So, this is what the presidency has degenerated into...

;

pass bill - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
Someone in the audience yelled to the President "I love you," and the president merely responded back with that.

I do love our president and I sure woud like to - pass that bill!

[ In Reply To ..]
If we could get that Do Nothing Congress do something to help the people of this country, I would be SO HAPPY!

dont pass the bill - me

[ In Reply To ..]
How many stupid bills does he have to pass for you to realize this guy has no intention of helping the economy or help private sector job creators. He will only help his union buddies and green job buddies, he wants to eliminate the middle class so that there are only two classes, poor, and rich. Why cant people see through this Marxist? He announced his run for presidency from Bill Ayer's living room, everybody knows that. all his friends are Socialists or Marxist revolutionaries. stop listening to propaganda. the truth is out there.
Oh, my, you have it completely backwards!! - sm
[ In Reply To ..]

It's the Republicans that want only the rich and the poor.  They're the ones killing the middle class.  They're the ones who are against healthcare for all.  They're the ones who oppose closing corporate loopholes.

Obama is trying to help the middle class.  Republicans want to destroy it.

More blind followers - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
So far I've seen very little from either party in regards to actually helping the middle class.

Just a quick question though....do higher gas prices help or hurt the middle class because the last time I checked...democrats openly want higher gas prices. When government taxes businesses more and put more regulations on them that cost the business money...who ends up paying for that raise in taxes and more regulations? Consumers pay for that because prices are raised to offset the raise in taxes, etc. So that obviously doesn't help the middle class either. These are just 2 examples of how this administration is hurting the middle class. Did Bush's administration hurt the middle class? Yes. Now Obama's administration is hurting the middle class and anyone too blind to admit that is just sad.

Look at the numbers. The unemployment numbers are still higher under Obama. Our national debt is still higher under Obama. Regulations are higher under Obama. Gas prices are higher under Obama. Stimulus #1 wasted a lot of tax payer money instead of creating many jobs. Now Obama wants stimulus #2 and some of you want that? Have you lost your minds? Wasn't stimulus #1 enough proof that government shouldn't decide where to spend OUR money!!!! Sheesh....it would have been MORE stimulating to our economy had the government just divided stimulus #1 up between CITIZENS of the US and allowed us to spend that money ourselves. My husband and I would have paid off our house and then had plenty of money to spend and stimulate the economy. As it is we spend very little because of our house payment and the fear of the economy getting worse.
You are blindly following the republican mantra that the #1....sm - NOT TRUE
[ In Reply To ..]
stimulous did zero to slow and eventually halt our slide into the abyss. This is simply NOT TRUE! The facts are easily found on line.
Hahaha - you make me laugh
[ In Reply To ..]
Methinks if you actually had facts, you would have put some here.

The stimulus was an abject failure; as a start, if it had worked, why on earth would we need another one?

I feel bad for you that you are so blind you cannot see.
The stimulus did very little if anything at all - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
to help our economy. It created few jobs at a huge cost. Obama himself admitted that the shovel-ready jobs he promised the country didn't work out. As for proof of failue....look at Solyndra.....a half a billion of tax payer dollars WASTED!!!

If the government would stop spending money like crazy, perhaps investors would invest in the economy themselves but now they are too scared to invest their money because they know the more money government spends, sooner or later taxes are gonna be raised to pay for it....not to mention the over regulation going on that is costing business owners money and stopping many people from expanding or starting a business.

I swear...every time Obama gives a speech about how he is helping or going to help our economy, it seems like the stock market goes down and unemployment ticks upward and yet some of you still don't get it. Obama is a lawyer...not a business owner or even a business manager. He doesn't get it and obviously a lot of you don't either.

I'm not one of those that pander to tax cuts all the time. I think we do need to bring in more revenue so obviously some tax reform is necessary. You cannot cut taxes, cut spending, and yet INVEST at the same time and things work. For 1...tax cuts make the debt go higher. For 2...you cannot cut spending and invest at the same time. Investing is spending...duh! That is counterproductive and doesn't cut any spending in the long run.
Good to know we've got a bunch of top-notch - economists posting here nm

I watch the spin on MSNBC (the obama zombies). the only mantra around here is the propaganda mantra. Havn't you seen the videos of obama himself telling his union buddies how much he wants a single payer plan and he has to be careful not to push it too fast for fear of us normal people losing it? No you havn't. There are lots of shocking videos like this in his own words The Blaze... on line. I believe its called theblaze.com
Wow, this post is almost a parody. Sort of like the Onion. - me too

"Bill Ayer's living room," Do you actually believe this?

