It never planned to not show the movie. Just a hoax to try and get more people to see it, which I heard got pretty bad reviews. Not surprising with those two goofballs in it.

I guess now they feel Christmas is a good time to pull a hoax on everyone.

How I feel about "The Interview": - Skeptic

First off, I felt that having the assassination-target in the movie be a real, live leader of an existing country, no matter how evil that country may be, was IDIOTIC, and was just inviting trouble.

I felt that to be the case even more, when supposedly North Korea hacked Sony's website, and suddenly all the movie theaters were "scared to show it." I thought, "How dare that little twerp in Korea try to censor American free speech?" yet he never actually comes out and admits that he was responsible for Sony's hacking.

Then the Korean internet is (supposedly) shut down, either by the U.S. or by some other hacker. However, no one takes credit for it.

Then, all of a sudden the theaters are encouraged to run the movie anyway, in the name of "free speech." There is lots of ensuing flag-waving and "USA! USA!" rah-rah-ness, and then SURPRISE! The movie (which sounded inane to me from day one), is a big Christmas Day hit, the theaters are full, the movie-rentals are rampant, and America is the Home-of-the-Brave once more.

Score a big one for Corporate America and Big Business. Once more, they conned all of us sheeple into believing their ad campaign and parting with our dollars.

Next time, I hope we're not so easily fooled.

Sony lost big bucks. Yesterday's sales were a little over $1 million, all from small theaters, corporate theaters were non players.

What I want to know is do the hackers now have information that could be damaging to Sony? If there were some kind of conspiracy I would look in that direction.

I agree that it in bad taste to make a movie depicting the assassination of a living ruler, but freedom of speech rules supreme. I just hope there are no serious repercussions.

That's only for Christmas Day. There are still - a lot of viewing days to come.

Sorry if this post is long-winded. Every year the fleas get worse and worse. I'm trying to head it off this year before I get an infestation with the warmer weather.
