Small Business Owners Demand Repeal of Bush Tax Cuts

I've always felt this way. Glad to see more people are coming to the conclusion that those tax cuts didn't help us as small business owners. My own business started down as customers had less money, and I got the tax cuts. Something just never seemed right about that.

;

I believe President Obama's plan is much better - My opinion

Get the money to the people who need to spend it, not put it in the bank. As the guy in the article said, that tax cut money doesn't get spent to make more jobs.

The guy should speak for himself. I am - sure "all" small business

are glad for the tax cuts. Those who don't want them, or want them repealed, know what their rate used to be before the cuts. All they have to do at the end of the year is figure the percentage and write a check back to the Treasury. No law against them doing that. You can give more than your tax rate to the Treasury any time you want to.

My business started losing money after that - See message

I was in a meeting yesterday and someone said they thought things were looking a little better. I hope so. The jobs those tax cuts were supposed to create never happened. In fact, people lost jobs at a faster rate than ever and many still haven't found work. That means they can't buy the products and services that businesses sell. It wouldn't do any good to 'give back' those tax breaks. They have already done their harm.

Let's hope this year will be the year when we start on the way back up again. If it gets any worse, my family business will go under. It started going down in 2000. I know that because we had a big event and I remember asking everyone if they knew people who were losing jobs or couldn't find work. The income from our family small business was going down dramatically all of a sudden. The reason people were giving for not buying was, they or a spouse had lost jobs and they could no longer had money. After that the graph of income has steadily declined. Luckily, it started very high and had a long way to go before it hits bottom, but we can't afford for it to go lower than it is now.

I blame it all on the 'trickle-down' economy theory and the fact that Presidents Clinton and the Bushes gave away our jobs. They sent the jobs overseas. If Americans don't have jobs, they don't have money, and they can't buy goods and services. Nothing is trickling down. I hope it changes soon, for all of our sake.

You didn't have to take the cuts. You - could have given it back.

Just as these people who are demanding repeal can. There are just as many small businesses who need the tax cuts. If you don't need them, at the end of the year simply write a check to the Treasury and give it back. Win-win.

It was pretty senseless that money for my business dried up - but I got that tax cut!

In my own business, I did get that tax cut, but the problem was, my customers didn\'t. Things went badly for them, so I had fewer customers who spent less money, and I ended up losing much, much more than I ever got in that tax cut.

Sorry it did not work for you...but apparently - it did for others. nm

Your customers did get a tax cut. Everybody - did. Maybe if you had

taken your tax cut money and lowered your prices by the tax cut percentage your customers could have kept buying from you...?

People who are losing or have lost jobs don't have discretionary income - nm

The cuts were supposed to create jobs - scratching head...

I guess that didn't work very well, did it?! No, it didn't.
Yeah...like Obama's stimulus was supposed - to...I guess THAT did
[ In Reply To ..]
did not work well either, did it?? And it cost the treasury a heck of a LOT more than the tax cut did.

Geez...only see one side of the story much????

Of course - mes

That is very true. When people can't afford to buy products or services, companies have trouble making money too. Some day they'll get it, or maybe not. Nobody in our government has to worry about affording anything, so they don't really know what it is like in the real world.

What Small Car Owners Should Know About Car InsuranceApr 14, 2015
Americans are known around the world for their love of big cars. Many wouldn’t be caught dead behind the wheel of one of those little cars you’re more likely to see on the streets in Europe. But as gas prices continue to climb higher and more Americans become concerned with the environmental impact of larger, less fuel-efficient cars, small cars are starting to grow in popularity even here. What many haven’t considered is that smaller cars tend to have a lower safety rating. For example in ...

TP Gets Its Wish--Thanks To Bush's Tax Cuts.Aug 05, 2011
Quote from S&P on downgrade: Compared with previous projections, our revised base case scenario now assumes that the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, due to expire by the end of 2012,remain in place. We have changed our assumption on this because the majority of Republicans in Congress continue to resist any measure that would raise revenues, a position we believe Congress reinforced by passing the act. ...

Guess Who Blocked The Paid For Small Business Lending BillJul 29, 2010
Wanna know why?  Because extension of expiring tax breaks for the rich (estate tax on amounts greater than $1 million) were not included, so they threw a hissy.  Every time Reid offered compromises on other amendments, GOP demands changed (sound familiar?).  Now lets see here, true colors shown on this would be anti-small business, anti-tax breaks for anyone who is not rich and anti-jobs creation.  Nice job.  Oh, lest we forget.  Their objections did ...

Dems Considering Keeping Bush Tax CutsJul 22, 2010
Democrats are considering a plan to delay tax hikes on the wealthy for two years because the economic recovery is slow and they fear getting crushed in November’s election.  It could mean a big reprieve for families earning $250,000 and above annually.  President George W. Bush’s tax cuts will expire at the end of the year unless Congress acts to delay their sunset.  Some Democrats are now arguing forcefully that a delay is a win-win plan that would help the federal ...

While I won't post the whole thing here, I will post some of it, as I don't know how long it would be on this board. Oh, and by the way, 12 dems voted for it, so it wasn't just a pub deal. So, were the tax cuts so bad? Tell me these were just for rich people as so many believe. This is the problem with people nowadays. They hear one side of the story and believe and judge without finding out for themselves what is really going on in this country. Those titles that I only posted ...

Repeal Of ACA May Be Illegal?Nov 11, 2014

Why Obamacare Will Self Repeal. Two Words Summarize Why.Jan 11, 2017
The debate is over. We do not need to repeal Obamacare; it will repeal itself. Two words summarize why: risk pool. The ACA is founded upon a stunning misconception of the very definition of insurance. Its advocates have mistakenly conflated two unrelated concepts: insurance and welfare – or, more to the point, risk and charity. People buy insurance in order to mitigate risk. We buy fire insurance because there is a slight chance that our house will burn down. If we cannot afford ins ...

Peter Nelson, my colleague at Center of the American Experiment, is one of the country’s leading experts on health care policy. On the Center’s web site, he urges conservatives to take a deep breath and understand the constraints that Congressional Republicans are working under. In particular, a full repeal of Obamacare must get through the Senate, which means it must get 60 votes. There are only 52 Republican senators. Therefore, the first bill that has been unveiled is intended to be pa ...
