If you are in any of these states, vote Republican

Texas, Ohio, Arizona, Indiana, Nebraska, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland.

Lets clean house and keep it. - Texas going purple

now that the gerrymandered map has been thrown out, along with the recently trashed voter ID suppression tactics. Next up, women's repro rights and reversal of government interference in our private affairs and constitutionally protected access to choice.

Guess what happens to the red swath that smothers the heartland states on the electoral college map once Texas leans forward?

Keep dreaming. Texas is red through and through. - Ted Cruz a winner!

Of 47 TX govs, only 6 have been GOP, - 39 democrats, 1 Unionist (gasp lib), 1 indie

Through-and-through?  Hardly.  The GOP fall from grace has only been a recent phenomenon.  Have you ever stopped long enough to use some critical thinking skills and question just WHY the Johhny-Come-Latelys have taken such a severe right turn and been so pro-actively trying to suppress the vote?  Have you taken a look at a recent TX demographic map?  Time for a reality check.

Here is a 2004 US map that shows red/blue vote percentage breakdown by state. Texas sure was approaching the half-and half state then.  BTWin case you aren't aware of it, Texas is one of only 4 MINORITY-MAJORITY states in the US, the other three being CA, NM and HI, so that trend is not likely to turn in your direction anytime soon.

Ever done a survey of party affiliation in major metro complex areas, such as mayors, or other highly placed local and state officials ?  Dems, Latinos, Gay, African Americans...diversity is the flavor of the day.

With winger legislative over-reach and flukes like Ted Cruz, the state is poised to return to its more sensible and essential roots.  Despite their best efforts to scour the textbooks, TBE cannot reverse the wisdom of the time-honored axiom:  Those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.  Voter turn-out rocks, now that the map and ID laws have found their way to the trash can.  It's just a matter of time, Hon.

Let's don't. - nm

A Full Repeal Of Obamacare Must Get Through The Senate,Mar 09, 2017
Peter Nelson, my colleague at Center of the American Experiment, is one of the country’s leading experts on health care policy. On the Center’s web site, he urges conservatives to take a deep breath and understand the constraints that Congressional Republicans are working under. In particular, a full repeal of Obamacare must get through the Senate, which means it must get 60 votes. There are only 52 Republican senators. Therefore, the first bill that has been unveiled is intended to be pa ...

Don't Ask, Don't Tell Repeal Passes Senate Procedural VoteDec 18, 2010
WASHINGTON — In a landmark vote for gay rights, the Senate on Saturday voted to advance legislation that would overturn the military ban on openly gay troops known as "don't ask, don't tell." The 63-33 test vote all but guarantees the legislation will pass the Senate, possibly by day's end, and reach the president's desk before the new year. The House had passed an identical version of the bill, 250-174, earlier this week. Repeal would mean that, for the firs ...

Why Obamacare Will Self Repeal. Two Words Summarize Why.Jan 11, 2017
The debate is over. We do not need to repeal Obamacare; it will repeal itself. Two words summarize why: risk pool. The ACA is founded upon a stunning misconception of the very definition of insurance. Its advocates have mistakenly conflated two unrelated concepts: insurance and welfare – or, more to the point, risk and charity. People buy insurance in order to mitigate risk. We buy fire insurance because there is a slight chance that our house will burn down. If we cannot afford ins ...

Speaker Boehner Won't Try To Repeal Obamacare, HoldingNov 09, 2012
and this is a BIG but, he's abandoning the dysfunctional supply-side feed-the-rich economic plan Romney was running on. You know, the one from the Reagan and W eras that cost most of us bitterly while making a few very happy? Boehner also says he's willing to raise taxes and broaden the tax base (remember the no-tax-increase pledge almost all pubs had to sign?), so this is another good sign that we'll be able to pay some bills and speed up that economic recovery.  Speaker B ...

Is It Even Possible To Repeal A Bill That Has BeenMar 25, 2010
passed by the House and the Senate and signed by the president? Did this EVER happen?  To my knowledge, not. Where are the Republicans going?  Resorting to violence?  What a shame! BTW: Bush never vetoed a bill.  He signed each one and then  added "signing statements," and made his own rules, circumventing the Constitution, claiming wrongly that he could do this since he  had the highest executive power. ...

Repeal Of ACA May Be Illegal?Nov 11, 2014
Does Josh Gruber's admission there was "lack of transparency" bother me personally? Sure it does. But considering most members of congress were lawyers previously, which are pretty much like glorified used car salesmen, this is not exactly a news scoop. In the clips I saw, Gruber also said that though he wished things had been done differently, it WAS important we pass this law, as well as there was virtually no difference between Romneycare and Obamacare. Even if the House cou ...

last month the state insurance commissioner, Julie Mix McPeak, approved premium increases of up to 62% in a bid to save the exchange set up under the Affordable Care Act. “I would characterize the exchange market in Tennessee as very near collapse,” she said. Then last week BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee announced it would leave three of the state’s largest exchange markets—Nashville, Memphis and Knoxville. “We have experienced losses approaching $500 million over the course of ...

House GOP Sending Obama A Message On Health RepealJan 05, 2011
By RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR, Associated Press Ricardo Alonso-zaldivar, Associated Press WASHINGTON – Eager to show who's now in charge, the House's new Republican majority plans to vote to repeal President Barack Obama's landmark health care overhaul before he even shows up in their chamber to give his State of the Union address. Though full repeal is a longshot — the House vote would be just the first, easiest step — they'll follow up with dozens of attempt ...

Obamacare Is Failing From Behind... His Goals For ObamacareJul 20, 2016
1) Have it collapse so that single payer can be implemented amidst the ensuing chaos. 2) Have that happen on somebody else’s watch. Obamacare was designed to fail so the Democrats could “reform” it with complete government provided socialized medicine. That is the entire purpose for it. Obamacare is designed to collapse so they can backfill the vacuum with government run socialized medicine. Eventually, everyone will be on some form of Medicare. I believe that was one of Bernie’ ...

Tax Cut Measures Fail In The SenateDec 04, 2010
They voted on the Baucus amendment and the Schumer amendment and both failed to pass.  I find some of the comments very interesting from both sides. I will not give my comments on either side's remarks although I saw some really hateful speeches. I decided to look for any news reports on this but it doesn't tell the whole story. HCR Now Faces Senate ChallengeMar 22, 2010
So it's not over yet. Washington (CNN) -- Now that the House has passed the Senate's health care reform bill and a package meant to reconcile differences between the House and Senate bills, the next step is for members of the Senate to sign off on those changes. That won't be as easy as it sounds. Senate Republicans have indicated they will use any and all legislative tactics in order to slow -- even stop -- the reconciliation bill from passing.
