Which Republican governor is the worst?

Posted: Aug 26, 2014

I nominate Scott Walker from Wisconsin. Recent breaking news -- Scott Walker's administration agreed to give a $6 million tax break to a corporation that may lay off nearly 2,000 Wisconsin workers. And less than a month later, the owners of that corporation gave Walker's campaign $20,000. But then there is Bob McDonnell from Virginia, Christie from New Jersey, Perry from Texas, Palin from Alaska. Yes, I realize some of these are not current governors, but it is hard to keep up.;

Boehner not a governor, but in office - shennanigans

[ In Reply To ..]
House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-Mich.) personally profited from a corporate tax loophole that they have opposed closing, according to Bloomberg.

Boehner and Camp announced that they were selling their stock in Dublin-based Covidien shortly after the American medical technology company Medtronic agreed to acquire it. The merger would allow Medtronic to move its formal headquarters overseas to reduce its tax bill.

According to Bloomberg, Covidien’s stock price shot up after the acquisition was announced, and both Boehner and Camp sold between $15,000 and $50,000 shares of their stock in the company.

Here is a perfect example of right-wing Alinsky tactics and deflection. Interesting how there are so many yet none are listed. Perhaps if you really want to have a discussion rather than deflect, please start a new thread.

My vote goes to ex Governor of Virgina, Bob McDonnell. Conviction on multiple counts coming soon.

[ In Reply To ..]
Alinsky tactics are not communist tactics or limited to the left wing. You should educate yourself. Some in the right wing are using Alinsky tactics, particularly the TEA Party (see link). It's making some of the other right wing upset. GOP infighting, love it.

No, Saul Alinsky was not a communist. He actually did not like the thought of joining organizations. Alinsky once said: "I've never joined any organization—not even the ones I've organized myself. I prize my own independence too much. And philosophically, I could never accept any rigid dogma or ideology, whether it's Christianity or Marxism. One of the most important things in life is what Judge Learned Hand described as 'that ever-gnawing inner doubt as to whether you're right.' If you don't have that, if you think you've got an inside track to absolute truth, you become doctrinaire, humorless and intellectually constipated. The greatest crimes in history have been perpetrated by such religious and political and racial fanatics, from the persecutions of the Inquisition on down to Communist purges and Nazi genocide."

He was Jewish, you see, and didn't care for Communists and absolutely hated Nazis.

You don't actually have to know you're using an Alinsky tactic to be using one, and you were using one..... deflection too, and you still never gave a single name in answer to the OP or even an answer to your own rambling deflection, just deflected some more and added nothing whatsoever to the conversation. The GOP deflection and lack of substance is what we generally call a win-win.
Sorry for you - Alinksy was a communist - Per your own words...
[ In Reply To ..]
You should educate yourself.

Saul Alinsky was a community organizer and a communist. He wrote rules for radicals which is used all the time by liberals/communists.

"In the Orwellian upside-down world of the Left, community organizers disorganize communities. That is the meaning of revolution, to overturn whatever exists today in the raw pursuit of one’s own power."

The Alinsky tactics are reserved for the left.

I am educated, but thanks for thinking of me. - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
I will return the favor and leave you with the truth about Alinsky. Yes, Alinsky was a community organizer and a really, really good one at that. Conservative author William F. Buckley said of Alinsky that he was "very close to being an organizational genius." Well, we know he wrote the book on it, but, no, that would not make him a Communist either.

* Yes, liberals use his rules.
* Yes, socialists use his rules.
* Yes, conservatives use his rules.
-- No, that does not make any of them Communists.

To tell you the truth, the Communist Party in Alinsky's day actually attacked him for advocating American intervention in World War II. Alinsky was Jewish. They were exterminating people like him, remember?

So all these words tossed around in regards to Alinsky, these are actual political parties and nothing to actually fear. Unless you enjoy living in fear over nothing.

Why no credit for the quote in your post? That seems to be happening quite a lot on these boards lately, where we find ourselves having to hunt down others' sources that go uncredited. Quite a lot of these hunts lead straight to the site American Thinker. This quote is from James Lewis. If his writings are what you believe, why not give him credit for his quotes? I see he has quite a very large body of what most in this country would deem fear and smear propaganda.

