Gotta love life in a small town! Two ambulances, a fire truck, and two cops

are at my neighbor's house. I just get five phone calls in the last five minutes from friends and family wondering if the cops are at my house! No they're not and I'm not dealing drugs, no murder/suicide, no domestic dispute! I'm just sitting here workiing. Oh and I don't know what's going on at my neighbors because it's NONE OF MY BUSINESS! And I'm not going to be a lookiloo and go asking around! Geez! I'm sure it will be in next week's paper or you'll hear about at the grocery store!

I swear people can be so, so.... NOSY!

I once rented an apartment upstairs from a doctor and his wife. They were up in years, but he was still working. The wife called me one day early in the morning, very upset and asked why my car was still outside. She said she noticed I hadn't gone to work the last few days. I think she was afraid I lost my job. When I finally got a chance to say something I told her I was on vacation and had the week off. I used to see her looking out the kitchen window as I came around the back of the house to my stairway to get my mail. She knew what time I got home, and I'll bet she looked at the return address on each piece of my mail. My roommate loved our beautiful apartment in their stone home, but to me it wasn't worth it. It's unbelievable, isn't it?

When my husband deployed last year, after we first moved into our house, although we live in a small town, the area I live in is very rural. I often wondered how long it would take for someone to miss me if something were to happen and if my children would be found; how many weeks of church would I have to miss before someone came looking for me? Sometimes having someone concerned is not such a bad thing, although it can be a little unnerving.

Gee you must live in the same small town I do. I like the fact that people look out for each other. What I don't like is feeling like I live in a fish bowl, where everything I do is reported around. Never thought I was that interesting really! My other favorite is that it takes three cops to pull one poor person over for a ticket. I see it all the time here. They must be really bored!