My husband is actually Facebook friends with Bill Ayers. I don't remember him saying anything about this.
Actually, we don't all know that... - mbmt
[ In Reply To ..]
Bill Ayers and President Obama are not close friends. You know that, don't you?
You also know that all of Bill Ayer's friends are not Socialists or Marxist revolutionaries, and the same can be said for President Obama. You are right about one thing and that being that the truth is out there. May I suggest that you do a little research and find out what the truth really is.

I say ENOUGH, pass the bill! nm - oldtimer

everything he asks for for the next year. If things do not get better the next president will be a republican. We cannot stay in limbo for the next year hoping that a new administration will do better. Pass the bill.
I kinda feel the same way you do - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
Let him pass this bill and see the damage it will do. It will raise our national debt and create little if any jobs....just like stimulus #1. Who will Obama blame then? It was HIS bill. Although I have a feeling he would still blame the republicans for letting them pass the bill. lol Oh..and I'm sure George Bush will still be at fault too...even though he is retired in Texas and not active in politics...but whatever.
I think they have to pass it - hmmm
[ In Reply To ..]
If they don't, and the economy continues in the tank, Obama will have the Republicans as a scape goat again. If they pass it, and the economy continues to tank, it will lead to more dissatisfied voters and a stronger trend toward Obama's defeat.

I am of the opinion that this bill is just Obama's way of playing chicken with the Republicans and not intended to be a serious attempt at job creation or turning the economy around.

Instead of "pass this bill," the rallying cry should be "call his bluff!"
I think they have to pass it - me
[ In Reply To ..]
This bill will not pass because we are calling his bluff. All Obama and his team to (really good) is blame republicans and tea parties for all their problem. so when something goes wrong, they can blame. All democrats do is whine and complain and blame republicans for their problems but never ever ever have any good common sense plan to fix things. They just organize and fool other dummies to join them so they can bash the republicans while the other hand is caniving (making you think the government is the answer). they need to stay out of our lives and our freedoms.
I'm curious. Which SPECIFIC freedom have - you personally lost? nm
[ In Reply To ..]
The freedom to decide whether or not - I want to purchase health
[ In Reply To ..]
insurance and whether or not it is comprehensive or catastrophic. Where have you been hiding?
Don't forget about the freedom to buy car insurance or not. sm - get real
[ In Reply To ..]
...then there is the freedom not to pay taxes and opt out of having the fire department respond if I have a fire in my house. All that is fine if you have the resources to meet any emergency. Most people do not and would be at the mercy of society without insurance.
Apples and Oranges - just saying
[ In Reply To ..]
Car insurance and health insurance are two different things. Car insurance is there to protect YOU from the OTHER PERSON. Alternatively, car insurance is there to protect THE OTHER PERSON from YOU.

Health insurance only protects the claiment's wallet (if that), and it should be someone's personal CHOICE... What's it to you if I want to go without health insurance? Or if I don't want to go to the doctor? How does that affect your life? It doesn't.

If I hit you with my car, it would affect your life, and my car insurance is there to protect and compensate you for my negligence.
Not to mention that nobody has to drive a car. - You can opt out of buying
[ In Reply To ..]
car insurance by opting to not drive a car. Forcing somebody to buy health insurance is forcing one to buy something, just for being alive. There is a BIG difference there. As far as the fire department, don't you think you just might be stretching things a bit? The challenge was to tell what specific rights I have lost during this administration. Asked and answered. Thinking that I should have never had that right to begin with does not change that I have very clearly lost a right.
So what about the girl/guy... - sm
[ In Reply To ..]

who purchased a car, big screen TV and more of life's conveniences while he/she was employed, only to lose his/her job and is currently laid off and has been for a couple years now.

Do you begrudge those items he/she owns even though he/she bought them while gainfully employed?

I waited two years before I won my Social Security Disability case.  During that time, I simply couldn't afford my car payments any more and PLEADED with them to just repossess the car.  They finally did and were very nice about it.

