So, this is what the presidency has degenerated into...
;It's the Republicans that want only the rich and the poor. They're the ones killing the middle class. They're the ones who are against healthcare for all. They're the ones who oppose closing corporate loopholes.
Obama is trying to help the middle class. Republicans want to destroy it.
who purchased a car, big screen TV and more of life's conveniences while he/she was employed, only to lose his/her job and is currently laid off and has been for a couple years now.
Do you begrudge those items he/she owns even though he/she bought them while gainfully employed?
I waited two years before I won my Social Security Disability case. During that time, I simply couldn't afford my car payments any more and PLEADED with them to just repossess the car. They finally did and were very nice about it.
The point is that I bought my car while still gainfully employed, before I got sick. After I got sick, my insurance premiums went up to $711.00 per month. My employer would have paid for half of it, but I wasn't meeting the production goals for that to happen because I was in the hospital a lot.
I finally had to quit what had become my part-time job (I changed my status to part time after I realized I couldn't work like I used to because of my illness).
By this time, I was receiving a very small stipend from AND (Aid to Needy or Disabled) in the amount of $200.00 per month, plus food stamps. I wasn't eligible for any kind of medical care. (By the way, when I won my Social Security Disability case, every single penny of the AND stipend I received was paid back to the county/state.)
I was lucky enough to be able to move into a HUD apartment building, and my rent payments were very, very low until I won my case. Now, of course, it's more in line with what other rents go for in the area, but if that option wasn't offered to me, I don't know what I would have done. It's an apartment complex where elderly/sick people live, and I like it here and don't plan on moving anywhere else in the future.
That's my reality. How does that fit with yours?
