Repost (the proper way): Netanyahu's Speech

Posted: Mar 18, 2015

While writing this draft, I noticed TruthHurts has a very good post I don't want you to miss, which I really don't want to undermine by doing this, but in sincerely trying to listen to the, um...feedback I've gotten below on my earlier post... I've decided not to remove or alter that post myself (because THAT would be sneaky), so I will repost it without my opinion on a the separate subject of name-calling - hope THAT is okay. Below is the NYT piece on Netanyahu's speech, and the quote in question is: “Right-wing rule is in danger,” he said. “Arab voters are streaming in huge quantities to the polling stations.” Any thoughts? In my opinion, first let it be known that since a Jewish family virtually took me in as their own as a teenager and I adore them, though some of YOU called me an "anti-semite" below for disagreeing with Netanyahu's speech, just know that no one else on the free world would ever call me that, including my "surrogate" Jewish family. In fact, many in the Jewish faith believe they are to "wait in Faith" for Zion, rather than shed blood over it, largely because they believe Sarah made that exact same mistake already which caused the whole Jewish/Muslim problem - she did NOT wait in faith for God's promise for a child and used Hagar instead (resulting in Isaac and Ishmael). Their faith, as well as in the Christian bible, predict that Jewish/Muslim faiths will war for all time and as consequence of Sarah's mistake, their war to be a reminder of that. At most, they believe in self-defense in battle. Not to mention, also in Jewish faith, God told David he would never be part of building a temple because he had shed too much blood in God's name - so his son, Solomon did. And let us not forget the lesson we were all supposed to learn from the Holocaust is never to label with a literal or metaphoric golden star any group of people and subjugate them to slavery, confinement, objectification or persecution just BECAUSE they were a member of any group - religious, race, political or otherwise. Otherwise, I heard what you said, and thanks for allowing me the opportunity to repost my opinion :) (P.S. Don't forget, TruthHurts has posted a great post below me while I was writing this, for those of you truly wanting to discuss rather than fight :);

I have no idea what you're talking about - Truthhurts

Missing what post? I don't see where i posted anything posted about Netanyahu. Am i missing something or are you mixing me up with someone else? I never post under any other moniker except the above.

Nope. I was referring to your House Budget 2016 post I thanked you under yesterday:) - Independent

*Edited to ensure clarity, so there can be absolutely no further "misunderstandings" and "misinterpretations."

I don't plan on staying, but to answer your direct question to me, I'm not seeing in that post where I ever said you posted on Netanyahu (nor did I state that elsewhere), nor did I personally ever say, or even insinuate, you had another moniker, at any time, on this board.

What I said was that I thought lots of people were jumping to conclusions about the true authors of posts - including similar accusations that came at me.

For the record, I have only posted as "Independent" and "Jimmy Kimmel Fan" since I returned here last Friday. (Those were not the monikers I used several months ago.)

I said in the above post that you'd just published a new post (meaning the House Budget 2016 post). The one I thanked you under before at around the same time I posted?

http://general.mtstars.com/408154.html

At the time, I was being warned via comments (which are now deleted) that my original post on Netanyahu might be removed for various reasons, so after listening to that feedback, I rewrote the above post in case the first was removed.

I always like to refresh the screen in another window before I hit "post reply" or "post" so as not to make the same point as someone else, when I saw you had a new post - House Budget 2016.

It has been said that most here just want to argue, so I pointed out your post and a lib's post (in their comment section) as being 2 "missed opportunities" for rational discussion - but there weren't many takers on either.

In other words, I thought the Budget 2016 post, at least, was actually a good post for true discussion and didn't want to overshadow it/people to miss it. I also agree with you that there is not enough transparency/too much secrecy in the Obama administration, but I felt it was even worse with George W. Bush.

None of which means I'm your new best friend.

It means I do try to find the positive in people, and I think you at least attempt to support your opinion well, though I don't usually agree with you, nor do I care for your particular brand of pot-stirring, i.e., responding to this post way down here from yesterday.

So, I referred people to that post because I thought that post was actually good one for rational discussion.

You're welcome.

Otherwise, I think we're done here.

Goodbye :)

Leaked Cables From Israel's Spy Agency Show Netanyahu Lied In Speech To The United Nations.Mar 01, 2015
It has recently come to light that Benjamin Netanyahu lied in a speech he gave to the United Nations. In 2012, Netanyahu gave a speech to the U.N. about the state of Iran’s nuclear weapons program. A recently leaked spy cable from Mossad, Israel’s spy agency reveals that Iran was “not performing the activity necessary to produce weapons”. The cable was included with hundreds of secret documents leaked to the media. The leaked documents come from multiple spy agencies including, Mossad, B ...