The point is that I bought my car while still gainfully employed, before I got sick.  After I got sick, my insurance premiums went up to $711.00 per month. My employer would have paid for half of it, but I wasn't meeting the production goals for that to happen because I was in the hospital a lot.

I finally had to quit what had become my part-time job (I changed my status to part time after I realized I couldn't work like I used to because of my illness).

By this time, I was receiving a very small stipend from AND (Aid to Needy or Disabled) in the amount of $200.00 per month, plus food stamps.  I wasn't eligible for any kind of medical care.  (By the way, when I won my Social Security Disability case, every single penny of the AND stipend I received was paid back to the county/state.)

I was lucky enough to be able to move into a HUD apartment building, and my rent payments were very, very low until I won my case.  Now, of course, it's more in line with what other rents go for in the area, but if that option wasn't offered to me, I don't know what I would have done.  It's an apartment complex where elderly/sick people live, and I like it here and don't plan on moving anywhere else in the future.

That's my reality.  How does that fit with yours?

What on Earth does this have to do with the topic - being discussed.
[ In Reply To ..]
I am not quite sure how to answer this question because it does not relate to the fact that I have lost the right to decide not to buy insurance, which is what I was commenting about.
My post was in response to the poster writing - about not "having" to drive a car. sm
[ In Reply To ..]
What if you get a better deal under Obamacare? How will you feel then?

Some people wait until the program is actually operational before judging that it's negative. Your willingness to want to stay with your current insurance coverage just might be overrun by a good experience with Obamacare.

As far as the mandate for having insurance, if you already have insurance coverage, then it's a moot point.

Are you one of those who complains about people using our ERs and then not paying for the service? At least this way, there will be a pool of collected fees to help pay the hospital bills.

I agree with the mandate. People should WANT to be insured, and then there wouldn't be the need for the mandate.

Obama is trying to make it so everyone pays his/her fair share. Of course, you're against it!
Somebody said that you have to buy car insurance. - That is not true. You only have to buy
[ In Reply To ..]
car insurance if you want to drive. That was the point I was making. The rest of this stuff, I have no idea what you are talking about. I do have insurance now and am happy with it, but I have chosen to go without in the past and think that I should be given that option. It is not up to the government to tell me what I must purchase in the private sector in order to live. By the way, driving is a privilege. Not everyone is even allowed to drive, thus not everyone is forced to buy auto insurance. They are totally separate things. I stand by what I said. I have lost freedoms to this administration and I will probably lose my insurance that I like. Also, Obama is not trying to make everyone pay his/her fair share.
Why do you think you will lose the insurance - that you like? nm

I said that I do not like being told not only that I have to purchase health insurance, but what kind to purchase, as well, and that this is a specific right that has been taken away during this administration--the right to choose not to buy health insurance or to buy only catastrophic health insurance.

However, if you really want my opinion, if you can't pay your bills, you should probably sell that big screen tv to help out.
Just for the record, I don't own a big-screen TV. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
The rest of the post, though, is something that happened in my life.
Whydo people keep comparing two different things - that do not have anything to do with each other
[ In Reply To ..]
You're comparing vehicles to health. Why not compare adopting a baby to getting fries with your hamburger or watching TV versus eating spaghetti. They are all totally different things and you cannot compare buying car insurance to heath care.

I know, we almost want the bill to pass just to show these obama zombies that they voted for the wrong person. But it definitely woke up alot of people, alot of republicans as well as democrats. We know what he is up to but they are still asleep, they don't know what they are doing to us and to themselves by keeping this fonybaloni in the white house. all the economists quit, they wont let geitner leave by the way. anyway thank God Glenn Beck was one of the first people to start waking people up. some hate him, because they refused to listen to him. you can still watch him on GBtv online. and see some of his videos for free as well.

is a Wall Street propaganda rag. I do not deny that the Big Money Corporate Lobbyists are pushing for Obama's plan to fail. They are. The reason: Because they want to go back to the good ol' Bush days of deregulatated banking, further deregulations of environmental protections, crushing of all unions, dismantling of fair labor laws, etc. They want the good ol' Wild West Bush days of low taxes and no prosecutions and continued outsourcing and offshoring of jobs and profits.

By they way, none of this is good for us worker bees, struggling midde-class type folks.

Even Wall street is shooting themselves in the foot. The DOw is up something like 3,000 points since Obama took office and corporate profits are up enormously--did I read 80%? Such fools.
