I made some practical suggestions in regard to trying to save money such as switching fro Verizon to a more affordable cell phone plan, registering with a temp agency, checking the library to see if she could get something part-time teaching literacy, reading to children or doing clerical jobs. Even volunteer work would help fill her days and get her off the streets for a while. I know there are free misplaced worker programs to learn new job skills, I find it difficult to believe that there is no work anywhere. She quit a house cleaning job because she didn’t get along with her coworkers and was offered a live in maid job that she turned down. Taking early retirement at 62 is a good plan, I guess, but the longer a person waits, the better the benefit. and it is possible to work for supplemental income. It’s too bad that social services are not able to help her, but I’m sure that at the very least she could utilize the food banks, there might be section 8 housing vouchers available too. From my point of view these things seem doable but I can’t really know because I’m not there. Wendy basically told me to jump in the lake so it is what it is. There’s a new You Tube video on Go Fund Me that you might like to see. I was an MT until I got laid off at 58 but well entrenched with my employer after 18 years and received help with internal job placement. I count my blessings that I never had to work for a service, that was my saving grace. It’s scary that anyone of us could land in the same situation. Anyway, thanks for caring.
