LOVE IT!

President Trump has INSISTED -- and made it a CONDITION -- that the Keystone pipeline be built with U.S. steel!!

This will mean JOBS FOR U.S. STEELWORKERS in addition to the 28,000 KS pipeline NEW JOBS!!

Current figure I just heard on radio (not sure if that includes this KS pipeline - steel deal) is 1.5 million.

A few thousand temporary jobs is more like it. I know the right will slam this article but I thought it was an interesting read. It is from 2012 but has some interesting things about this pipeline.

As stated in the post that you responded to, the 1.2 million figure, as outlined in the article linked in the post above yours, is TO DATE as of 01/17/2017. That includes Carrier jobs, etc.

As stated in that post, I DOUBT that the 1.2 million figure includes the pipeline since that piece was -- again -- dated 01/17/2017.

That oil that would flow through that pipeline is not "our" oil. That oil is Canadian oil.

On another note, this link shows a map of how many pipelines we have in this country and talks about dangers associated with them. At the very end of this article, it explains the concerns President Obama had with this pipeline back in 2012. He wanted more studies on the safety of it. It hadn't been approved at the time he left office.

I wonder, did Trump get the results of these studies done before he okayed it? Did he do that on his first day or before the election or does he also just think it's our oil?

The map is utterly horrifying on how many pipelines are already running through this country and more and more spills from these are happening as these things are aging.

It isn't anywhere near 1.5 million jobs. Trump makes everything he does sound 100 times better than it really is. It's his "alternative fact." Every other country in the world is watching him to see what his next step is going to be and we are going to be the ones to suffer their wrath if he pisses anyone off, and chances are good that he will. If he lasts 4 years (and I sincerely hope he doesn't), this country will be unrecognizable, and not in a good way.

approximately 4,000 jobs in construction of the pipeline which will end when it is finished. The other jobs are ancillary services for pipeline workers which will end when construction is finished. There will only be about 35 permanent jobs.

They buy food, coffee, gasoline, clothes, rent housing, transportation, etc. Approximately 26,000 new jobs are anticipated from KS Pipeline due to this indirect spending (figure from Obama Administration's State Dept.).

However, the environmental risks many don't feel are worth those temporary jobs. Use the American steel to rebuild our infrastructure; we need that more than a pipeline running Canadian oil through our precious land. Of course, we ALL want good-paying MT jobs. But, with EMDRs -- which are NOT going away -- I honestly don't see that happening.

When people are working, EVERYONE benefits. More economic activity means more money in circulation. GDP rises, resultant social problems from high employment decrease.

It is on Native American land, not to mention the environmental impact it is going to have for us and future generations. Did the concept of less dependence on oil, fewer gas guzzler SUVs or public transportation not occur to anyone? It's not being built with US Steel, by the way, that industry was outsourced long ago, along with the auto industry.

You are confused.

The Dakota Access pipeline is adjacent to -- not ON -- NA land. It runs near the reservation's water supply. The Army Corp of Engineers has halted all movement on that until an environmental impact study is completed, and they are considering relocating the route to protect the water supply.

Keystone pipeline is NOT on NA land.

I understand that the steel was already here for this pipeline, yet the president said the Keystone pipeline will not be build unless it is with American steel. There were many on the right that were boasting about what he said and how great it woud be for American steelworkers. It seems yet another promise broken by the conman.