[ In Reply To ..]
the tactics used the Obama and the Dems. I know some people don't like hearing stuff like this, but it's time for the alarm clock to go off and people to wake up. Now, if you would like, I can post more reviews and/or post his true Rules for Radicals" but I'm sure you really don't want to know Alinsky's true allegiance and rules.

Ron Braithwaite and as did quite a few others who bought the book and gave a review on Alinsky's book "Rules for Radicals" and I would take his review as all knowing since he MET Alinsky:

Rules for Radicals' is nothing less than Alinsky's 'Mein Kampf'. He even cites the advantages of imprisonment for book writing which Hitler would have certainly agreed with. I have awarded this book 4 stars because it gives important insights into the philosophical underpinnings of Barack H. Obama, not because it is a great book and certainly not because I agree with it in most important areas.

At the same time, I recognize that Alinsky had qualities that most Leftist ideologues simply don't have. He was genuinely intelligent and had a deep knowledge and appreciation for frail human nature. He recognized the strengths and weaknesses of his adherents and opponents and used them for his own advantage. Not so surprisingly he places his motivations in JudeoChristian morality but then turns around and rejects morality when manipulating means to achieve these admirable goals. Enter Barack Obama. Lies, trickery and subterfuge are justiable in promoting revolutionary goals.

Many of his words, tactics and motives were tactics...but...there was a decisive difference. Whereas Marx looked to an end game of perfect communistic bliss, Alinsky regarded this as unrealistic. He advocated a program of institutionalized revolution which would, of course, fit perfectly with his personality because he, personally, was the institutionalization of Left Revolution.

Why perpetual revolution? He never quite spells it out. As a matter of fact he glosses over it. It's fun. It's a living. If his feet were put to the fire, however, he would probably say that should we succeed in elevating a certain underprivileged class, they quickly become a privileged class and must, in their turn, be agitated and torn down to make room for those relatively less privileged than they are....and...ad infinitum. Stalin, of course, did something similar by killing the upper crust of Russian peasantry [the Kulaks] which, inevitably, caused those under them to fill their slots. Stalin then killed them off. The next group rose and were murdered...until Stalin was left with only pasive, hopeless people.

Alinsky's stated motives are to support the poor and oppressed in their struggle for a better life. At the same time, however, we are left with the niggling suspicion that Alinsky, himself, in all his acquired wisdom, manipulates the poor and oppressed for his own purposes. Alinsky might have agreed. He says that ego is an important motivator for a revolutionary as is self-interest. If it makes him [Alinsky] feel personally good to 'help' the poor and oppressed, then it satisfies his criterion of self-interest.

Alinsky is intelligent and philosophical with a broad wealth of knowledge but, at the same time, he may have been, at his heart, a violent person. An Alinsky quote: 'I have on occasion remarked that I feel confident that I could persuade a millionaire on a Friday to subsidize a revolution for Saturday out of which he would make a huge profit on Sunday even though he was certain to be executed [by the revolution he financed] on Sunday.' This, of course, although violent and reprehensible, is not a new thought. It is merely a restatement of Lenin's famous phrase: 'The capitalists will fashion the rope they hang themselves with.'

Alinsky also recommended fixing and personalizing your enemies, even if they weren't much 'enemies'. Should an enemy or adverse issue be 48% right and you think that you, or your issue, are 52% right. You must act as if the enemy were 100% wrong and you 100% right...moral relativism [which Alinsky thoroughly agreed with]. Therefore take a political figure that you are in some small disagreement with; paint her as a common harlot, unintelligent with sexual proclivities toward small children.

This is where Alinsky was coming from tactically and because it worked he wouldn't have seen it as 'wrong' or 'immoral' but a simple tactical expedient. Here you see one of the major influences that Alinsky has had on the Democrat Left, in general, and Barack Obama in particular.

As an aside, I may have met Alinsky personally. It was in Los Angeles in 1967 and I was about 22 years old at the time. A friend invited me to attend an antiwar meeting entitled, 'The Loyal Opposition.' Well I wasn't into the antiwar thing but I decided to humor my friend and went. It was a small meeting with maybe 25 people presided over by an older man [Alinsky?]. I, of course, expected an antiwar meeting with an emphasis on American principles. Man, was I wrong. It was a meeting promoting outright sedition.

