Seeking support by unloading and venting on an anonymous board can make one feel better. I think you already know the decision you need to make but are lacking the confidence to do so based on your comment that you "need help making this decision." You can not help this individual and his circumstance and habits you have explained here. You can help yourself though. As one person said, you are going to have trouble developing friendships and support while in this toxic environment. I would suggest that you get professional help to do this. Considering the alcoholic behavior you have described, your safety may be a big concern so consider that when you make your plan. Get support from a therapist, counselor, clergy, whatever you feel comfortable with. You need to realize this is not something you are doing to him, but you are doing it FOR YOU. You need to handle this with a sense of confidence, strength and determination, and support on this board will only go so far. Make yourself a promise to take care of you and lift this weight of the world off your shoulders. Believe that you deserve better and keep your distance from this individual. Get the support that you need. It is only temporary but will make all the difference in the world for you. I will be worried about you, so come back and let us know your progress. God bless you.
