage). She talked about it CONSTANTLY. Well, when it came time for her to be able to start to slowly begin eating solid food, I went up to her desk to give her a project one day and she was eating Twinkies. Without even thinking, I said, "Oh, wow, that's so cool that you're allowed treats now!" Man oh man, if looks could kill, she'd have murdered me on the spot. She said, "NO, those AREN'T allowed on my diet but I'm under stress, so I wish everyone would just SHUT UP ABOUT THAT DIET ALREADY!!!" Whoa...She put back on the 60 pounds she had lost within about 6 months, sadly enough, but I darn sure never mentioned Twinkies around here again :P

That is so awesome for you. I was up to 185, am 5 feet 4 inches, and ate out a lot. I started Weight Watchers when a friend was head of the local group but stopped after a few weeks when I got the calorie/plate size counts down. It took us a few yrs, but between the bike (which I hate and do not do religiously) and the food choices, I've lost 70 and he has 50, though I've found the Little Debby packs he sneaks in. :)