Netanyahu's Speech (Special Guest Appearances By "Beast, Sissy Pants And Con Scum?")Mar 18, 2015
Just kidding - this post was to be just about Netanyahu's controversial victory speech. However, I can't help but notice that such derogatory terms are being used above and they tend to be effective in getting people to read and respond. They are designed to to incite aggressive reaction - and it's working? Perhaps not taking the bait, at least in likewise manner, might be considered? (Easier said than done, I know, done it myself a time or two in times past;) The rea ...

So, they say Biden and some "top" Democrats will not be attending. I understand the sentiment, and they can always watch on CSPAN and get the info, I suppose, but I do think they should listen, even if they don't believe he should be here, which I agree, he shouldn't. Boehner has made a large error and Republicans supporting him are being very destructive to our country's image in the world, not to mention further fracturing Congress. Democrats Go Berserk Over Netanyahu's EffectivenessMar 05, 2015
Appeasers: Democrats called Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu condescending, childish, and told him to go home. President Obama only read the speech and found "nothing new." Translation: Bibi scored big. Democrats were apoplectic after Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu's Tuesday appearance before a joint session of Congress. Liberal Chicago-area Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky even charged, unaware of the irony, that the leader of the Jewish state wanted "to stampede the United State ...

lead to Israel's demise.  He is driving away Israel's most ardent supporters and benefactors including American Jews, most of whom remain democrats.  Funny how the republicans have suddenly adopted Bibi/Israel.  The Israel of today is a far different nation than in the days when America first pledged financial and military support to a new nation, some of which was due to our guilt at ignoring the Nazi's attempted extermination of the Jews.  The days of America ...

For Liberal Israelis, Netanyahu's Win Is A Reality CheckMar 21, 2015
Israeli liberals woke up after national elections with a demoralizing feeling: Most of the country, in a deep and possibly irreversible way, does not think like they do. There had been a sense of urgency among moderate Israelis, and even an ounce of hope, that widespread frustration with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's six straight years in office would lead voters to pull Israel away from what they perceive as its rightward march toward international isolation, economic inequality a ...

Vladimir Putin's Speech: Shortest Speech EverOct 20, 2016
I would suggest that not only our leaders but every citizen of USA should pay attention to this advice. How scary is that?   It is a sad day when a Communist Leader makes more sense than our LEADERS here in the U.S.A., but here it is!   Vladimir Putin's speech - SHORTEST SPEECH EVER.   Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, addressed the Duma, (Russian Parliament), and gave a speech about the tensions with minorities in Russia:   "In Russia, live like ...

Is It ProperJan 08, 2010
Is it proper to send a sympathy card to a relative?  My aunt called me yesterday (she lives in another state) to tell me my cousin died on Christmas eve.  I feel like garbage because I sent her a comical Christmas card (which I always do).  They know of course that there was no way for me to know, but I don't think they liked the card (who can blame them knowing this now).  So I was just wondering if it's proper to send a sympathy card or not.  She's one o ...

Mark Levin: Netanyahu Is ‘A Warrior,’ Obama Is ‘An Ideologue And Appeaser’Mar 04, 2015
HOST SEAN HANNITY: Why is there hostility towards Israel, and yet the president cannot even say the words radical Islam? LEVIN: Because Netanyahu is a warrior, he’s a combat veteran, he is a leader who takes his commander-in-chief responsibilities seriously, and he knows if he and his country make a mistake, it’s over. Barack Obama is a community activist, he’s a rabble-rouser, he’s an ideologue and appeaser. That’s the difference. So what Obama wants is a like-mi ...

Is It Proper - UpdateJan 29, 2010
I wrote awhile back asking if it was proper to send relatives a sympathy card.  Just wanted to let you know I took all your advice, wrote some nice words about my cousin and heard that my card and words were greatly appreciated and touched their hearts.  On a sadder note, I heard from two of my brothers that unfortunately they believe my cousins death was most likely a suicide.  There is too much evidence leading, but his brother, sister and mom went over to clean up his apartment ...

Reuven Rivlin (Israeli President) Chides Benjamin Netanyahu (Israeli Prime Minister)Mar 27, 2015
For those unaware, Israel has both a Prime Minister and a President. The PM is the head honcho, but the President has lesser (but exclusive) powers.  Though both are members of the Likud party (conservative), President Rivlin is often considered "centre-right", while Netanyahu is considered "far right." (Think someone like John McCain or Mitt Romney vs. someone like Ted Cruz.) Just to refresh memories, in the article below, Israeli President Rivlin is referring  to this statement Ne ...

I'm surprised no one on this board commented on it yet. I watched it and he seems pretty pi$$ed. I just hope he really means what he said this time. As he said, it is his responsibility. Obama's SpeechJul 16, 2012
The official transcript relates: There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me — because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t — look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Le ...
