Woman Stomped outside of Kentucky Debate

Posted: Oct 27, 2010

What sickens me are the conservative blogs and boards defending this action - what animals.

The liberals who come on and say that conservatives defend this type of behavior, when there is no truth to that.  No conservative defend violence.  This is another example of spin.  Who told you to say that conservatives defend this?  Mathews, Olberman, or that other hate spewer Ed Schultz.

If any crime has been committed then that person should pay for his crime.  That\'s what republicans have always been for.  Conservatives do not praise violence unlike some of the liberals that praise violence as long as its against conservatives.

That statement is about as bad as calling tea party members violent and racist.  Just not true.

I guess this explains why CNN did that - sm

I forgot to elaborate on my other message. Let's break down this article more.

First and foremost, nobody is defending violence. If anyone commits an act of violence they should be punished according to the law.

Now...lets look at the article a little more carefully:

Lauren Valle, the woman injured, is an employee with the liberal group MoveOn.org. She goes to this event wearing a disguise. She claims she was there to give Rand Paul an "Employee of the Month" Award. huh? what would he be getting an award for? (Somethings not right). Then we find out the purpose was for her to get a picture to be used to embarrass Rand Paul in commercials. She also was wearing a "I'm a Rand Fan", which obviously she was not.

Rand Paul's campaign CLEARLY stated -

"Violence of any kind has no place in our civil discourse, and we urge supporters on all sides to be civil to one another as tensions rise heading toward this very important election," a campaign statement said.

So, nobody is defending the actions of the people who hurt this woman. I hope whoever did the wrong doing gets whatever punishment they deserve, and I hope that groups will not do anything in the future just so they can try to embarrass the opposing candidate. But then again the race is getting closer so am sure it will get even worse.

It sounds like the injured woman is recovering and that is good news.

It wasn't an "event." It was debate between the candidates. - sm

She has a right to do any kind of goofy protest that she likes--without fear of assault.

I saw an interview with her. She seems like a perfectly rational lefty liberal who was exercising her first amendment rights.

Then why was she wearing a disguise? - Backwards Typist

She had a wig on which was pulled off when by someone when they started to put her on the ground. I caught that on the news last night when I watched it. I wondered about that. She was not a "perfectly rational lefty liberal who was exericsing her first amendment rights."

I think she was just out for her 15 minutes of fame and to cause a ruckus....and why didn't the police officer in the background do anything while it was happening?

Yep, she was instigating trouble, and she got it.nm - Frank

Event - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Event:

1. Something that takes place; an occurrence.
2. A significant occurrence or happening. See synonyms at occurrence.
3. A social gathering or activity.

Hence, a debate takes place. It is an occurrence. Therefore it is an "event".

Yes, she can do any goofy thing she wants. She can be sneaky and in a disguise and try to get some pictures to destroy a man's career. Those are her rights as a citizen. At the same time she should have known ahead of time that since she was going there for the purpose of looking for trouble and to try and destroy a man's career with pictures, any one in a thousand outcomes could have happened.

I didn't see her interviewed and I don't care to. I don't care what party she belongs to. All I know is she did not deserve what she got. However, I also don't know the whole story and I don't know how it got as far as it did. Either way it doesn't make it right. She should not have gotten hurt.

There is a lesson to be learned in all of this. If you are going to go someplace or to an event with the sole purpose of causing trouble then be prepared for the unexpected to happen.

Kind of like the kids who text while they are driving. What do they think after they get into an accident and kill people. They brought it on themselves.

I don't like to see anyone hurt. But then I don't like to see people who are out to destroy other people's careers.

New video shows her rushing his car with a sign. - She is just some nut.nm

I see this in a different light now that I have seen several videos of the incident. Second guy took things a bit too far, but did not stomp her head. This lady is a paid provocateur and no innocent bystander. If she had rushed Obama's car like this and tried to shove a sign in it, she would be dead.

Thank you for posting that - anon

Like you said kind of puts things in a new light. The perpetrator started it, and the guy in the suit tries to protect Rand Paul. She also was not stomped on the head.

Interesting how the people who start violence don\'t like it when it turns the wrong way.

Is this the same person who was in Louisiana - just wondering

other stuff....and it turns out, Lauren Valle is a liar. Shocking, isn't it?

She was arrested in LA on a felony charge. Now, doesn't that mean she shouldn't have left that state? She was also arrested in China for putting up a flag. She is a professional agitator besides being a member of MoveOn.org.

Also, the following link really got me furious:

http://www.greenpeace.org/usa/en/news-and-blogs/campaign-blog/a-few-words-in-support-of-lauren-valle-and-pr/blog/26779

And she wasn't stomped on her head, he put his foot on her shoulder. I do not condone violence but, in reality, she asked for it.

Rand Paul's Kentucky ConstituencyApr 08, 2015
I always like to hear what constituents have to say about their senators or other public officials running for higher office. Are there any MTs from Kentucky out there who have any personal knowledge or stories they can share? Is Rand Paul well liked in your state? To me, he really seems like a moderate, not too right and not too left. He may be what I'm looking for in a presidential candidate, but I'm open to hear more or follow more links. Many thanks. Heroin Epidemic In Ohio And KentuckyJun 19, 2017
Three young males died this year in their early 20s in separate incidents.  I know their families.  They came from good homes, had a lot of promise.  They each reportedly got started on pain medication and when prescriptions were not renewed went out on the street to get other drugs. The impact of dissolving the ACA will be far reaching everywhere, jobs lost.  I wish we could come together as Americans and just begin fixing the more glaring deficiencies in the program we already have.  I think a public option would be a good start.  This should have been in the original bill but politics and the insurance lobbyists got in the way.  Ultimately, single-payer like the rest of the civilized world is my preference. ...

How To Debate The DonaldAug 03, 2015
This article is amusing. I would hope there is a lot of practice going on for other Republicans on how not to let him get under their skin. If possible, they should ignore him and pretend he has not spoken at all. I particularly liked this reference-- "Other than a dart gun?," he said. "A tranquilizer gun ...
