I read about Americans Elect in paper today...

According to the website, it is a movement to "Pick a president, not a party. Take part in America's first direct presidential nomination." I encourage people to browse it as I am terrible at explaining things and would mangle their message. Question: Is this a good idea? I was ready to sign up, but would like to hear the opinions of others first. Without starting a huge debate here, my frustration is more with congress and the senate than the president, but if this is the start of electing ALL officials by issues and not by parties, I like the idea. Thanks for your thoughts. ;
