FITTING JEANS

Posted: Mar 29, 2013

As I have gotten a little older, I have more flab in the ab area and was wondering if anyone knows of jeans that are tighter on the hips and loser in the waist area.  I actually got some jeans, that I think are irregular, becasue they fit just like that and I love them!  I went to get the same brand again, but the others don't fit this way.  Wish I could just get me some custom jeans made.

Lands End used to do custom fit jeans using your measurements. Mine fit perfectly. It has been a few years, so you might want to check if they still do this.

They are cut for women, not teens or twigs. The waist is a bit roomier, yes. "Amanda" are relaxed fit. Another style is narrower in the hips.

They use slightly stretchy denim, so there is some give. They hold up well, wash well, and don't shrink. In fact, I lost weight and tried to shrink them, but couldn't. Colors are good and don't fade. (I use Woolite for dark colors, which helps.)

Beall's in Florida, which has online, carries them. They go on sale often at great prices -- especially if you have a 20% or $10 off coupon.

I find Amanda by GVanderbilt fit me perfectly. However, the "dryer" does a job on them so I wash them gently in cold water in the bathtub, hang them on pants hangers from the shower and "just like new". I found after a few trips to the dryer, even on cool, they do shrink (excuse for me overeating sometimes). But my best luck, now that they're in colors, try to buy some light colors for spring. Good luck, I think all jeans really do shrink, try drying them wet and see - they will come out just fine!

Baby Boomers, all sizes, shapes and lengths. A lot of stretch in the waist. Smaller pockets in the back. Some are pricey, but great when on sale. They wash well and retain their shape.

Try jeans you would normally would not. - Explanation. sm

I am 50, short, thick waist, well, let's just say if I wear a long dress, I look like a fancy fire hydrant. I tried on multiple jeans and recently found misses extra large skinny jeans that had the best fit for me. I am not a "misses" and rarely an extra large. Point is, try on anything that you think might fit, regardless of the size or how it is labeled. Even try boys'/men's jeans, which is where I'm going to try next. Good luck. I understand what you are going through.

I like White Stag - see message

I like White Stag. They have a stretch denim pant, and the back of the waist has an elastic strip for give. They are pull-on, which since now that I have a belly, I find more comfortable than zipper and button. The only thing I don't like is that there are no pockets, side or back, but you could look around and see if they have one like that if pockets are important to you.

The ones I'm referring to are actually probably not jeans, as there is no thick side seam. So, they're a little dressier than actual jeans which is another reason I like them.

They have tons of shapes, cuts, and sizes for funky older body types.

They can be pricey - $50 and up - but I got my first pair from Santa in 2005 and am still wearing them. They are a little frayed on the hem and faded in color, both things that only add to the coolness and comfort of "favorite old jeans," but no rips or broken hardware in all these years.

I just recently paid $79 for a new pair. LOVE American Eagle jeans!

I'm having trouble finding a good fitting pair of jeans.  I have a large waist with a small butt and hips.  I am wondering if anyone else shaped like me could recommend a good fitting pair of jeans.  If they fit around the waist, they are baggy in the butt and hips.  Thanks! ...

I Finally Fit In My Skinny Jeans - WOOHOOOct 15, 2011
Well at least they are skinny jeans to me :-)  I have been losing weight (could be something to do with my monikers name LOL) and can't tell you how excited I am.  4 years ago I was up to 200 pounds.  I stepped on a scale and I finally hit in the 150s (159.8) actually.  Gotta love that .2 pounds that brought me into the 150s which is a huge high for me.  I never thought I'd see the 150s again.  I think 1998 is when I weighed this much.  I've been ...
