and other "threats" are made about closing down this and that. When taxpayers are tightening their belts even further and cutting back on extras...and while Obama tells the American people "we" all have to make sacrifices, while he goes golfing in Florida and his wife goes to Aspen....Biden just cost the taxpayers $1 MILLION for a 2-night stay in Europe....yet no one on this board seems upset about that. He met with heads of state but still....half a million dollars and 136 rooms for one hotel? That's ridiculous.

When questioned about the cost, they won't answer those questions. When are the heads of our government going to make sacrifices like us lowly taxpayers?

that she's the president's daughter and that they're using taxpayer money to do all this - leaving that all out of it - what kind of parents would allow their daughter to go to Mexico for spring break? when whatever "news" of a foreign country filters through locally is only the bad stuff, it's going to give a strange view of a nation. Many people around the world believe you take your lives in your hands just walking down the streets of the United States. Then there are all those who'd no more let their children enter one of our scary-dangerous schools than they'd let them hitchhike around Juarez.

Last time we were there was for a wedding. Two of our party were a couple of cheery fun women in their 80s who decided to head into town on their own, nothing strange for these two, and we never considered they needed our help. We heard later, though, that the manager took over calling them a cab from the desk clerk, the cab driver handed them over to a shopkeeper where they got out, that person gave them to someone else, etc., throughout the day. Just being nice.

Then don't. I went with my school - and we had a lot of fun.

Has anyone considered taking a court reporting course and learning to use a stenography machine? I've been looking into jobs doing closed capationing and I'm intrigued. The money looks to be pretty good. But, I look at a steno machine and think....OMG, there is no way I can learn to use that.
