Nancy Pelosi raised five children, 4 daughters and a son, and has 8 grandchildren.  She did not enter politics until after her kids were either through college or in college.  She participates in a number of mentoring initiatives aimed at encouraging girls and young women to aspire to leadership roles in the public, private and nonprofit services sectors as well as local, state and national political roles.  When faced with these well documented biographical facts of her life, it become clear just how mean-spirited and ill-informed attacks on her as a parent really are.  Sheesh, indeed.

She has visited troops in both Iraq and Afghanistan on Mother's Day repeatedly for more than a decade.  Which among GOP woman pols has consistently demonstrated equal interest and dedication to this cause?  Herein lies the explanation as to why it is wingers hate her so much.  They just cannot seem to STAND accomplished and powerful democratic women who set such high standards in their dedication to public service.  Hillary Clinton comes to mind.  Their mere existence serves as a constant reminder of the GOP gender deficit we see in the top eschelons of their so-called leadership.    

History rewrite alert.  You seem to have your wars mixed up when referring to 2008. President Obama's stump speeches clearly stated his intent to draw down troop presence in Iraq and to shift focus onto Afghanistan.  Link below to one of many speeches he made on the subject....a far cry from Candidate 47 who failed to even mention the troops at multiple high-profile events, DESPITE  having been called out by the media on numerous occasions in this regard.
