Shep Smith Names Every Single Republican Who Refused To Come On His Show And

If this was so important to Democrats (the first - responders bill).....

[ In Reply To ..]
then why didn\'t they pass it while they still had the majority? They were talking about this in June and July. They have no high ground to stand on this...political maneuvering at its finest and another shining example of how the Democratic party uses people/classes to their advantage, and that they do not, in fact, care about people, only political power.

If they cared about the First Responders they would have shoved it through while they had the majority. They got that health care albatross through, they certainly could have gotten the First responders bill through.

What a joke!

The point is the pubs, and the dems do - still have the

[ In Reply To ..]
majority.

Obstructionism at its finest.

The pubs do not have the majority until Jan 1. - The Dems have had it...

[ In Reply To ..]
for TWO years. They have been talking about this bill for SIX months. If it was important to them they would have passed it. It wasn't, and they didn't. It is only important now trying to score political points, ram it through without any hearings or how the money was to be administered or anything else. The same way Obamacare was...just pass ANYTHING so we can say we passed SOMETHING.

I repeat...what a JOKE.
That's what I said! I agree. Pubs USING it to get those - ridiculous extensions
[ In Reply To ..]
and obstructing while the democrats still have the majority. I agree. What a NOT FUNNY joke!

You still are deflecting the attention from the ELEPHANT - in the room.
[ In Reply To ..]
they have had six long months to pass it while they DID have the majority and sat on their hands. Too late for them (or YOU) to blame the Republicans. It is Dem business as usual. Parlay the needs of people into a power game hold card.

You are RIGHT...it is SO not funny, and why in the HECK do they keep DOING IT???
How odd. The pubs are the ones stopping it and - you're
[ In Reply To ..]
blaming the Democrats! Now is as good a time as any to pass it. Why are you blaming the Democrats? They still have the majority, now same as then.

What makes you think things would have been any different 6 months ago?

Who did you say was "deflecting?" lol. There's an ELEPHANT in the room alright.
Yes, deflecting...and sorry, used wrong mascot... - there is an *ahem* DONKEY....
[ In Reply To ..]
in the room...and acting like one (stubborn). The Dems sat on this bill for six months and pulled it out when it suited them politically....they don't give a hoot about the 9-11 first responders, so stop acting like they do. And in typical Dem fashion, throw it out there with no hearings, no way to administer the funds (leaving it wide open to waste and unfair distribution) just so they can say exactly what the minions (no offense intended) are saying on this board and everywhere else...they hope there are a few people out there who just take what you guys put out there at face value.

Know what? It doesn't work anymore. But go ahead....knock yourself out.
So, where are you seeing they sat on it for - 6 months?
[ In Reply To ..]
This has been in the works a long long time.

Most recently, the Zadroga bill failed the house in July, it was reworked for funding, etc., and passed the house in September, and now it's where it is.

If you have some info about Dems sitting on it for 6 months, would you share the article?
Talk started in July, it failed; waited until Sept - to bring it up again....
[ In Reply To ..]
and there it still sits. That is called sitting on your hands for six months. No article needed to support it, you said it yourself.

Thanks.
omg, okay....we'll just let this be since you - obviously
[ In Reply To ..]
don't know what you are talking about.
I know what I am talking about....have no idea - what YOU are talking about.
[ In Reply To ..]
and obviously neither do you. So we will let it be.
Pretty obvious you don't. - If you
[ In Reply To ..]
want to try to explain how voting on a bill in July, reworking it, voting again on it in September, and again in December constitutes "sitting on it for 6 months" go fot it. lol

The problem is all bills have to go to some committee - Backwards Typist

[ In Reply To ..]
or another. This bill went to the House Energy and Commerce, Subcommitte on Health for referral, markups, hearings, and reporting.

If I am correct, it seems that it was bogged down by the Healthcare Act, Lily Ledbetter, Medicare Fraud Prevention, etc., etc., The 9/11 bill was #108 on their schedule. After they do their work, then it goes to Congress for voting.

It will pass. There are 115 co-sponsors on the bill. They were planning on bringing it up for vote before the end of session no matter what it took to get it there.

Jon Stewart doesn't seem to know how government works. Maybe he should read up on it before he shoots his mouth off. All he did was get a lot of people angry over nothing to get ratings.

What don't people get about the fact that - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
WE CAN'T AFFORD THIS!!! Bless those brave men and women who responded at 9/11. They did their job and many lost their lives...but it is just that....they did their jobs. When you are a cop or a fire fighter....you know there is a chance that you could get killed. It is a dangerous job. We cannot afford to give those who survived and/or their families money. I'm sorry. It just cannot be done. I don't think this bill should pass. As much as I admire and respect those brave people....our country unfortunately cannot afford it.

It is not as if they have gotten nothing.... - they just won a big lawsuit

[ In Reply To ..]
against the city of New York. They at least need to look at who has already received money and how much and see what the real need is.

Yes we can afford it, and they deserve it. - I don't

[ In Reply To ..]
know what else to say, but try to put yourself in their position. They are not the military.

We can afford it? With what money? - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Have you not seen the tally of our debt? We CANNOT afford this When you take a high risk job, you can't cry and whine when something bad happens to you. You knew the risk when you took that job.

A fair percentage of Fire Department personnel who became sick following work at Ground Zero are currently drawing disability pensions to offset the cost of their medical treatment. Many also stand to collect a share of the $800 million settlement that is the likely end result of a lawsuit that has been filed against the city.

No, they aren't....but they just won a big lawsuit - with NYC...and it includes...

[ In Reply To ..]
how much more is enough? How much in other settlements have they received? Do you realize what is going to happen if the country keeps borrowing money to stay running and the dollar gets devalued? the poster is right...we CANNOT afford it. Why not stop another program not as deserving and pay the first responders out of THAT? Why is just writing checks when the coffers are empty so okay with everybody???

Geez.