After listening to the spokesman awhile preaching about the total disruption and fornication of American, I stood up and retaliated with arguments that set him right back on his heels. I asked him why he had lied by entitling his meeting the 'Loyal' opposition. It turned into a shouting match with plenty of profanity and strong language coming from him...perfectly in keeping with Alinsky. The meeting broke up in turmoil which I was entirely responsible for. Good.

OMG. I can't believe that I actually agree with part of one of your posts. Now this truly is a first. You pegged me right this time when you said: "Always quick to deny." It is totally accurate that I am "always quick to deny" a post full of fiction that is trying to be passed off as fact. I am truly no different at all than most liberals on this site. Let's take the current issue at hand here as an illustration why we steadfastly refuse to agree with you, even though you are convinced the rest of us are all just stupid and won't face the reality of the fiction you keep posting and trying to pass off as fact.

Apparently, you saw a review by Ron Braithwaite on that bastion of "true" information via book reviews (by just about anybody that has a computer and wants to join in) on the website that we here are calling "Spamazon," and you automatically assumed it was Ronald L. Braithwaite, PhD. Obviously, this guy and that guy are 2 different guys.

Now let me explain to you exactly how truth hurts: The guy that wrote that review (if you had bothered to read his bio at all before you posted his "true" account of "meeting" Alinsky), was a completely different guy than the one you are now claiming him to be.

Nice try, though. I will give you an "E" for effort and an "F" for the factual content of your post. I think it shows a certain kind of temerity to keep calling the rest of us names because we don't believe in posted lies. Please realize that lies are lies and no matter how much you keep insisting they're truth, it does not and never will make them truth.

** In this second post you continued on with:

"A little more info - too bad you don't like truth, those that disliked the above post." You then listed a very good representation of the books authored, co-authored, and/or edited by Ronald L. This one has to be my favorite worse - Nancy Pelosi - insider trading, misuse of military airplanes and looking the other way of her colleagues’ practices put her on this list.

But a close tie for first place would be AG Holder - This has to be my favorite - almost too many to list here. He has denied knowing much about the gun-running scandal known as Fast and Furious where Mexican drug cartel leaders were sold American guns and subsequently killed an American border agent. He openly said he will ignore the President Clinton-approved National Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). He dismissed the case of voter intimidation against the New Black Pathers, even though they had already pled guilty. He has ties to the now-defunct ACORN which has been accused of voter fraud. You pick your favorite.

Maxine Waters -
Under investigation since 2010, she is being looked at for recommending, with help from Massachussetts Congressman Barney Frank, OneUnited Bank be given Trouble Asset Relief Program (TARP) money. At the time, her husband served on the board of the bank and held stock in the company. That’s what most people call a conflict of interest.

Here's an oldie - John Edwards - indicted in June of 6 felony counts of misusing funds surrounding his attempt to cover up the affair he had with a former staffer.

Barney Frank - his list is long including his involvement in the OneUnited Bank situation, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and the collapse of the mortgage market.
Laura Richardson - Representative Richardson is being investigated for misusing her staff for campaign efforts. She has also been in hot water of calling for emergency use of helicopters to go site-seeing and getting preferential treatment after missing mortgage payments on multiple properties.

Jesse Jackson Junior - In December, the House Ethics Committee announced a probe into Representative Jackson’s involvement in “pay for play” in the scandal that took down former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. “Blago” was convicted of making a deal to replace President Obama’s Senate seat with someone who gave favors to him.

Alcee Hastings - Hastings, a former impeached federal judge, is being investigated for a lawsuit filed against him. Hastings wanted a sexual relationship with her on numerous occasions and when she wouldn’t comply, he retaliated against her.

Janet Nepolitano, Charles Rangel, Kathleen Sebelius.

So many more I just have too hard of a time picking which is the worse.

Well, I guess my observation is that the only thing remarkable for you TPubs is how every last one of you deflected and refused to answer the question, and weren't even industrious enough to start your own link if you were going to change the subject.

