Tuesday night, the White House throws open its doors for a celebrity packed concert celebrating Memphis soul music. Justin Timberlake, Al Green, Queen Latifah, Cyndi Lauper, Sam Moore, Charlie Musselwhite, and others will be performing at the exclusive event. Maybe they can get a tour of the White House while they are there, because it remains closed to the public.
In reaction to the automatic sequester cuts, Barack Obama shuttered the public, self-guided tours of the White House. The closure was allegedly necessary to trim $2 million from the Social Security budget.
Tuesday's concert is part of "In Performance at the White House" series. It is an official function, so its costs are borne entirely by the taxpayers. Those unable to get a ticket can watch the festivities on PBS next week. The White House has not released the guest list for tonight's party.
So, we have 3 vacays in 3 months (and separate at that) and still the Tuesday parties go on while the public is denied access to "our" house, and cuts our defense. Keep spending Obama. I think you're on point to be #1 of all the presidents who spent the most taxpayer $$ on personal items while not leading our nation in the 200 years of this country. Ya know, being president does not mean party hearty. It means responsibility but you don't seem to be showing anything except contempt for our country.

[ In Reply To ..]outrage at the whole vacation scandal. After the last guy, the bar's set low. But I personally can't relate to these fancy parties and feasts. I do think the president should lead by example and I'm not a big fan of the extravagance, especially in a time when so many are suffering.
The problem is that my outrage already peaked out at maximum long ago due to our private sector rich people and their vast waste of our money and resources for which they have shown no sense of shame, remorse or even recognition that what they do hurts others.
Still, I would prefer it if Obama toned it down. I understand that a big part of being a politician is entertaining friends, potential friends and even your enemies, and that is habit forming. Not that he's costing the public 1/1,000,000,000,000th what Wall Street or war does, but still. It's like the new Pope foregoing all the pomp and finery of his predecessors. I wish Obama would at least try to share a bit of the burden, but he's wealthy. They know no other way.

He's our PRESIDENT. He should be taking care of business instead of partying and taking vacations every month. He doesn't seem to be worried about anything except where his next golf date is going to be held, who he's inviting to his next party, where he is going on his next vacation, and where will Michelle be going on her next vacation.
Bush may have taken a lot of vacations while President but he spent them at Camp David, his ranch in TX, or in Kennebunk, ME at his parent's place. There were no extravagant vacations in other countries and they didn't cost the taxpayers an arm and a leg because they took separate vacations to different parts of the country or world.
The left attacked Bush for his vacations but keep quiet about Obama's vacations. Is that okay? I think not. What's fair is fair and heaven knows, the media is very one-sided. Did they chastise Obama for the above? No. Did they chastise Obama for NEVER submitting a budget in 4 years and this year finally submitted, or will submit, a budget in another week which, BTW, is 2 MONTHS LATE.
Okay, sorry to get carried away. I could go on and on but that's my vent for today. ;-) Have a nice day.
