First let me just say that I couldn't live without Google. We have practicallly every resource at our fingertips that allows us to do a great job. But sometimes it just cracks me up what comes up in the search engine. I typed in Dallas Renal Group to look up a doctor's name. At the top of the results page I saw Texas Dance Bands with a website address for a talent booking agency.

Thanks, Google, for providing my giggle for the day!

Put quotes - On phrases...see msg

That is so funny.

I put quotation marks on my phrases, and that way, ONLY suggestions for that phrase comes up. In other words "dallas renal group" will only show the words in that order.

If you use an asterisk plus the quotes, it will give suggestions where the asterisk is. "dallas * group."

Oh, as long as I'm here---the dangers of believing everything you see on a general Google search. Diabetes melitis. Yeeps.

I always thought you could use an asterisk for things you weren't sure of, but could never get it to work. I'll try it with the quotes around it.

Yes, the one problem with Google is that misspelled words end up there, too. When I'm trying to confirm a spelling (or capitalization/punctuation) I look at several different sources before deciding, and also check to see where the info is coming from; is it a reputable site or just someone's personal blog?

I use DDG (DuckDuckGo) instead of Google because DDG doesn't track its users like Google does. I typed at the keyword: dallas renal group and was instantly taken to their website.

There is something about a place that tracks its users and collects information on them that just creeps me out. There is just some things about my personal life and what I look at on the internet that nobody needs to know whether it's a site looking up a medication for a report I'm typing, or whether its looking at some religious website, looking at the specials on sale at my local supermarket or even if I wanted to look at a sex related website. I don't want anyone tracking what I'm looking at.

I love Bing because every day there is a new pic up. Sometimes it's a moving pick. In the pick there are 4 different boxes with information about the pic. One of them once took me to some National Geographic film clip of some frogs in the Amazon that vibrate to ward off their enemies. With Bing there is always at least 4 different things I learn each day on a place I've never been or whatever the picture is about. I think Bing is the best, but now I'm curious about DDG.

My old dinosaur TV died. We always hooked up the computer to the TV to watch movies and TV shows from free online sites.