If Rick Perry turned his state around, then the fact is he turned it around from the ill effects unleashed on it during the wonder years of George W. Bush. You might recall Rick Perry became governor when King George went on to occupy the White House and then decide to practice his handiwork on the country and the rest of the world, causing havoc and destruction all over the planet. And now little Ricky has him some "makes me look smarter" glasses and thinks he'll be the next POTUS. LOL. The only problem for Rick Perry running for president now is that Rick makes King George look smart, and the country will not soon forget what happens when you put an idiot from Texas in charge. look like trumped up charges brought by a democratic county against a Republican governor because they didn't like the fact that a convicted and jailed drunk DA didn't get away with the DUI/DWI charges.

That's not the governor's fault. It's the DA's fault for being in that condition. i still say she should be RECALLED or be "fired" if she doesn't resign, since I certainly wouldn't want to be a defendant in any case she would try. She definitely would be partial to any police officer that arrested someone for DUI/DWI, wanting to get back at them for her arrest.

I still can't understand how she can still be in office because of the Texas law, that I posted here before.

Thing is, you're doing what everyone else does and jumps the gun on guilty or innocent or guilty.

Today's scheme of things seems to be guilty until proven innocent, not the constitutional way of innocent until proven guilty. It happens too often, especially when the MSM covers it and makes it national.

But did anyone riot or scream "No Justice, No Peace" when the black cop killed the white guy in Utah last week? Only the local news carried it but there was no outcry. Again, whipping crowds up into a frenzy by stretching the truth is not right....plus when you have the president, AG, and governor of a state convicting someone before the facts are in, that's not a good sign that this country is on a good path.

Sorry, got off the track a bit, but even with facts, a lot of trumped up charges and/or accusations are still held as truth no matter what.
They probably seem like trumped up charges because - sm
[ In Reply To ..]
You have a tendency to rely on biased sources that are not always completely factual. If your sources told you a democratic county brought the charges, I can assure you there is nothing further from the truth. The judge in the case is a Republican appointed by former Texas Governor George W. Bush, and the democratic DAs all recused themselves so a special prosecutor was appointed to investigate the case. The special prosecutor is also a Republican. The investigation was held for around an entire year, and around 40 people were called in to give sworn testimony (like a lot of people involved on Rick Perry's staff, etc.). Rick Perry tried to get the DA to resign by threatening to withhold funding to her department; he did this part vocally and publicly. She refused. Far from trying to "get away with" the charges, she plead guilty and served her time for her offense, said she would seek counselling, and said she wouldn't seek reelection but that she would NOT resign in order for him to choose her replacement but let the voters pick her replacement in the next election. Rick Perry did what he promised and line item vetoed the funding approved by the State of Texas, i.e., the people. AFTER he vetoed it, and here's where it gets even worse, he then tried again to get the DA to resign by promising to RESTORE funding to the department. Oops!

There's no law that requires the DA to be recalled or fired because she made a mistake, and she would naturally recuse herself from any case that might be a conflict of interest, no different than any other DA or judge anywhere actually. Rick Perry has turned a blind eye to Republican DAs making similar mistakes, all that and the fact that Rick has been seen publicly under the influence himself so "pot, kettle, black" applies here, and she's an elected official chosen by the people and has worked in that office for a few decades. Oh, he'll probably weasel out of it somehow because Texas courts are STACKED with appointments of Bush and Perry for decades, but the fact is he tried to secure an elected official's resignation by threatening to veto funds, then doing it, and then offering to restore funds to her department if only she'd resign.

And the final crazy fact that makes this really get way less cut and dried than it's being reported is that the DA's department in question launched an investigation of one of Perry's pet/signature projects, the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute (a multi "B" billion-dollar cancer research agency, after 18 scientists, including the Nobel laureate director, had resigned in protest because of funding shenanigans. The 18 scientists had resigned claiming that investment decisions for that organization were being made without proper scientific review and that tens of millions of dollars of cancer research money was ending up in the hands of Perry supporters and donors and being used for their business ventures. In fact, one of those friends of Rick is a former executive of the agency that has been indicted by, you guessed who, in connection with an improperly awarded $11 million grant, and that case too is now pending. I personally think these two should serve time in adjoining cells for the whole mess, but the DA has already served her time and didn't dispute her wrongdoing.

