The Economist polls 363 economists on Obama's and Romney's

Posted: Oct 8, 2012

Warning: Their opinions will please and displease no matter who you support. Even when economists agreed, they often disagreed on why. But--this fairly short and very readable article has some very good information to chew over.

(Please don't post pieces you like out of context unless you want me providing the rest of the paragraph right up front where everyone will read it. For instance some will like "The president’s least popular policy was his financial-reform package" but may be displeased with the whys. :)

When you look at the graphs in the article, it's pretty clear that the majority of those polled are democrats. Right or wrong, that clearly shows that their answers are biased. People tend to read information through their own personal filter of what they want to see.

Reading turns that up too, plus discussion of various viewpoints, - including independents. NM

Maybe it's hard to find a Republican economist? - Just a thought.

The Economist is a fairly neutral magazine.

The Economist does this each year so apparently feels - it's valid info. But more econs from the left

participate. Which is why it's helpful to read to the bottom to get their discussion of weighting these results.

On the plus side, also, scientists' views are based on a body of common information they agree on more than they disagree and are not nearly as erratic and irresponsible as the general population's. The thought represented in this survey is pretty mainstream, with a relatively narrow spread from right to left compared to...well, what we see here on this forum.

Why would this group be interested anyway? - backwards typist

I got the impression that they aren't even American. They use the "English" spelling and in reading who they were, they were founded by a Scottsman upset with the Corn Law (a British law).

The Economist covers the globe, with offices all over, and...we're the - U.S.A. Everybody watches us. NM

Princeton Economist: Obama Distorted My Romney Plan StudyOct 08, 2012
A Princeton professor said the Obama campaign is misrepresenting his work in a campaign email it sent out, the Weekly Standard reported, and that Mitt Romney’s tax plan does not require raising taxes on the lower and middle class. The Obama campaign email said Romney’s tax plan would force him to raise taxes on the middle class and increase the deficit. "Even the studies that Romney has cited to claim his plan adds up still show he would need to raise middle-class taxes," the Obam ...

Romney 48%, Obama 43%Apr 17, 2012
48 to 43 is pretty close. In a poll registered voters were asked if election was held today who would you vote for. 48 Romney and 43 for Obama. What this says is it's very close and it still gives me hope that the Romney haters don't outweigh the ones who have a clear mind and will vote based on what is best for the country. So all the haters can spin all they want. Reading so many posts below I had to take what was posted and go research for myself and found out that most of wh ...
