Coffee time, Shipwrecked!

Posted: Sep 16, 2011

Got my Mukka and my Kimbo Italian imported coffee and...

WOW.

My husband helped me figure out to set up the pot and it's just beyond amazing.  The espresso is excellent.  No diss to Starbucks, but THIS is espresso.  It seriously takes 4 minutes with the 2-cup model I purchased to have the perfect cappy right in front of you.  I'm still in awe at how the espresso brews from the bottom up through the fillter into the milk, heating it all to a perfect temperature.  You push down the little pressure valve on the top and when it's reached the ideal temperature and ultimate foam, it makes a "puff" kind of like a tea kettle and emits a sharp little whistle-type sound.  At that point, you just pull it off the burner long enough to put your sugar flavored syrup or whatever your "poison" is into your cup and pour.  You can also use a spoon to scrape out any leftover foam.  The REALLY cool part is, the foam stays put the entire time you're drinking the coffee and doesn't dissipate into the coffee like the Starbucks cappys do.  My hubby fresh ground some cinnamon for me to sprinkle on top and tomorrow he's going to pick up a set of those mini (4 oz) Tornani flavored syrups for me, as well as Godiva chocolate bar to have fresh-grated chocolate on top of the foam, too.

I'm shamelessly addicted to this machine after only 2 days.  Now I'm going to pick up a blender this weekend so I can turn the "cappy" into "frappy" and have the best of both worlds.  And, if you need any help, You Tube has a bunch of Mukka insructional videos that guide you step by step from assembling to putting in the contents to pouring.  And clean-up is a breeze.

I'm anxious to hear what you think of yours or if you've gotten it yet...Let me know your take on it.  I think I'll be using mine for a VERY long time, LOL!

Is this a different machine - I thought you already had the Bialeti.

I'm still stalking the mailman. Yesterday my Kimbro was delivered, but I haven't even received shipping confirmation from Amazon on the machine, which is unusual. It was supposed to be 2-day shipping Maybe I missed it, or it's coming from someplace that doesn't send shipping notice. Maybe today....

It's suddenly gotten really cold here - perfect cappy weather, but I wait.

I ordered the Bialetti the day before I ordered the Kimbo espresso and they arrived on the same day about an hour apart.

Has yours arrived yet or are you still stalking the mailman? My Kimbo came via FedEx and about an hour the Bialetti Mukka arrived via UPS (we live in a gated complex with a security code so it's always a flip of the coin whether either or both delivery carriers will actually deliver).

So far both Kimbo have been excellent. I'm a SERIOUS coffee drinker and have already gone through the Black Neopolitan (?) brick and have started the white Export Espresso brick, and they were equally good. I think the black brick might have been a little stronger but both excellent.

If you haven't received yours yet, be prepared for what they call the "characteristic puff." It actually whistles similar to a tea kettle but louder and more shrill for a second or two, then a few seconds after that you'll hear the top pop up when the milk is done frothing.

Mine's going off right now, LOL!

Sounds really great, what model do you have? - sm - Zorro

I am currently working 2 jobs and not sleeping much and need something easy to use. I like cappacino a lot and have been wanting to get a good maker for a while, right now use a Hamilton Beach unit for coffee but it is not the same. I have looked at these before though and my birthday is coming up, so I may indulge, just don't know which one to get is all.

I got the Bialleti - shipwrected

I got the stovetop Bialleti cappuccino/latte maker that AnaPhylaxis mentioned in an earlier thread that I think started out as "I'm so excited" (although she's now talking about a Mukka). I ordered it from Amazon for $35, no tax, free shipping, and still waiting for delivery.

I did some googling and found that you can get electric cappu makers for the same price (WalMart has a couple).

It's the same thing, Shipwrecked - Mukka Express is made by Bialetti - AnaPhylaxis

Bialetti makes all those cute little espresso makers but I believe all of their cappuccino makers are called "Mukka Express." The box mine came in said Bialetti at the top and towards the bottom "Mukka Express."

It's all done on the stove, no fancy bells or whistles, just authentic cappuccino using espresso and milk. Easy to figure out, easy to assemble, easy to use...and DELICIOSO, LOL!

Maybe tomorrow!! NM - shipwrecked

Coffee - Help, AnaPSep 19, 2011
Got it - sipping my first cuppa cappy.  Works great, great foam, squirt of chocolate syrup, but nowhere can I find the amount of grounds to use (filling water to second line).  My first cup was ungodly weak so I tossed it.  This is better but still weaker than I liike.  How much grounds should I use?    ...

Coffee Craving!Dec 02, 2009
This is the halfway point in my workday.  I usually head to a local coffee shop for my fix.  My favorite this season is the pumpkin spice.  So delish!  I also like the creme brulee, but it's so sweet.  I hope there's something new on the menu today!  I'm going to get a muffin too. I'm having a fairly productive day and I'm going to toast to my co-workers in MT-land and wish you to have a good afternoon also!  Salute! ...

Brown Teeth From CoffeeMar 19, 2012
I saw how may coffee lovers we have on this board below, and I am certainly one of them, but I just can't stand how brown my teeth turn when I drink it. Any tips to keep this from happening? I brush twice a day, and I even gave up tea and coffee for a couple of months and my teeth turned back to white. I want to go for some interviews outside the house and don't want to be afraid of my smile. Dental treatments seem kind of pricey, but may go that route or else have to give up coffe ...

Keurig Coffee MakerJun 13, 2010
Had company a few weeks ago and they bought a Keurig coffee maker for us along with a variety of coffe "pods". So far, I have not found a coffee we like as much as Folger's 100% Columbian medium dark roast. All the ones we tried seem either too strong too acidic. Looking for suggestions on which coffee to try.  Not sure I would have purchased one of these "gadgets" as it is pricey and the "pods" are pricey, but it is nice for that first cup in the a.m. and even a late afternoon ...

Happy Coffee LoverNov 24, 2012
I finally found the perfect coffee maker!  Since there's only me, and I only drink one large mug of coffee day, there's no point in making a whole pot of coffee.  I've never liked the single-cup makers with the proprietary pods, since you never really know how fresh the coffee is, besides being expensive.   Then I found the perfect maker - a Hamilton Beach Scoop.  It lets you use your own coffee, and requires no filters.  It lets you choose between&nb ...

Thought I'd share -- I finally found a way to get a fresh cup of coffee in under 2 minutes (fingers not typing=no money)...  I found a great website that delivers single serve coffee makers & machines.  The machine brews in about 45 seconds, so I'm back at it faster.  What's even better, my 10-year-old can now make me a cup because it's so easy to use.  My 6 a.m. shift is a little easier now :) www.coffeemarvel.com   ...

Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee CakeApr 01, 2012
I just made the most scrumptious blueberry sour cream coffee cake. It was so moist and sweet, but not too sweet. DH told me it tasted like something we used to get in Germany. So I wanted to pass on the recipe if anyone is interested. I can't wait til later to have another piece. The recipe said to use a mixer, but I creamed the butter and sugar with a fork (my mixer is packed away), then I used a wire whisk to mix the rest. I also used a bundt pan, but am sure it could be made in ano ...
