I can't believe he said that in public, admitting that they can't handle having the public watch the childish behavior of the Republican extremists. I don't like the fact that they are going back under cover again, abusing witnesses in private where nobody can see. I say bring it out into the light again and let the chips fall where they may. That's the only thing that will save the sane part of the Republican party. Otherwise the whole party is doomed to be a party of the past, and that's sad. They didn't used to be known for being crazy, and now they are. That's just what they do. I'd like to see that change. Bringing the rest of the hearings out into the light may help. I hope so. Otherwise I will never vote Republican again.

It isn't the role of Congressional inquiries to provide a platform for public entertainment, nor to provide interviewees with an opportunity to engage in endless self-serving rhetoric and non-stop false reframing of questions, as Clinton did for the entire duration of her testimony.

Nor is this the definition of "transparency" in any sense of the word. In fact this characterization represents a perfect example of false reframing - something I see a lot of in the world of politics, and on this forum.

The proper frame, in this case, is which hearing format - open or closed - is most likely to be EFFECTIVE in developing critical information. Even if you aren't a trained interrogator, as I am, you should be able to easily answer that question.

Having then come into possession of the full facts through an EFFECTIVE process, "transparency" is quite easily achieved by fully disclosing those facts to the public.

In the case of any inquiry, our interest should be and must ALWAYS be, getting to the truth rather than any political interest whatsoever, and whether we like it or not.

When the new Republican party members are required to reply with facts, they can't. When they reply with false innuendos they are easily countered with fact checkers, and Pinnochio alerts. They just can't get the message that you can have your own opinions, but you don't have the luxury of having your own facts.

Has anyone considered taking a court reporting course and learning to use a stenography machine? I've been looking into jobs doing closed capationing and I'm intrigued. The money looks to be pretty good. But, I look at a steno machine and think....OMG, there is no way I can learn to use that.