So rather than "jumping the gun" on his innocence, consider the fact that Perry admits to a lot of the facts; he just claims his motivation was her conduct. Good luck with that, Rick. I think that offer to RESTORE funding in exchange for her resignation while her office was busy indicting Rick's buddies for taking the cancer funding merits at least a jury trial or two for the governor and his cronies, and apparently so does the Republican special prosecutor whom I believe used the words: "The law is the law."

Governor Made An Executive OrderApr 23, 2016
Just heard the governor of Virginia has made an executive order that inmates 200,000 of them can now vote. Funny, I thought all of your rights were taken away from you when you started serving prison sentences. Anything for his Hillary to win. ...

Governor Ultrasound Sentenced To Two Years Jan 06, 2015
Next up is former GOP Connecticut Governor John Rowland, who is waiting for sentencing on 7 counts of conspiracy, falsifying records, perjury and illegal campaign contributions.  Maximum time would be 57 years. No problem. He's already served time in 2005 for corruption.      ...

Governor Mike Pence Is Either Very DumbMar 30, 2015
He refuses to state whether or not his idiotic "religious freedom law" will allow people to discriminate against gays. Of course it will. Good for all the businesses and athletes who are boycotting this law and the state. I am really getting sick of this being the "I Hate Obama" board, "no, I hate him more," "no, I REALLY hate him." If you think that's politics, it's not. It's just boring. So, anyone, what think you about this situation of governors approving laws that make it ...

Worst Of US Recession OverOct 12, 2009
The worst U.S. recession since the Great Depression has ended, but weak household spending as the labor market struggles to create jobs will slow the pace of the economy's recovery, according to a survey released on Monday. The survey of 44 professional forecasters released by the National Association of Business Economists (NABE) found that 80 percent of the respondents believed the economy was growing again after four straight quarters of declines. "The great recession is over," said NA ...

Worst Haircut Ever!!Feb 05, 2011
I had an appointment to get my hair cut yesterday.  When I got there, they told me that my stylist was in the hospital and they had tried to call me but no one ever answered the phone.  I told her that my answering machine would have picked up but she said it never did.  They said that someone else could do it and I came so close to saying I wanted to reschedule but I was there, had not washed my hair that morning and my bangs were hanging in my eyes.  They told me that this ...

Worst Gift Ever?Dec 06, 2010
I got this from another board and it was actually funny to read. When we got married 18 years ago we got a plunger from my mom's friend thou she did get us another gift also that one was just funny. We got margaritia glasses and neither us were old enough to drink either. I used those for dessert glasses for a bit but ended up over time breaking them. I can't think of any really really bad gifts but those 2 stick out in my mind for some reason. So what has been yours? ...

My Worst NightmareJan 25, 2015
My worst nightmare is to wake up day after elections and find we have another Bush or Clinton in the WH. This is why I am for the people picking out the representative for both parties. I am sick of monied people and those considering themselves more knowing than the rest of us (elites) picking and choosing our next president. We hire the president and everyone else in the Congress, etc. Why is it we can't pick our own choice for candidate. Something is wrong with this picture. ...

Former Governor Of Tokyo Claims Obama Ordered The CIAMay 11, 2017

I Am The Worst Neighbor In The WorldApr 13, 2010
If I could buy a cabin in the Rocky Mountains on 40 acres of land, I would.  Except I can't. I live in apartments because that is my only financial option (long story, lots of people have a similar one), so I really should try to accept my situation and live a happy life.  Except I just want things the way I want things and I believe since I've been single and working from home since 1997, I have become a hermit crab and like it enough I am not motivated to change. My downs ...

Now I've Seen The Worst Of The Left But I Bet I Haven't.Feb 25, 2017
"Pray on your own time!" some shouted during the minister's opening prayer, which has been done at town halls since time imemorial. I have no problem with anyone showing up to a town hall meeting and respectfully expressing their opinions.  I'd expect that from either side of the aisle.  This behavior - the depth of my disgust is simply inexpressible.  ...and I'm betting they wouldn't have shouted down an imam.     ...

Mr. President, There's A Reason We Think You're The Worst (sm)Jul 13, 2014
President in recent history, she said.  “We don't trust you. We don't believe you. We don't think you're capable of leading the country. Illegally entering the United States is not a right to citizenship. And don't tell us we're heartless because we believe in the rule of law, which is the foundation upon which our country was founded.” Link     ...
