So which is the "party of diversity"

Posted: Oct 14, 2015

Bunch of old white people up on that stage compared to the Republican debates - and the one waiting in the wings, Biden, makes another one.

;

Listening to them debate, you would think a Republican was - president for the last 7 years, not Obama.

Open wide borders, higher taxes, higher prices on oil, free college, free healthcare for illegals, expanded welfare state for illegals, etc.

Excellent points ladies!! - nimvin

You know, it never occurred to me, but you are absolutely correct. The Dems do seem to be the party of "old white people" now. LOL!! And yes, I was AMAZED that they want to give away everything FREE, FREE, FREE!!! Who the hell is going to pay for all this stuff?? The wealthy?? Where are all these "wealthy" people anyway?? Oops!! Forgot....they are all living overseas now - LMAO!!! OMG, the Dems are just pounding the same old "redistribute the wealth" drum constantly. Why can't they come up with anything NEW for a change??

We are all going to pay for it. That's the dirty little secret. Our taxes are - withheld but you never really get the "bill&q

[ In Reply To ..]
for what they spend it on. Your share of Obama's vacations, your share of govt workers' salaries and benefits, your share of military aircraft, your share of whatever the govt spends money on.

So just say tax the rich and you can give away anything. The power to tax is the power to destroy.
So are you saying you support tax evasion by the rich? - nm

I'll have to ask the Kennedy's about that one. What is your idea of - rich?
[ In Reply To ..]

Al Sharpton might be able to answer that question - for you.

NO, let the rich pay their share.... - nimvin
[ In Reply To ..]
But they already ARE paying it!! 1% of the population is paying roughly 30% to 40% of the taxes right now. How much more do you think their share is?? Mathematical fact: If you take 80% of the income of the top 1% earners in the U.S., you STILL couldn't support all the entitlements and/or pay down the national debt. Soooo...... who has to come up with the rest of the dough?? Those of us who AREN'T rich, that's who.
Yes, and that means the middle class will pay. - Millions of productive middle class
[ In Reply To ..]
Americans will be utterly destroyed. Their hard earned money will be taken from them and given away for votes.
That is inaccurate, the wealthy do NOT pay - the same % of income as you and I do
[ In Reply To ..]
As Mitt Romney admitted, he only pays 16% of his income, if that.

Why is that okay with all the rah rah rich people lovers? Why is it okay for us to pay more income tax as a percentage?

Yeah, they pay a lot of taxes BECAUSE they make a lot of money! Even if they ever did get a flat tax, which many Repubs love, even that would be more equal than what we have now. Of course, they would probably find loopholes to enable them to pay less even then. We can't, can we? Who has the time to figure it out or money to pay lobbyists or even accountants for that matter?

Why on earth would you want to take the top 80% of income of anyone? Nobody wants to do that. We just want them to pay the same percentage of income tax that we do. We also want the corporations to stop dodging tax and we want the tax loopholes closed that allow overseas tax havens and the estate tax.

From David Cay Johnston:

"In fact, the wealthy are paying less taxes.

The Internal Revenue Service issues an annual report on the 400 highest income-tax payers. In 1961, there were 398 taxpayers who made $1 million or more, so I compared their income tax burdens from that year to 2007.

Despite skyrocketing incomes, the federal tax burden on the richest 400 has been slashed, thanks to a variety of loopholes, allowable deductions and other tools. The actual share of their income paid in taxes, according to the IRS, is 16.6 percent. Adding payroll taxes barely nudges that number.

Compare that to the vast majority of Americans, whose share of their income going to federal taxes increased from 13.1 percent in 1961 to 22.5 percent in 2007."
The more governments control the wealth, the more - wealth concentrates in the government

at the top. People still haven’t figured out the connection.

with both parties. There's no question about that.

I'm talking about the rest of us creating wealth through work, investing, making choices, etc.
The way things stand now, you don't - stand a chance. nm

Diverse in their outer appearance maybe, but - pretty much same policies

There is very little difference in Republican candidates about anything. They ALL think climate change is a hoax, they ALL want to raise the retirement age, cut Social Security, Medicare, and defund Planned Parenthood.

Can you imagine the same people who voted for Barack Obama voting for Ben Carson? I think not, no matter what color he was.

Just like I would never vote for Carly Fiorina just cuz she's kind of a woman, despite the fact I think we need a woman president.

She represents nothing appealing to me, just like Ben Carson represents nothing appealing to most minorities.

So how on earth is the Republican party the party of diversity? It's all superficial.

It really is the party of every candidate with the same lousy policies IMHO.

Obama & New PartyJun 07, 2012
On the evening of January 11, 1996, while Mitt Romney was in the final years of his run as the head of Bain Capital, Barack Obama formally joined the New Party, which was deeply hostile to the mainstream of the Democratic party and even to American capitalism. In 2008, candidate Obama deceived the American public about his potentially damaging tie to this third party. The issue remains as fresh as today’s headlines, as Romney argues that Obama is trying to move the United States tow ...

I found this opinion piece interesting. "While it’s important that the Obama Administration answer questions about their involvement and knowledge of this targeting, it’s also ...

Where Is The Tea Party? Medicaid In JeopardyApr 29, 2011
Two years ago during the healthcare  debate, the Tea Party was passionate in their insistence that government should keep their hands off Medicaid (never mind the fact that Medicaid is government run, socialized healthcare).  Now that the Ryan plan has proposed phasing out Medicaid as we now know it for those who are 54 years old and younger, where is the Tea Party? I would think they would feel betrayed by the Republicans who ran in 2010 and promised to "protect" Medicaid. ...
