Buttermilk Chicken....sm - Old Woman
[ In Reply To ..]
3 skinless boneless chicken breasts
1 cup buttermilk
1 can cream of mushroom soup
Pot of rice
Cut chicken breasts into small pieces. Salt and pepper to taste (easy on the salt because of the soup and tartness of buttermilk). Mis soup and buttermilk and pour over chicken in casserole dish. Bake at 400 until chicken is done and soup mixture starts to brown. Serve with rice, veggie and warm French bread. YUMMY!
Tried this chicken recipe... - It was delicious!

Easy and economical. Thanks so much!
Glad you enjoyed it...sm - Old Woman

Same Old Turkey Dinner Every Year.Nov 13, 2012Every year I make turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, cranberry sauce, homemade bread and pumpkin pie. The daughters will bring another dessert or two. These are all traditional foods that my family enjoys, but I am so bored with it. I need some new, fresh, and different ideas. Even if I did something different with the beans or potatoes. Maybe a fruit salad?
I still want some of the traditional foods, but does anyone have any idea ...
What's For Dinner?Oct 09, 2011Today we're having Italian stuffed peppers in the crockpot and potatoes. Not sure yet if I want baked, mashed or fried potatoes. I made pumpkin cookies earlier and am getting ready to frost them. I love the smell of cooked peppers!

Seriously, Will This Turkey Ever Be Thawed??Nov 24, 20092 days in the fridge, it's still a brick -- a 22-pound brick. now it's soaking in the sink, but the packaging says "don't thaw in water in the sink". is that cuz it's butter-basted, or just cuz it's against the turkey-thawing rules? looks like turkey-sicles on thursday --- help! ...
Anybody Every Spatchcocked A Turkey Before?Jan 19, 2017I have about a 12 pound turkey in my freezer. My hubbie gets a turkey at thanksgiving and ham at Christmas from his work. I didn't cook the turkey because we went to family for Thanksgiving. I was looking at the turkey in the freezer this morning and was wondering about spatchcocking it. I've never tried this, but I saw this on the cooking channel before and I think my turkey is the right size to do it.
Anyone have any luck with it? I'm thinki ...
Washing A TurkeyNov 20, 2014We got going on a discussion below about Thanksgiving disasters, and the conversation got to washing turkeys before cooking them.
This is not a good practice. You can spread more salmonella and other bacteria washing raw poultry. All it does is splatter rawness in the sink, on the faucets, on the counters, on your clothes, etc. Cooking to the proper temperature (165 degrees at the fattest part of the breast) kills anything you are concerned about. ...

Whats For Dinner?Apr 24, 2010With a big skillet of Spanish rice in progress, I'm gettin' a Texas-size hankering for some beefy, cheesey stuffed bell peppers. It never has made much sense to me to put rice over rice, so I don't want to use rice in the stuffing mix.
Does anyone know if cheese by itself can serve as the only recipe binder? I'm not crazy about the texture eggs produce either and do not plan to use bread crumbs. I like the middle of the peppers to be on the ...
Looking For Dinner Idea - Here's What I've GotAug 24, 2013I'm looking to make something for dinner and at a loss for ideas. I've got a zuccini from my garden and a little bit of brocoli left. We were sauting the zuccini and brocoli in olive oil, garlic and basal (yum).
Other stuff around my house is I've got rice, a couple potatoes. Got cans of various kinds of beans (cannoli, white, kidney, pinto, garbanzos, and black) and I've got cans of tomatoes. I've also got some tortillas (flour and corn).

Teens Who Only Like Turkey, No Veggies/smNov 19, 2012I have been preparing for weeks for Thanksgiving. Have 4 teenaged grandkids who will only try the turkey. They usually only like mac and cheese or pizza. Should I include a homemade version of mac and cheese with my meal? There is no way I will go with the packaged stuff they usually eat. It's either that or to see them with a little turkey only on their plates. Hopefully they will change over the years. My menu includes turkey, stuffing and all the veggies one could imagine for the grownup ...

Turkey Experts - Do You Prefer HEN Or TOM TurkeysNov 22, 2010This is a really dumb question, but since we had always gone to my sister’s house for Thanksgiving (she cooked the turkey and we brought all the rest of the stuff), I personally have not made a turkey in something like 15 years. But it was getting harder and harder to get everyone in one place, with all the kids being adults with their own families, in-laws to visit, etc. Then we do the whole thing again at Christmas.
So this year, instead of having the whole family at o ...
Unique Turkey/Stuffing LeftoverNov 13, 2012Okay, so I'm posting ahead of time, but I just saw something interesting on the show "The Chew," the food talk show with Mario Batali, Michael Symon, Daphne (Dr. Oz's daughter) and Carla.
They took leftover stuffing and turkey, stuffed it in red peppers and baked it, then threw gruyere cheese on top and broiled it till cheese was melted. They cut the bottoms off the peppers just enough so there was no hole, but the pepper could stand up in a baking dish.
I thought that sou ...
Question Regarding Thawed Turkey BreastFeb 10, 2014Today I thawed a turkey breast (thawed it in cold water in the fridge). Planned to make dinner tonight with it. Should Your Turkey Be Taxed For Climate Change? Nov 25, 2015As Americans prepare for their Thanksgiving Day feasts, there's an issue on the horizon that could make that turkey more expensive: taxing meat to reduce climate change.
Livestock is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, adding about the same amount of emissions as that of all the world's vehicles, according to a new report from the U.K. policy institute Chatham House. But many consumers aren't aware of the link between their dinner plates and climate change, the re ...

How Thanksgiving Dinner Differs From North To South...Nov 10, 2009I live in the south. How does Thanksgiving dinner differ from the northern states to the sourthern ones? From east to west?
Here in the south we have the usual turkey like everyone does. We have the cornbread dressing (stuffing), chicken and dumplings, veggies, no steamed ones though, we don't eat much steamed veggies around here. They are boiled with meat seasoning such as bacon or ham, etc. We have the broccoli casserole. We also have baked ham.& ...
Last Night's White House Correspondents DinnerApr 26, 2015I don't think there were any distractions, like killing bin Laden, for last night. I think President Obama felt completely FREE to tell it like it is. No reelection to worry about, nothing. He has his pens and he will do what he can in his next 19 months. Should be an interesting and hopefully, productive ride.

Any Tips On Using Cold Water To Defrost A 17-pound Turkey?Nov 17, 2011I usually buy fresh birds, but opted for the more budget-friendly 39-cents-per-pound rock-solid frozen version this time This turkey will be cooked before Sunday (hving an erly get-together), so I don't quite have enough time to defrost it in the fridge. The instructions suggest submersion in "cool" water in the sink for 30 minutes per pound, with frequent water changes. It has air-tight vacuum sealed packaging.
