How much coffee do you drink a day?

Posted: Jan 23, 2014

Just curious to know how much coffee you are all drinking per day.  I have an espresso machine and I make 2 large lattes a day, both with about 4 shots of espresso each.  I will also have one cup of regular coffee in the late afternoon just to get my through my mind numbing job.  I'm wondering if I'm drinking too much?!!?

;

NONE! since i started on thyroid medicine it makes me - nuts. I cant drink any caffiene

I wish I could drink lattes! I miss coffee. Even decaf has a little and I can't tolerate any.

Half a cup. But I have anxiety. - nm

Espresso has less caffeine than coffee so you may be okay. Hard to say if it is too much. I have tried giving up caffeine but it usually does not work out for me. If I do not drink coffee, then I am hungry, hungry, hungry! I normally have 1 cup of hot tea in the afternoon/evening but generally do not drink soda.

OMG no! My body is so pure, I wouldn't dare! - J/k - I drink 5+ cups of the stuff.

I have a cup brewed and available to drink at any given waking minute. Although it always goes cold while I am typing away at my MT work! Not sure why I bother, esp since I am now completely immune to caffeine, but I have to have it!

One mug in early a.m. - see msg

I have insomnia, so I don't allow myself more than 1 mug of coffee per day, and I have it only in the early morning. I sometimes make an iced coffee later on when I get tired, but always before noon.

I actually found that a large ice water (I'm talking a quart size, including ice) perks me up as much as a cup of coffee, but without the jitters and/or insomnia. No crash, either.

I would say if you are getting jittery and/or are having insomnia, coffee should be limited to one cup in the a.m.

Coffee can be addictive in that you crash after a bit, then have the need for more coffee. If you really drink a lot of coffee, you can get bad headaches if you don't get your "fix."

In the colder months, I drink more coffee and less cold drinks. And are you asking about caffeine in general or coffee specifically? I average probably 3 cups of coffee & one Coke Zero a day, less coffee and instead iced tea during summer months. But, coffee is usually either decaff or 1/2 and 1/2. I can't drink lattes - tried one once and was awake all night with a racing heart rate. Haven't had one since. :)

Two cups of French coffee with breakfast (large cups, I'm greedy!) and sometimes at dinner a small dish of Coffee Blast ice cream from Trader Joe's. It's to die for. In the hot summers I drink Starbucks iced coffee.

1 full pot between - 8 am - midnight'ish

Two cups (half the pot) in the morning and two cups (the other half of pot) in the evening after my 2-3 hour nap before I start my second job.

I finish the pot between 11 pm and midnight and usually go to bed between 3-4 am. Fall asleep promptly, sleep deep and hard, and roll out at 8 am to do it all over again.

2, 3 or sometimes 4 cups of a medium to dark roast. Sometimes in the afternoons I might have another cup or 2 and in the evening I might have a cup or two, depending on how tired I am or if I have work to do.

Coffee is good for you.

I drink 2-3 big cups in the morning. My kids got me a Keurig for Christmas, so sometimes I have an extra cup in the afternoon if I'm dragging.

Coffee Craving!Dec 02, 2009
This is the halfway point in my workday.  I usually head to a local coffee shop for my fix.  My favorite this season is the pumpkin spice.  So delish!  I also like the creme brulee, but it's so sweet.  I hope there's something new on the menu today!  I'm going to get a muffin too. I'm having a fairly productive day and I'm going to toast to my co-workers in MT-land and wish you to have a good afternoon also!  Salute! ...

Coffee Time, Shipwrecked!Sep 16, 2011
Got my Mukka and my Kimbo Italian imported coffee and... WOW. My husband helped me figure out to set up the pot and it's just beyond amazing.  The espresso is excellent.  No diss to Starbucks, but THIS is espresso.  It seriously takes 4 minutes with the 2-cup model I purchased to have the perfect cappy right in front of you.  I'm still in awe at how the espresso brews from the bottom up through the fillter into the milk, heating it all to a perfect temperature.&nb ...

Brown Teeth From CoffeeMar 19, 2012
I saw how may coffee lovers we have on this board below, and I am certainly one of them, but I just can't stand how brown my teeth turn when I drink it. Any tips to keep this from happening? I brush twice a day, and I even gave up tea and coffee for a couple of months and my teeth turned back to white. I want to go for some interviews outside the house and don't want to be afraid of my smile. Dental treatments seem kind of pricey, but may go that route or else have to give up coffe ...

Keurig Coffee MakerJun 13, 2010
Had company a few weeks ago and they bought a Keurig coffee maker for us along with a variety of coffe "pods". So far, I have not found a coffee we like as much as Folger's 100% Columbian medium dark roast. All the ones we tried seem either too strong too acidic. Looking for suggestions on which coffee to try.  Not sure I would have purchased one of these "gadgets" as it is pricey and the "pods" are pricey, but it is nice for that first cup in the a.m. and even a late afternoon ...

Happy Coffee LoverNov 24, 2012
I finally found the perfect coffee maker!  Since there's only me, and I only drink one large mug of coffee day, there's no point in making a whole pot of coffee.  I've never liked the single-cup makers with the proprietary pods, since you never really know how fresh the coffee is, besides being expensive.   Then I found the perfect maker - a Hamilton Beach Scoop.  It lets you use your own coffee, and requires no filters.  It lets you choose between&nb ...

Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee CakeApr 01, 2012
I just made the most scrumptious blueberry sour cream coffee cake. It was so moist and sweet, but not too sweet. DH told me it tasted like something we used to get in Germany. So I wanted to pass on the recipe if anyone is interested. I can't wait til later to have another piece. The recipe said to use a mixer, but I creamed the butter and sugar with a fork (my mixer is packed away), then I used a wire whisk to mix the rest. I also used a bundt pan, but am sure it could be made in ano ...
