IRS, Tea Party, and minorities
Posted: May 15, 2013
I found this opinion piece interesting. Here are a couple excerpts:
"The perception that the IRS targeted conservative groups is certainly cause for concern, but liberal folks like Jon Stewart and Chris Matthews should stop hyperventilating on the perception of political targeting and look more closely on what this extra scrutiny actually looked like."
"While it’s important that the Obama Administration answer questions about their involvement and knowledge of this targeting, it’s also important for the mainstream media to maintain some historical perspective. Having to put up with some phone calls and questionnaires isn’t exactly J. Edgar Hoover’s FBI or Richard Nixon, and it appears that none of these groups were denied their tax-exempt status."

If the President is as concerned about this issue as he claims, he’ll work openly and transparently with Congress to get to the bottom of the scandal—no stonewalling, no half-answers, no withholding of witnesses," the top Republican senator, Kentucky's Mitch McConnell, said in a statement.

until they could get a permanent replacement.
This IRS scandal started in 2009-2010, so Miller really had NO PART at all in this.
This administration should know better than to state that he was fired or resigned (as some are stating) when, in fact, his time was up and he's going to be there until his replacement takes over, whenever that may be.
Yes, and he replaced Bush appointee Douglas Schulman. - sm

Obama should have gotten rid of Schulman when he first became President.
Maybe Miller was figuring it's business as usual, only flipped now, and focusing on tea party and republicans.
In my opinion, I personally believe that the Koch brothers SHOULD have been targeted for their "social welfare" organization, given the enormous amount of money they have spent on republican candidates.
if I say leg tingle, will the right read this post? - lol

Nixing Saturday Mail Delivery Will Hurt Minorities And Single MothersFeb 09, 2013After the United States Postal Service announced that it intends to stop delivering mail on Saturdays in an effort to cut costs beginning this August, many praised it as a relatively straightforward way to save roughly $2 billion a year.
Some lamented the inconvenience of the change and others were alarmed at what that means for post office employees. Not many, though, tied the matter to race or gender.
Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) was apparently one of them.
He explained on MSNBC:

The Tea Party (disgusting And Full Of Vitrole And Hatred) Are Not The Republican Party HopefullyApr 17, 2011I hope with everything I have in me that the Tea Party does not represent the Republican Party.
This is what the Tea Party stands for. They are full of vitriole and hatred. This is not what the Republican party stands for. See comments by Republican Party of Orange County Chairman Scott Baugh, "It's just highly inappropriate, it's a despicable message, it drips with racism and I think she should step down from the committee," said Baugh.

Birthday PartyDec 11, 2009My son, who is turning 14 on Sunday, invited 12 of his friends from school over tonight for a sleepover pizza/birthday party. I figured that out of the 12 he invited, at least a few wouldn't be able to make it. The last few years he has only invited 6 or 7.
Can you believe that all 12 showed up! The noise level is ridiculous, but everybody is having a lot of fun.

I went to one of those tea-party tax protests last week and found it didn't fit the crudest media stereotypes. They were friendly, not a bunch of whack jobs in training for the militia, as they are sometimes portrayed.

Obama & New PartyJun 07, 2012On the evening of January 11, 1996, while Mitt Romney was in the final years of his run as the head of Bain Capital, Barack Obama formally joined the New Party, which was deeply hostile to the mainstream of the Democratic party and even to American capitalism. In 2008, candidate Obama deceived the American public about his potentially damaging tie to this third party. The issue remains as fresh as today’s headlines, as Romney argues that Obama is trying to move the United States tow ...
