Most Annoying Mispronounced Word

The word REALTOR is often mispronounced as REAL-A-TOR. REAL-TOR is correct. Drives me kablonkers when people say realator.;

[ In Reply To ..]I moved from the north to the south (Maine to Oklahoma, to be exact) and I noticed that in OK (maybe elsewhere)they mispronounce the word mischievous. They tend to say "mis-chiev-Ious" which is incorrect. There is no ious at the end, it's just ous. I've heard the most intelligent of people say it wrong.

I'm sure the offenders think they are being terribly sophisticated because they think they're showing that they know that the final sibilant in French words often is not pronounced. However, "grace" has an "e" on the end, thereby forcing pronunciation of the sibilant "c". To be pronounced GRA, it would have to be spelled "gra" or "gras," which is another word altogether.
